Merging planet and location articles

This might have been a pretty bad move. Now if the location and planet pages were small with little room for expansion, this would be a good idea. But if either page has enough content to stand on itself then it might be better to keep them apart. Not to mention throwing them together haphazardly isn't a good idea in general, now instead of 20 small but crappy pages we have 10 larger pages that are an utter mess. If you do merge stuff at least take the time to do it right (or better yet, discuss this sort of stuff). --Tim H - Talk 22:37, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

For the record, I necessarily don't agree with LD on this one, I personally think a planet and location page merge is ideal for a few reasons.--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 23:23, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

I completely see the point in merging the smaller planet articles if they aren't otherwise featured much beyond the existing location or don't have a lot of room for expansion after properly fleshing out a page and finding it inadequate. But I find that deciding on merging some and not merging others only serves to create more confusion in the long run. Because when do you or do you not merge? It's usually best to decide on this after writing a page and deciding it is too small instead of doing at right now, with the current state of the wiki.

Either way, I improvised a game plan of how to start work most efficiently, instead of picking one category and editing things randomly. It'd be best if I laid this out in an IRC chat though. --Tim H - Talk 16:36, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

Doesn't mean that the wiki can't use a second administrator, not mention a handful of edits doesn't mean much if he genuinely intends to contribute. --Tim H - Talk 16:31, June 11, 2015 (UTC)

I'm backpedaling pretty hard here, the initial idea was that the wiki was abandoned and that new folks could go and pick it up, but with this new surge of active editors, including some old ones, I won't be needed anymore (not to mention I have no intentions of working with those who led the wiki down the current road). I'll throw my vote around on your administrator request as I think you can still get those rights. I suggest asking Tigernose to see if he can get bureaucratorship and appoint you as admin or simply message the new (returned) editors to vote in on the matter as well, if Tigernose doesn't reply then just hope you get enough approvals and take that to the adoption site. --Tim H - Talk 16:47, June 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I’ve given you admin and bureaucrat rights on this wikia as you requested. You now have the tools you need to clean up, customize and maintain the wikia.

Check out your Admin Dashboard, which can by found by clicking "Admin" on the bottom toolbar -- it has links to all your new tools. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck with your new (old) wikia! -- Wendy (talk 04:18, June 13, 2015 (UTC)

Well that was easier than I thought, good luck Dr Nef and if you need anything just ask. --Tim H - Talk 10:25, June 13, 2015 (UTC)

Congrats, DrNefarious! You'll be great, you are definitely willing to help this place and qualified for the job! Per LD, if you need any help or advice, just ask.--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 12:24, June 13, 2015 (UTC)

Ice planet deletion disagreement

I noted that you have just deleted a page of an unknown planet. Since it is a seperate part of a game about an unknown planet (we aren't 100% if that is Siberius), why should it be merged in another article?

Plasmo (t@lk) 15:18, June 13, 2015 (UTC)

  • Well, as there has been a discussion about the page, they might knew more than me, so I might be wrong and the page did have to be deleted. But as long as I know, it shouldn't be deleted. I am not sure; if you agree, you can undelete it.

Plasmo (t@lk) 15:46, June 13, 2015 (UTC)

  • Ok, I can explain why (if you notice, I had done an edit that it might be Grelbin).

A mere misunderstanding

Although I do not appreciate the way my error was brought into light, nor my characterization as an impostor, I do aknowledge it. It is not my intention to mimic anyone. I'm merely an admin of a certain Dr. Nefarious page on facebook and thought it would be a fitting name for my acount. I hope no quarrel will be brought between us and I'm more than glad to change my acount's name, if it creates true commotion. I do hope you can give me some tips on how to do it, though. I've spent the last fifteen minutes trying to find out by myself and had no luck up until now. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by JB Dr. Nefarious1996 (talk · contribs). Hi there, DrNef, nice work you've been doing on the wiki so far! I just wanted to point you to Dorum:Notability, to see if you had any comments on it. It was an old forum started by Hunterj back in the day, but I think it could be revised to create a project page/policy for the wiki here. If you need an idea, Project:Notability on Jak Wiki is what I had in mind here, but probably modified to fit R&C wiki needs. Was hoping I could get your thoughts on this. Thanks!--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 16:31, June 16, 2015 (UTC)

My input is put. Done and done! --Fullmedalshlong0307 (talk) 16:52, June 18, 2015 (UTC)

Hello, sorry for the late reply. Just wanted to say thanks for taking over the responsibilities. I'm not really able to contribute significantly at the moment but am still just about around... I'm glad there is someone who can keep a closer eye on the wiki, particularly with the upcoming new game and film. If there's anything you need help with at all please let me know and I'll try to reply soon, but unfortunately my time is very limited at the moment. I'm confident you'll help take the wiki forward alongside active editors. It's particularly great to see some older discussions re-opened, separately I might get my bot working on typos etc. that's at least something I can do for now! Many thanks, HunterjHunterj's Resort 20:43, June 19, 2015 (UTC)

