Ratchet & Clank Wiki

This is the walkthrough for the Zurgo's Lair of Doom level as featured in Full Frontal Assault. Stuart Zurgo has deliberately lured the Q-Force to his location to force a final confrontation on his terms.

Walkthrough[]

This final level is a linear combat gauntlet that abandons the tower defense mechanic. You will still find weapon pods to expand your arsenal. Defeat the grungarian brawler guarding the first pod to get the Buzz Blades, then use it to clear the way to the next pods. Make sure to pick up the Groovitron Glove when it becomes available, as it is extremely useful for the final boss fight.

After passing a shield generator, you will enter an open area and receive a warning about a pyrocidic detonator. You have five minutes to reach and disarm it. This is ample time as long as you maintain forward momentum.

Clear the surrounding brawlers and take down a grungarian bomber to access another pod. Cross the bridge, where a wrecking drone will ambush you, and fight through several soldiers, grungoid turrets, and another bomber to open two more pods. Head up the stairs, dealing with another drone along the way, to reach the top level. The detonator is heavily guarded by drones, soldiers, demolitionists, turrets, and one last bomber. Once the area is clear, you can disarm the detonator using the same minigame as opening a pod.

With the timer stopped, hoverboot into the temple to face Stuart Zurgo.

Qwark mech boss fight[]

Qwark mech battle.

Qwark mech battle.

Zurgo pilots a custom Qwark mech protected by a shield and armed with a rapid-fire blaster. While his aim is good, the mech turns slowly. Your primary strategy is to get behind him and target the exposed versa-fuse on his back.

Destroying the fuse will temporarily disable the mech and its shield. Use this opening to hit him with your strongest weapons and deploy any autonomous allies like Mr. Zurkon.

Zurgo will eventually recover and resume his attack, but his slow turning speed means you can easily stay behind him. After taking some damage, he will leap away, spawn several brawlers, and activate a detonator with an 80-second timer. Ignore Zurgo, defeat the brawlers, and disarm the bomb. By the time you are done, Zurgo will likely have reactivated his shield, so repeat the process of destroying the fuse on his back.

When Zurgo's health drops to one-quarter, he will arm his mech's self-destruct sequence, giving you a final two-minute timer. He then destroys the floor and hovers in the center, launching missiles that set the platform you are on ablaze. This forces you to constantly hoverboot between platforms. The strategy is to land, take a few quick shots at Zurgo, and immediately move to the next platform to avoid the incoming missile barrage.

The two-minute timer is tight but manageable. Defeating Zurgo triggers the final cutscene and ends the game. You will return to the Starship Phoenix II with full access to all levels and features. Defeating the final boss grants one more medal, allowing you to continue pursuing any remaining medals, gold bolts, or skill points.

Completing the campaign will unlock the gold trophy "Back to the Basement".
