Stygia is a location in Deadlocked. Located in the Shadow Sector of the Solana Galaxy, it is a planet that is continually bombarded by meteor showers. The planet is protected by the Tempus Control Station that generates a powerful defense shield protecting it from the meteor shower, though deactivating it would destroy the planet and its native population within hours.

Vox Industries used Stygia as the site of a DreadZone battlecourse, which Ratchet and Team Darkstar participated in. For the Stygia challenges, Vox deactivated the planet's defense shield, meaning Team Darkstar had to turn them back on before the planet's population were annihilated.

History[]

The Poor People of Stygia

The control station.

Stygia was described as a "beautiful world" for its pink sand beaches and friendly service, though the planet's Tempus Control Station was necessary to prevent it from becoming barren and lifeless as a result of meteor impacts.[1][2] The Tempus Control Station was protected by a group known as the Knights of Tempus.[3]

In order to make for an exciting episode that would receive good ratings, DreadZone deactivated them for the Stygia battlecourse that Ratchet participated in.[1][2] Ratchet and Team Darkstar fought and succeeded against DreadZone troopers to reactivate the shields and protect the planet from the asteroid bombardment.

Unlike other Dreadzone battlecourses, there were no Dread Challenges available for Ratchet to complete on Stygia.

Geography[]

Tempus Control Station map

The Tempus Control Station map.

Stygia appears to be a cold planet with tall mountains reaching above its thick clouds and harsh lightning storms. However, it is described as also being home to pink sand beaches and having friendly service, suggesting the surface below is a popular tourist destination.[1] In addition to the mountains that reach above the clouds are immense metal towers, especially near the Tempus Control Station. In the distance from the station are round, floating structures high above ground that resemble residential buildings.

The Tempus Control Station comprises a cluster of immense towers high above Stygia's surface. Of the towers in the control station are a control tower, the shield generator (the largest building), and several lightning collectors,[4] likely used to power the shield. Sky bridges connect these towers together, and across the towers, round platforms form a walkable path around the station.

Multiplayer[]

Part of the Tempus Control Station is featured in multiplayer as the Tempus Station map. The accessible terrain encompasses almost the entire map, except for the initial path featured at the start of the arena challenges. The main feature is the massive circular structure, which includes its entire underside which is traversible thanks to its grav-ramps. It connects to the triangular structure with a bridge, which is where the Landstalker is located.

Players can also use the jump pads on the main structure to reach the two outer platforms located next to it, from where it is possible to use the Hypershot to swing to the center one to access a hovership. Lastly, said hovership can be used to reach a lone island close to the triangular structure that contains a massive cache of every available item in multiplayer.