IRC Discussion

Hi there,

Us on the J&D wiki are interested in helping you guys out, now that one of our admins is back. We were wondering if you were interested in an IRC discussion sometime where we chat about a few things we would like to do around here when we move in? If not, we can open a forum or something where we outline the changes we want to make and involve you (though we might end up doing that any for visibility purposes :p). If you let me know whether you're interested/what times you're free, we can start whenever. Presumably beginning with templates/categories or something. Thanks! ^.^--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 21:23, June 21, 2015 (UTC)

I'd say that an IRC discussion would likely be miles easier to get everything discussed in a swift fashion so that we can all get on the same page - saves the delay in between replies. I'm almost always on there, btw, you can probably find me any time you log on (though I'll be away most of tomorrow). However, creating a forum is probably also a good idea, considering I'd probably end up making one anyway. :P Your choice.--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 23:18, June 23, 2015 (UTC)
I have to say I partially agree with Doc. I've always liked on-wiki discussion over chat rooms, for visibility and organizational purposes. I understand the point about swift replies and efficiency and such, but it works well on Wikipedia and it makes it to where everyone's points are fully articulate/completed, documented, and it also makes it to where disputes/flame wars or useless off-topic comments are less-likely to happen. In my experience I've also noticed that debates/conversations are generally shorter. I agree we can/should use chat rooms behind the scenes for petty stuff or really major disagreements (not that I anticipate any such things), but for major proposals I say we stick to forums/talk pages. —Jak Himself (talk · contributions) 23:24, June 23, 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I understand. I'll gladly start a forum sometime soon, but if you'll be busy over the weeks, that's fine too. My plan is to begin work here more often once I'm satisfied with what I'm doing on another wiki. So I'll be more than happy to begin a forum as soon as that day occurs (could be a week or two?), or you can bug me to start one sooner if you find yourself with more free time before then. Thanks!--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 20:39, June 24, 2015 (UTC)

All Content from the original games

Yes, there will be a previous weapons, gadgets, skins, enemies and bosses from the original series.

Cut-content are listed in bold.

So that is all. Thank you. --Thedarkpyrano (talk) 13:58, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

Hello it seems to me that you have already done a tour of Ratchet Wikia battle to put last levels

Ben they launch a subject to give argument why they should be changed.

If you want to help us of course :)

Hey, DrNefarious! How are you doing? Didn't know you've became an administrator... congratz! :-)

I'm writing to get some things straight with your last edits xD Do you have a proper source stating that this new R&C game is, indeed, a completely reboot of the series?  As far I'm afraid of, they haven't mentioned such thing... the game will be just a remake of the first game with new elements, like weapons and stuff, and improved graphics. Torta de Limão (talk) 18:45, July 19, 2015 (UTC)

Right, but there're no actual sources for that statement; there're no official sources that call it a "reboot". I don't think it would be appropriate to keep this way, even if it's just a placeholder, because, from what I've seen on those years, sourced information is pratically a must here. Also, we don't know if there will be another game after this PS4 one; so, it's all unsure and opened to speculation. It could, for example, be just a standalone game that serves as an homenage to the first.

I think I have an idea that would work well for this moment, but, as a wiki, it needs approval: my idea is to keep the Movie in the section Other (or Other Media) and the PS4 game next to the original R&C (as a subsection). Of course, we could edit it later, if more things are unfolded. Torta de Limão (talk) 19:03, July 19, 2015 (UTC)

I just think it's better to let go the term "reboot", as the game itself is not considered so; it's considered a remake. Torta de Limão (talk) 22:53, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

May I ask you, kindly, that we review this new idea you and other users had when I was away from here? It's that... it just doesn't make too much sense for me... we don't know if there will be, in fact, a new R&C series. The only clear thing is that the game will be a remake of Ratchet & Clank. We should first wait for more information to show up before going out and putting merely speculative information in a lot of pages. Torta de Limão (talk) 22:55, July 27, 2015 (UTC)

The movie and the game are basically the same thing. It's not two different entries to this "new series"; one is an adaptation of another. That's why I say this doesn't make much sense, at all. We should just consider it as a "remake". Torta de Limão (talk) 22:54, August 6, 2015 (UTC)

Block: "Thedarkpyrano"

I forgot something: I don't think you should have blocked the user right away for his last edits. I mean, you could've used the warning template before the actual block so the user would be aware to refrain for doing that again. Torta de Limão (talk) 19:13, July 19, 2015 (UTC)

Oh, ok then! Torta de Limão (talk) 22:51, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

Portable Infoboxes

We’re reaching out to a few of our top communities, hoping to get you on board with the migration to the new infobox markup. And we have tools to help!

Why we’re doing this

Simply put: Most current infobox structure translates very poorly to mobile experiences, and indeed any device that doesn’t use desktop-style displays. On desktops and laptops, they often look amazing. The problem is that Wikia’s traffic is trending mobile.

