Thermosplitters[1] are enemies in Tools of Destruction. They are small laser security bots that defend the Apogee Space Station. Ratchet and Clank fought them during "Search the Station".
Thermosplitters attack in close range by spinning toward Ratchet with a pair of thermal lasers. Though they are relatively slow and have minimal range, they attack in groups and are quite sturdy. Strong weapons with an area of effect such as the Fusion Grenade, Tornado Launcher, and Shock Ravager are effective against them, and Ratchet should keep a good distance; the Groovitron may be necessary if they become overwhelming.
The Pyrospinner in A Crack in Time has a very similar appearance, using flames rather than lasers.
