A Taxi would often appear at the end of a level instead of a teleporter. They were yellow and black platforms which Ratchet could jump onto, and he could travel to the specified place by pressing triangle. They were invented to allow the player to go back to their ship quickly while observing the landscape. Sometimes annoyingly, they could take a hefty amount of time, especially on urban levels. Albeit, they're usually found on urban levels, not only to obverse the landscape, but to transport through the various narrow passageways and also to fit the level (taxis would be found in a city).

Taxis appeared throughout Qwark's version of events similar to the original events. A taxi appeared in Aleero City, Kerwan, taking Ratchet and Clank back to Downtown Aleero City from the Hall of Heroes at any time. Later, two taxis appeared in Blackwater City on Rilgar. One appeared by the raceway plaza after "Travel to the hoverboard event", and would take Ratchet to and from the plaza thereafter. Taxis are vehicles in Ratchet & Clank, the 2016 re-imagined game and movie, Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal, Tools of Destruction, and All 4 One. They are flying vehicles used to transport Ratchet and Clank to specified areas in cities, such as Metropolis, often in place of teleporters.

History

Ratchet & Clank

Taxis first appeared in Metropolis on planet Kerwan. After "Visit Al's Roboshack," a taxi appeared next to the entrance of Al's roboshack, allowing Ratchet and Clank to return to their ship, used if they could not afford the Heli-Pack. Similarly, at the end of "Complete fitness course," a taxi appears at the end of Captain Qwark's fitness course by Helga von Streissenburgen, used if they could not afford her Swingshot. After purchasing it, Helga took the taxi back herself, and the two could no longer use it. When the two found gold bolts in hard to reach areas of the city, a taxi would appear taking them back to their ship.

Taxis later appeared in Blackwater City on planet Rilgar. A taxi would appear along the path to the raceway plaza in "Win the hoverboard race," taking the two downtown. After reaching the raceway plaza, a taxi would take them back to their ship at any time. Similarly, after finding Qwark's trailer in "Locate Captain Qwark," a taxi would take them back to the same area if they chose. The taxi from their ship always took them back to the raceway plaza.

A taxi appeared once more in the central plaza of Gorda City on planet Oltanis, which took Ratchet to a different route for "Search the destroyed city."

Re-imagined

The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.
The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.

Taxi in the movie

Taxis appeared in Qwark's version of events and in the holo-film. In the holo-film, a taxi with a robot driver appeared in Aleero City on planet Kerwan after the blarg's attack on the Hall of Heroes, with Victor Von Ion landing in a taxi, telling the driver to get out, and taking it back to retreat.

Additionally, after reaching Blackwater Market following "Escape the sewers!", a taxi would take them two and from their ship. Two taxis would appear by the ship's starting position after this.

Going Commando

A taxi first appeared in Canal City, Notak, after exploring the chemical factory in "Search Canal City for thief", used to transport Ratchet from the chemical factory back to his ship. The next was in the testing facility, Dobbo, appearing after meeting the Mathematician in "Explore the testing facility", used to transport from Ratchet's ship to the Ultra-Mech Pad. Another appeared in Joba to transport Ratchet from the Megacorp Games arena back to his ship and vice versa.

In Silver City, Boldan, a taxi was used to transport Ratchet to the hyper-expressway for "Open the main entrance". Finally, in Allgon City, Damosel, a taxi appeared after "Save the overrun planet", when Ratchet met the Hypnotist. After he assembled the Hypnomatic, he then used the taxi to leave, until Ratchet used the Hypnomatic to control a Receiver Bot and activate a button for another taxi to appear and take him to his ship.

Up Your Arsenal

Supernova Taxi

Qwark, disguised as a woman, calling the Supernova Taxi service.

A taxi was used on Daxx, returning Ratchet and Clank to their ship after they viewed the Courtney Gears music video for "Robots of the Galaxy" in "Explore the Docks". They used another in Metropolis to return from the grav-train to their ship.

Captain Qwark used a taxi service named Supernova Taxi after crashing on Zeldrin. Qwark disguised himself as a woman and flirted with the taxi driver, refusing to reveal his destination until after they arrived.[1] This taxi presumably took him to his hideout on the Thran Asteroid Belt. Ratchet also made of a taxi to leave Qwark's room in his hideout and return to his ship.

All 4 One

The air taxi, a variant of the taxi, was called at a stop by comet-striking a sign. Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Nefarious used it to pursue the Z'Grute. When it arrived, the heroes found that the steering was malfunctioned so that they took advantage of its gravity coils to drive the taxi by shifting their weight to either side of the taxi. More characters on the right side of the taxi would shift it to the right; this also applied to shift to the left and also to speed up and to slow down by shifting to the front and the rear, respectively.

The taxi had a health meter, and it had to avoid oncoming traffic from air cars otherwise it would be destroyed. The Z'Grute ended up destroying the taxi which left the heroes to fall down onto grind tubes below.

A trophy was awarded to players if they completed the air taxi section without losing any health, called Keep the Meter Running.

The back of the taxi also has a vent with red lights behind it, and a large antenna. In Tools of Destruction, the back also has two seats.

Taxis can only travel to one specified location. Many are found by reaching objectives, at which point, they will always appear from the starting position to return to the area. Sometimes, one will arrive at a specific area, often to return Ratchet from secret areas.