There is an important graph from our forum post about infoboxes a couple weeks back, and I want to share it here as well:

Mobile is the future. Not just for Wikia, but for the web as a whole. Take a look at the recent trends and future growth predictions for mobile traffic - it's staggering.

We partnered with the Wikia community to create this new markup to make sure that your hard work can be displayed on mobile devices (as well as any future technologies) easily and without any new coding conventions. It’ll take some effort up front, to be sure, but we’re here to help, and the work you put in now will pay for itself tenfold in the future.

Tools we’ve designed to ease the process

We’ve enabled two new features on your community. One is a tool for migrating the “old” infobox code to the new markup. It identifies templates on your wikia that look like infobox templates and places a box on the right rail of the template page. When you click the “Generate draft markup” button in this box, it opens a new tab containing a draft of your infobox using the new markup.

The second is a new feature on Special:Insights that will highlight which infoboxes on your wikia have not been migrated to the new infobox markup. It’s fairly intuitive - you can click on the infobox title link itself to see the old markup, or simply click the “Convert!” button on the right, which performs the same action as the “Generate draft markup” button.

This is our help page for the new markup. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your time!

Italian wiki

Hi. When Italian users are on this site, a message appears at the top of every page: "Ratchet & Clank wiki is also available in Italian". And then, there is the link for enter in a little and very bad wiki. Can you correct that link? The true Ratchet & Clank italian wiki is this: http://it.ratcheteclank.wikia.com/wiki/Ratchet_%26_Clank_Italia_Wiki. Because the wiki you put in the link is extremely poor in every sense. Thank you for the collaboration.

No problem. But first I wanna see the true link

Re: Other side stories and events section

I never got the real answer about them being non canon, although I was confirmed they were spin-offs, directly from an e-mail sent by Insomniac Games. But, nevermind, no problem. It's not the same thing and this issue is yet to be solved. I'm just curious about how we can confirm those "ambiguously canon events" take place after x game, as we have no real information to cover that.

But, overall, I realized you haven't seen all my changes on the page; a particularly section, named "Powers, abilities and weaponry", was poorly written and did not comply with the manual of style we use in this Wiki. What people have to keep in mind is that this is a game. If Ratchet is a "professional sniper, vehicle expert" that can "dodge most of enemy's attacks", that is completely up to the player. It's very relative.

I took some time editing that section in belief of improving the article. I am going to revert the edits again, but only on that said section, ok? Torta de Limão (talk) 15:53, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

Whether we should take those dates from the R&C 1 magazines or not it's still ambigual. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, for instance, takes place in a different galaxy that does not necessarily need to have the same calendar. Basically, we could only state those years for Solana (although I still don't agree with this, as we don't know precisely how the calendar works as it relates to other games in the series). Torta de Limão (talk) 09:37, January 30, 2016 (UTC)

  • We know the year from Ratchet & Clank's point of view - even if it is a different galaxy it is still that year. It's from an Insomniac Games canon source, so it's fine to add.Doc Nef (talk) 13:06, January 30, 2016 (UTC)
    • I know, but that's only sourced for that particular galaxy. Sorry if I am being a bit boring to discuss some things with you xD However, I was teached that the content put in this Wiki needs to, preferably, have a source. What we are doing is estimating something we are not entirely sure about. I don't agree with that. Torta de Limão (talk) 14:09, February 3, 2016 (UTC)
      • Well, how about on the Going Commando page we put "It takes place in the year 5355 going by the Solana Galaxy's year system". I'm sorry if I come off not wanting to discuss things, it's just that there's a lot of work to do on this wiki and I don't really like being interupted from moving on to the next thing that needs fixing/adding.Doc Nef (talk) 15:15, February 3, 2016 (UTC)

Request for administrator or content moderator rights

Hello, DrNefarious. I would like to request for administrator or content moderator rights.

I have thoroughly read the administrators page and the other, corresponding pages.

I have also read the request for user right] page, but I find it quite confusing. It only states the requirements for voting and being a nominee. Does another user have to nominate me before I can be a nominee? It seems like that is the case. I do not think that any user will nominate me, and I would like to make the Ratchet & Clank wiki a better place as soon as possible by fixing files and articles.

My apologies for not quite understanding, but it looks like there has not been a voting taking place since 2009.

Anyway, you seem to be the most active administrator at the moment, so I will ask you here on your talk page.

I know I have not been on this wiki for a long time. In fact, I joined in late April, this year.

I have, however, created and/or edited pages every day since I joined, except for three days after I joined.

I would like to be an administrator/sysop or a content moderator, because I have seen many image files with messy or misleading names, images that need replacing but I cannot replace, article names that are incorrect but I cannot edit because there is another (redirect) page (including those with an apostrophe that I changed which I must change back but cannot), and articles that need to be deleted. I would like to make the Ratchet & Clank wiki a better place by fixing these articles and images, but I currently do not have the required permissions to do so, so I cannot do anything about it. I am waiting to fix broken pages where the title is incorrect, but I cannot without permission.

I would like this wiki to be as good as it can be, as I really like this wiki and the games too.

