Explore Sargasso and Trade Souls for the Decryptor are missions in Tools of Destruction, taking place in Outpost L51 on Sargasso. After learning that there was a lombax testing facility for the Dimensionator on Sargasso Talwyn, Ratchet, and Clank quickly set out to search the planet for the location.

Walkthrough[]

After landing, make your way to the armor and weapons vendors nearby. Though the weapons vendor has nothing new, the armor vendor still offers the Helios armor, which is worth purchasing if you have not acquired it yet. Proceed ahead to the Smuggler and trigger a cutscene, completing the mission "Explore Sargasso". Immediately after, continue with the mission "Trade Souls for the Decryptor".

Trade Souls for the Decryptor[]

Engage in all available conversations with the Smuggler to receive a generous gift of 500 raritanium. Your next task is to locate three leviathan souls, which are required for trading and obtaining the Decryptor gadget. Keep in mind that there are no basilisk leviathans present on Sargasso, and the giant troglosaurs cannot be harmed. This leaves the grunthors as the sole leviathan enemies to hunt. As you enter the wilderness area adjacent to the Smuggler, you will quickly encounter a grunthor: a formidable dinosaur-like adversary with an extensive health pool. Grunthors primarily attack by spitting multiple small fireballs, or by biting and stomping when in close proximity.

Due to the high health of the grunthor, it is advisable to rely on stronger weapons to weaken them. If using V5 weapons to weaken them, make sure to still deal the final blow should be dealt with lower-level weapons to avoid wasting the substantial experience points they offer upon defeat; unnlike basilisk leviathans, grunthors are not considered bosses, so they do not grant experience on hit. Effective weapons against them include the Shard Reaper (especially if fully upgraded), Nano-Swarmers, and the Buzz Blades (although they are less effective in open areas).

For now, the only other enemies you will encounter are the anthropods and grubsnuckers. Anthropods are giant beetles that dwell underground and swarm you if you get too close. Grubsnuckers, on the other hand, are massive flying insectoids that spit projectiles from a distance. Dispatching both of these enemies is relatively straightforward using any of the aforementioned weapons, and the Nano-Swarmers, Plasma Beasts, and Mr. Zurkon can fight them while focusing on the bigger grunthors. Additionally, the Tornado Launcher is particularly effective against anthropods due to their tendency to swarm, and can be useful when not focusing on grunthors.

In total, there are three grunthors to defeat in this area, along with numerous grubsnuckers and anthropods. There are no other notable items, but defeating these enemies will yield a substantial amount of raritanium. Utilize this raritanium to upgrade your weaker weapons, followed by the Buzz Blades (preferably with More ricochets and the Cesium Blade Edges upgrade) and the Nano-Swarmers (with Bigger area and More ammo). It is also a good idea to visit the vendor intermittently between grunthor hunts to replenish your ammo and restore your nanotech.

Once you have finished your tasks, return to the Smuggler to receive the Decryptor and proceed with the next mission, "Search from the Sky".
