Zurkon Family

Mr. Zurkon, with his wife and son from Into the Nexus

Zurkon is a recurring family of synthenoids in the Ratchet & Clank series comprising Mr. Zurkon, Mrs. Zurkon, and Zurkon Jr. The Zurkons have appeared as weapons, enemies, and characters encountered by Ratchet and Clank.

Mr. Zurkon was first introduced in Tools of Destruction as one of the devices. He later reappeared in games starting with A Crack in Time as a weapon. The Zurkon family was introduced in Into the Nexus, accompanying Mr. Zurkon after the weapon is upgraded. The family reappears in later titles in their various forms.

Weapon and Device[]

As a weapon, Mr. Zurkon is a synthenoid that hovers around Ratchet and fires at enemies. Notably, Mr. Zurkon has unique lines of dialogue for enemies encountered, making snarky remarks and insults at their expense.

Mr. Zurkon first appeared as a device in Tools of Destruction. In A Crack in Time, Mr. Zurkon is introduced as a weapon, upgrading to "Zurkon the Destroyer". In Into the Nexus, Mr. Zurkon upgrades to have Zurkon Jr. accompany him at level 2, and introduces the entire family at level 3. In Ratchet & Clank (2016 game), when fully upgraded, Mr. Zurkon has Zurkon Jr. accompany him.

Enemies[]

Zurkons as an enemy were introduced in the Ratchet & Clank comic series, deployed by Artemis Zogg.

The Ratchet & Clank (movie) features the Zurkons as enemies. The accompanying 2016 video game also features Mr. Zurkon as a weapon, with Zurkons appearing as enemies and a boss battle against a large Mrs. Zurkon.

Characters[]

During A Crack in Time, Mr. Zurkon featured in one of Kip Darling's news segments airing on space radio as a political guest correspondent. In it, he responded to Darling's thoughtful questions with his usual abrasive catchphrases, refusing to address the time crisis at all.[1]

In Rift Apart, the Zurkon family appears as full characters in the game. Mrs. Zurkon and Ms. Zurkon (the counterpart in Rivet's dimension) serve as the game's vendor. The alternate counterparts of Mr. Zurkon, named Zurkie, and the alternate Zurkon Jr. have other roles in the story as seen in Zurkie's, where Zurkie is the owner of a gastropub and Zurkon Jr. is the announcer at the arena.