I am active every day and edit this wiki every day. I am a big fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, and I have played almost every game in the series, so I know a lot about the games, which is why I have such a big interest in this wiki.

Like I said, I have not been on the Ratchet & Clank wiki for a long time, but I have been on Wikia since 2012, so I have quite a lot of experience with Wikia.

I have created several pages, including templates, and have edited a lot of pages. I have made over Special:Editcount/PapiDimmi edits since I joined this wiki.

I have never vandalized a page on any wiki, nor am I planning to.

Thank you for reading my request.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 21:18, May 16, 2016 (UTC).

  • The way it used to work is that a user would be nominated, and then voted for - which would decide whether or not they would become a sysop. However we currently are lacking in admins and even regular users so I may make an exception and promote you to admin without going through the regular procedure, since you seem sincere and are making good edits. I'll let you know in the near future if I've decided to make you an admin.--Doc Nef (talk) 03:53, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I agree. However, media in this category should not be deleted immediately in my opinion. Anyway, there are no active admins in general. c0ητr165 Pl@smo+@!κ 21:14, May 17, 2016 (UTC)
All pages should be deleted. The one you linked is clearly spam and vandalism, and the others are not so bad. However, the other two pages contain misinformation without any sources, and misinformation should not be on the wiki.
Also, about the administrators, DrNefarious is the most active administrator, and he has not contributed to the wiki in a week. However, that is not too long, and nobody expects the administators to be contributing every day. Don Wonderstar

I do not think that we should have one page named “Skid’s agent” and another named “Don Wonderstar” for the re-imagined version of him.

Both should be named the same but one should be a subpage.

Original: Don Wonderstar
Re-imagined: Don Wonderstar/Re-imagined

This way, it becomes less confusing. Besides, he is named “Don Wonderstar” in both games, but his name was only revealed in the re-imagining.

What is your opinion on this?

By the way, I cannot rename the original page to Don Wonderstar because it is already a redirect page.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 04:24, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

In the original series he was only ever called "Skid's agent" (so that's his primary name for his "original" series self), while the Don Wonderstar name is the primary name used for his re-imagined self. That's why in this case we go:

  • Original: Skid's agent (with Don Wonderstar/Original as a redirect)
  • Re-imagined: Don Wonderstar (with Skid's agent/Re-imagined as a redirect)

The title for Skid's agent still appears as "Don Wonderstar" because that's his real name, but fans who are only familiar with the original games will still search for him as "Skid's agent", while new fans will want to see the re-imagined version, and will serach Don Wonderstar. That's why we do the naming scheme like this. Doc Nef (talk) 04:31, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I unfortunately do not agree with this, because if people search or go to the page “Skid’s agent,” they get redirected to the original. “Don Wonderstar” can redirect to the re-imagined one. It gets confusing when we do not label them. Besides, if people are confused, they can look on the tabs on top which specify whether the page is about the re-imagined game or the original game. They can also just look in the “Appearances” section. I think that all pages should be seperated with “Name” and “Name/Re-imagined,” not just the ones that do not get a new name in the re-imagined. It just gets messy that way. Skid’s agent is both called “Skid’s agent” and “Don Wonderstar” in the re-imagined game. I actually do not remember him being called by his full name in the re-imagined game. Was it in the credits? Either way, I doubt that many people will search for him in specific. I think that they will just search for “Skid’s agent.” This is the same as I feel with Drek/Alonzo Drek. Most articles do not have alternate names in the re-imagined game; I think that all articles should follow the same “Name” and “Name/Re-imagined” rule. It becomes more organized that way. We just use the DISPLAYTITLE magic word to edit the appearance of the title.

Both the original and re-imagined Skid’s agent pages are named “Don Wonderstar” now, because the original uses DISPLAYTITLE. That is confusing. Anyway, Don Wonderstar is his full name, regardless of game. The re-imagined takes place the same time and places as the original game anyway, and it is the same person.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 04:34, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I'm not so sure about this, and it's not messy as long as nobody messes up the redirects when creating the pages. You might be right that it'll look better, I'll do some testing and get back to you later. Also there's no need to change the apostrophes on pages.--Doc Nef (talk) 04:42, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I think that the original page should be titled Don Wonderstar (since it is his full name), but DISPLAYTITLE should be used to change it to “Skid’s agent,” perhaps. And the re-imagined could be Don Wonderstar/Re-imagined and have the name changed to “Don Wonderstar” also using DISPLAYTITLE.
I do not think that we should have exceptions for those rules just because the character’s real name was revealed in the reboot. It is a reboot after all, which means that it is the same character in the same timeline, in the same place. It is better to have one page about the original character, and a subpage about the re-imagined character. They are the same character, and having two pages both about the same character but one has one name for the character and the other has another name for the character, it becomes unclear as to whether the article is about the original or re-imagined character, and it becomes less organized.
About the apostrophes, I have changed straight apostrophes to curly apostrophes and straight quotation marks to curly quotation marks because those are the proper punctuation marks, and they are more professional, especially for a wiki which intends to be professional. The curly marks will be found in more professional and good typography. I have changed to the proper marks on many pages, but if you do want to discuss, we can do so. My apologies for not starting a discussion about the subject earlier.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 04:48, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

