Template:Cite youtube is used to properly format a citation or reference to YouTube videos.

Usage

For a reference:

* {{cite youtube |id= |video id= |title= |hr= |min= |sec= |channel id= |channel name= |publish-date= |access-date= }}

For a citation:

<ref name="">{{cite youtube |video id= |title= |hr= |min= |sec= |channel id= |channel name= |publish-date= |access-date= }}</ref>

Parameters

Optional

id

This parameter should be used with references of this template in combination with a shortened footnote. For example, <ref>[[#Foo]], @01:15:00</ref> should correspond to a use of this template with an id of Foo.

Required

video id

The ID of the video to be cited (the string after ?w= in the YouTube URL).

Required

title

The title of the video (preferably copy and paste from the YouTube video's title itself).

Optional

hr, min, sec

The hour, minute, and second, respectively, of the desired timestamp to be cited. It is preferred that citations directly link to the relevant timestamp, especially for long videos, though these parameters are technically not required.

Optional

channel id

The ID of the YouTube channel that published the video.

Optional

channel name

The name of the YouTube channel that published the video.

Required

publish-date

The date that the video being cited was published (found in the description area of YouTube).

Required

access-date

The date on which the YouTube video was cited by the editor (i.e., the current date) in Month, Day, Year format.