It's okay, but if your going to make a big change in a wikia community you must always start a discussion beforehand and be patient. Apostrophes may not seem like a big change, but it can be. It's best not to change the apostrophes, as while professionalism is important on wiki, ease of use is even more important. For example, changing the apostrophes would be a pain for the likes of me, since my keyboard does not have the curly apostrophe type, only the straight one.--Doc Nef (talk) 04:59, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I agree; I should have discussed the matter before I took action on changing the punctuation marks. However, I was unfamiliar with the Ratchet & Clank wiki’s users. Although I know to discuss matters like this in the future now. It is not a difficult task for me to change the punctuation marks, and I could on my own, although, if there is a disagreement, I sincerely apologize and will revert changes that I have made and stop changing the marks.
What are your thoughts on the matter of Don Wonderstar? Like I said, I do not think that it is a smart idea to have the name which was revealed in the re-imagined game be the lone title as opposed to “Don Wonderstar/Re-imagined”—or even “Skid’s agent/Re-imagined.” Either way, I think it is best if the re-imagined name is a subpage for the original and has “/Re-imagined” in the title but is changed with the DISPLAYTITLE magic word template like all of the other re-imagined pages. We should always be consistent on a wiki. I am unsure as to whether or not we will come to an agreement on this matter, although I would like further discussion.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 05:05, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

It would be best to change to apostrophes back. I'm starting to think you might be right about the Don Wonderstar thing. I need to go off wiki for a little while though cause I have some stuff to do. I'll be on again later today (or tomorrow) though and tell you what I've decided on the matter.--Doc Nef (talk) 05:10, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

The reason as to why I wanted the apostrophes and quotation marks (also called “smart quotes”) to be curly is because they are considered more professional, or formal if you will, because they symbolize the proper use of punctuation as opposed to the straight quotation marks which are dubbed “dumb quotes.” I can understand how the curly quotation marks can be less of ease than the straight ones, as your keyboard may not have such keys available, like you said, but the quotation marks are more appealing and common in good typography such as The New York Times.
Technically, the straight quotation marks (' and ") are incorrect but have been accepted as a standard. I have changed the marks on every page I have come across. I do agree that it was faulty of me to not discuss the matter beforehand, and I, again, apologize for that. I do not intend to put my opinion above anyone else’s, and I would like to discuss the matter further until we come to a reasonable agreement. As I am active on the wiki daily, others have no worry, because I could change the marks myself, as I have done since I joined. Alternatively we could use a bot, although that is not essential. Again, my apologies for not discussing the matter. I have started to discuss any matter before taking action, and I will do so any time in the future when necessary. Since there is an apparent disagreement, I could revert all of the quotation mark edits which I have made, although it would be arduous.
I will be looking forward to speak to you anew when you return, and I hope that we can come to an agreement. Cheers, PapíDimmi 05:20, May 18, 2016 (UTC).
I just wanted to discuss something which you said which I missed earlier.
“In the original series he was only ever called ‘Skid’s agent’ (so that’s his primary name for his ‘original’ series self), while the Don Wonderstar name is the primary name used for his re-imagined self.”
This is not true, as Don Wonderstar was never referred to by name in the re-imagined game. At least I cannot remember anybody saying “Don Wonderstar” in the re-imagined game, but I might be wrong. I do think that he was only referred to as “Skid’s agent” in the re-imagined game as well as the original game, though.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 06:24, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

No need to keep apologizing for the error, but ease of use is the most important factor here so we will need the apostrophes to be reverted back to the previous ones. In the re-imagined game Skid's agent calls himself Don Wonderstar when you encounter him and Skidd "Just tell em Don Wonderstar sent ya", and also the description of his holo-card says that is his real name. I've decided that your right, we should have them labeled the way you said - and then we can just use the DISPLAYTITLE magic word to title the page how we want, so we'll have Don Wonderstar and Don Wonderstar/Re-imagined.--Doc Nef (talk) 08:09, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I will stop reverting the straight apostrophes to the smart ones, and I will revert all curly quotation marks to the straight quotation marks, which I have now started doing. I personally prefer the curly quotation marks as they are more proper and look better, and they also do not need the nowiki formatting to show possession with an italic or bold word; however I do understand that ease of use is an important factor, and I do not want to be in the way of that at any degree.
I had forgotten that he called himself “Don Wonderstar.” Although even though he did, there is no reason to remove the “/Re-imagined” from the title. Anyway, it is good that that matter is now settled. If you would like to keep the theme which we discussed, you should rename Skid's agent to “Don Wonderstar,” whilst Don Wonderstar/Re-imagined remains the same. I cannot do so, because I do not have the required permissions, for there already is a page—a redirect page—titled “Don Wonderstar.”
Cheers, PapíDimmi 10:19, May 18, 2016 (UTC).

Missions category (suggestion)

Currently there is sixteen Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando mission articles, with no categories. Missions are in almost every Ratchet & Clank game and multiple missions appear in one level/planet. Should a missions category be made? --Tumpp1357 (talk) 17:58, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

  • Maybe, or we could merge the missions with their planet by putting them on a "list of missions" section.--Doc Nef (talk) 04:50, May 19, 2016 (UTC)

Categories on redirect pages

I have seen several redirect pages with categories, although is it really necessary for redirect pages to have categories? What do you think?[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 06:37, May 21, 2016 (UTC)

  • I don't think so.Doc Nef (talk) 11:15, May 30, 2016 (UTC)

The Plumber doesn’t need his own re-imagined page?

All re-imagined articles should be a page on their own, with some exceptions. The Plumber appears differently, says different things, does different things, etc. in the re-imagined version. Plus, the re-imagined version doesn’t take place in the same universe as all the other games, so it didn’t happen in the same timeline. These are the reasons as to why The Plumber, among other characters, locations, items, etc., should have their own articles.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 08:55, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

  • The Plumber should be the only exception however, as he is the same character as the one who appeared in the original series, unlike every other character in the game.Doc Nef (talk) 09:00, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
What do you mean “the same”? Do you mean that he looks the same? Maybe he does, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s not the same character. Like I said, Ratchet & Clank (2016 game) takes place in a different universe—in a different timeline. Therefore, the re-imagined version of The Plumber is not the same The Plumber who appeared in the older games, which is why he should have his own page, like all the other re-imagined characters. He may look the same as he did in the original game, but he is a different version of that character, in a different universe.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:03, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
He is the same character as the one who appeared in previous games, he even basically says that he's the same Plumber in-game "have we met before?" "see you in the next reboot" etc - to the confusion of re-imagined Ratchet. It's clear from all the Ratchet & Clank games that The Plumber is some kind of higher entity, he can travel anywhere so it does not matter that it's a different timeline. Original Plumber and "re-imagined Plumber" are one character.--Doc Nef (talk) 09:10, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
The Plumber is a character who breaks the fourth wall and “knows everything.” That doesn’t mean that they are the same character, though. It’s just a funny little fourth wall break. All The Plumber characters in the original article are from the same universe, except The Plumber from the reboot; therefore, it’s not consistent to have it on the original page. It doesn’t make sense if every character except The Plumber were from a different universe and weren’t the same character. The Plumber is still a different character, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense that The Plumber does the same things which he did in the original game, is at the same location, etc. Ratchet, Clank, and everyone else are the same characters but from a different universe and timeline. That’s why Ratchet, Clank, and everyone else don’t remember that they’ve been there, done that. The Plumber is the only character who mentions anything about the original games, but that’s because he always breaks the fourth wall and knows everything, so it would make not make any sense if they didn’t include that in the reboot, as well.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:18, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
I don't see why it does not make sense that he is the same character, and him doing the same thing as he did previously does not prove he is a new character. The Plumber knows that the pre-reboot events happened. All The Plumber characters on the article are from the same universe, including his reboot appearance - after the games were rebooted he simply ended up in the reboot universe. He was previously stated in Tools of Destruction to have "been everywhere in the [original] universe, and beyond" so that shows that he can go to other universes anyway.--Doc Nef (talk) 09:27, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── The main article (The Plumber) is about The Plumber in the original universe—it’s all the same universe. The re-imagined article (The Plumber) is about The Plumber in the re-imagined universe. Different universe, different article. We need to have them separated, because the re-imagined The Plumber is not the same as the original The Plumber. He’s all-knowing and all that, but he’s still in a different universe. It’s important to keep these separated, since the original The Plumbers live in a different universe to the re-imagined The Plumber, and the originals are all connected, whilst the re-imagined is not. It also avoids confusion by separating them.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:32, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

  • They are seemingly the same character though. I suppose we can have a re-imagined Plumber page, but it will need to be noted on both pages that they are seemingly the same characer, unlike with other characaters who appear.Doc Nef (talk) 09:35, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
But they aren’t seemingly the same character—well, it depends on what you mean by that. Every re-imagined character is seemingly the same character as their original counterpart, but the difference is that the past is wiped, and they are in a different universe. The Plumber is no different. He’s all-knowing, which is why he had déjà vu when he met Ratchet & Clank in the reboot, but that doesn’t mean that he’s still a different version of himself in a different universe with a different past, etc.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:38, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
It's up to interpretation, one could say he did not have deja vu and that he was testing Ratchet to see if he remembered as well. The Plumber also mentions that he'll "see Ratchet in the next reboot".--Doc Nef (talk) 09:47, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, one could say that, but they’re not reasons to remove a page and move the re-imagined information to the original page. Also, the “I’ll see you in the next reboot” comment was added because he always breaks the fourth wall, so he had to do it now, too. It doesn’t have any significance in the plot.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:49, July 10, 2016 (UTC)
Yeh, I said we can remake the page, but with an added mention that it is suggested that The Plumber is still the same character.--Doc Nef (talk) 10:09, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── He’s not the same character. However, I’ve undid your edits and included that he’s an all-knowing being on both The Plumber and The Plumber/Re-imagined.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 10:11, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

Question about your edit

Hi. Regarding this edit of yours, why should a “Behind the Scenes” section be used? Firstly, the word “scenes” should not be capitalized, and secondly, I don’t think that the “Behind the scenes” section fit the purpose of explaining the fourth wall breaks and the omniscience of The Plumber in the game. The “Behind the scenes” section is used for out-of-universe information, such as the development of the subject, the voice actor, etc.

Since the content under the “Behind the scenes” section in the The Plumber article is about the video game, a.k.a. it’s in-universe, the section shouldn’t be named that, correct?[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 10:34, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

I’ve removed the “Behind the Scenes” section and integrated its content into the “The Plumber/Re-imagined#Biography” section (my edit). Some of the information under the “Behind the Scenes” section was already in the “Biography” section; repeating information is unnecesary.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 10:44, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

The behind the scenes section talked about how the in-game material related to non in-game things, like the reference to a possible future game. However, you have managed to merge it into the Biography quite well so I see that there is no need for a behind the scenes section, your edit makes the page cleaner than it would be otherwise.--Doc Nef (talk) 10:48, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters Weapon Mods

I went to the Weapon mods article and almost all Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters Weapon mods are red links and once that do exits do not have a lot of information about them. And the weapons that have mods do not have links to their weapon specific mods. (All weapon mods are uniqe and can be only purcahsed to one weapon, except the Lock-on-mod.) I could edit the pages but do you want a separete article for each mod or the mods information added into their weapon pages. Also I don't have the tech to take photos of the mods from the mod wendors so someone should do that.

Ratchet & Clank

Regarding the Ratchet & Clank (2002 game) demo Ratchet & Clank (2002 game) (stylized as Ratchet & Clank), I have a question:

Is it really called “Ratchet and Clank”? Why would they use “and” instead of an ampersand (&)? The title screen says “RATCHET & CLANK,” so if there’s an ampersand on the title screen, why is the article titled “Ratchet & Clank”?[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 03:45, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

  • The demo disc that the demo comes on refers lists the game as "Ratchet & Clank".Doc Nef (talk) 03:52, September 14, 2016 (UTC)
Odd. Maybe it’s an error, since the title screen says “Ratchet & Clank,” not “Ratchet & Clank.” The name will remain “Ratchet & Clank,” though.[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 01:00, September 15, 2016 (UTC)

Canon timeline

Should Secret Agent Clank and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters really be in the canon timeline? • They also have never been confirmed not to be part of the timeline, so not having them is also speculative you see. That's why they are placed there but labelled as "ambiguous".Doc Nef (talk) 12:59, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

User rights

Could you grant rollback rights to User:Tumpp1357 and admin rights to User:Jak Himself? Tumpp is reliable and Jak Himself is more capable with parts of .css/.js than some of us, which should prove useful. Plus, since you're the sole active bureaucrat I feel like you'll want to have input in any changes we would want to bring, do you expect us to wait for your opinion or can we do as we see fit based on majority consensus? A bit of trust goes a long way here and as you can see in the recent changes page, we're moving quite fast. Rest assured the R&C wiki is in our best interests, for now our game plan is to cull the maintenance section by categorizing uncategorized pages/categories/files, deleting or putting to use unused categories/files and fixing or creating wanted pages/files/templates/categories (aka redlinks). --Tim H - Talk 17:41, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

And if you need any further/personal confirmation, I am willing to fulfill administrative duties here anyway (beyond just css/js stuff). Like Tim (or Jo) said, the J&D wiki is still priority, but we may as well prepare for the transition now, and we can begin doing the preliminary groundwork. —Jak Himself (talk · contributions) 03:42, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

I didn't give Jak Himself the admin rights yesterday because he was not part of the discussion at the time and as such had not accepted the offer personally, but now that he's arrived and accepted them I've given them to him.

On the subject of my input of things as a bureaucrat, in the majority of cases I think it is fine for you to do things based on a consensus (even without my input). However if the discussion is about something very very major to the wiki that will greatly affect it then I must be informed (for example: altering the wiki's view on canon, which would in turn would greatly alter every page).--Doc Nef (talk) 09:19, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

Doubt we'll tackle anything major like that for now. Current plan is to clean up the specialpages' maintenance section, seen in my sandbox on my userpage. After that'll we'll bring up stuff on the forums that we intend to work on, in which case I recommend checking the top-right notification thingy every so often. --Tim H - Talk 10:30, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

That all looks good. I'm fine with another bureaucrat as well, since I am not able to be active enough. However, I am not too sure about changing the wiki's color from orange to blue, as orange is one of the signature colors of the series, alongside the bronze/silver logo.--Doc Nef (talk) 08:44, October 30, 2016 (UTC)

We took blue because it had a spacey/industrial feel to it. It's not final in any case and we just wanted something different to go along with the other new design updates. If you haven't yet, please lend your support on the forum pages I linked (unless you're doing that while I type). --Tim H - Talk 09:07, October 30, 2016 (UTC)

For the record it would be more convenient for you to promote Tim H yourself rather than asking Staff to do it. (In fact I don't think they would since you're an active bcrat.) And yes, like LD said, the color's temporary, and ultimately I'm of the opinion we should use a more silvery/muted blue to match the industrial/space aesthetic of the series (I don't see how orange is a signature color of the series?) —Jak Himself (talk · contributions) 21:49, October 30, 2016 (UTC)

It's the color of Lombaxes, Ratchet's GC and UYA ships, and the ToD Aphelion. However, I still say a silvery/muted blue works better - it's used in the Clank part of the logo, is the color on most promotional material (largely due to Metropolis), and suits thematically. And yup, I'd say it's better if you make us bcrats, DrNef, than if Staff does it, assuming no one objects.--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 00:39, October 31, 2016 (UTC)

Eh, I still don't see how that makes it the "signature" color. The ships are more reddish than orange, almost a red-brown, and the Lombaxes are a more brownish-tan. The orange we had before was like Fanta orange, not even close. And yeah, at least 70% of the official R&C posters have a primarily blue color scheme. —Jak Himself (talk · contributions) 00:48, October 31, 2016 (UTC)

I don't really like having three bureaucrats, I think two is enough, but I'm okay with it under these circumstances (since I am not on much) where would mostly only have two bureaucrats - with one being a stand in for me, however if I get to become more active on here, then I would want one of the new bureaucrats to step down. Would that be okay?

With the renaming of the wiki, I don't mind if it is renamed, but I don't mind if it is not renamed either.--Doc Nef (talk) 03:07, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

Why not have three or four? --Tim H - Talk 10:17, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

So, in my opinion, three bcrats is arguably ideal. This is because an odd number of bcrats can come to a decision much more easily and have a clear consensus one way. Same reason the Supreme Court has an uneven number of people. However, if you're really uncomfortable with the idea of having three, then I wouldn't mind stepping down should you return to activity.--Courtney Gears promo render.png Technobliterator TC 11:12, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

In my experience there are usually not that many bureaucrats on a wiki, usually two. I think three is a stretch and four would be far too many. Technobliterator, with your example of a clear consensus between three bureaucrats, the third is not needed for that purpose, as the wiki's admins will be involved if the two bureaucrats alone cannot come to a consensus on something and a clear consensus will still be obtained.--Doc Nef (talk) 11:31, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

I agree we don't need three bureaucrats for voting purposes, since all admins should be involved in a decision making process, if not the entire community. That said, I'd say the only bureaucrats who should step down/resign are those who don't use their rights/fulfill their responsibilities. And Tim and Jo have been around forever with no breaks of inactivity, which is why, as a contributor at this wiki, I'd like to see them two at the top since they're reliable, and reliability is, in my opinion, the first factor to be considered when it comes to bureaucratship (since it's a hassle getting inactive bureaucrats demoted, plus, they need to be around to promote new admins).

Let's not forget that a bureaucrat is nothing more than an admin who can promote/demote other admins. So the only time one should step down is if you don't need to be a bcrat, or if you're not fulfilling the need to begin with.

Furthermore, DrNef, could you point to an example wiki where they have no more than two bcrats? I've never heard of this before. I do agree that the amount of bcrats and admins should remain proportional to its active user base for the sake of appropriateness, but in this case, like I said, three seems well within appropriateness. Especially considering this wiki's past with inactive bureaucrats. —Jak Himself (talk · contributions) 19:48, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

Something else for a sec, you're aware of the fact that as a bureaucrat you can make me one as well right away right? Don't need to ask staff to do it (I assume you don't know since you did support the motion on the forums). --Tim H - Talk 19:59, November 3, 2016 (UTC)

I am aware that I can make you a bureaucrat right away Tim H, I just wanted to get this discussion finished first. I suppose that this three bureaucrats thing is not really an issue that needs to be tackled right now (and probably any time soon), so we can just put it on hold for now. I'll promote Tim H and Technobliterator right away.--Doc Nef (talk) 02:46, November 4, 2016 (UTC)

Discord is how we coordinate big projects in real-time, so people who aren't a part of that simply aren't a part of the decision-making process. It is better for prolonged discussions about major decisions so it doesn't clutter up the wiki (summaries of the decisions/arguments can be posted to the wiki for the public). It is permanent so it serves as a suitable public record in lieu of "old-fashioned" talk pages. Lastly it's also good just to build a rapport since we're all on daily and can keep up with each other/check in/ask quick questions/etc. --Tim H - Talk 22:10, May 23, 2018 (UTC)

Ah fair enough I suppose, I'll join. Where are we be keeping an archive of it on the wiki? --Doc Nef (talk) 22:11, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
