Ratchet & Clank Wiki

Sludge slingers are enemies in Secret Agent Clank. Sludge slingers are robots from Venantonio filled with deadly purple slime. Sludge slingers also had an upgraded variety called bolt thieves from Bud-Fx.

Clank encountered both sludge slingers and bolt thieves working for the Kingpin. Sludge slingers were first encountered on Venantonio during "Crashing the Party" and subsequent missions, then appeared once again guarding Klunk's underwater base. Bolt thieves meanwhile were present during the Kingpin's raid on Fort Sprocket during "Hard Currency" and the following mission.

Characteristics[]

The sludge slingers enjoyed crushing the meek and humble, they came equipped with the "sludge slinger 5000" sludge cannons that were the top of the line in sludge slinging technology and had been upgraded to receive information in stereo, however they had poor depth perception.[1]

Following their military careers many sludge slingers went on to become politicians,[1] however others became extremely wealthy and opted to be upgraded into bolt thieves. The bolt thieves were improved from their prior incarnation in that they could vacuum up and fire out bolts rather than sludge, they were specially made from the shells of poor robots, and their immense wealth meant that they were willing to go through millions to ensure the death of targets. Most of their traits revolved around money: they're eyes possessed the capable to see into wallets, and they received constant updates from the Intergalactic Stock Exchange. The bolt thieves weapon could both vacuum up bolts or fire them off in different ways; such as converting 100,000 into a hi-explosive round, or by rapid firing 1,000 a second.[2]

Combat[]

Sludge slingers and bolt thieves attacked by continuously firing from their cannons, though sludge slingers fired goo while bolt thieves used supersonic bolts; these bolts can be collected after they have fired if they miss Clank. Both types of robot were easily defeated using stealth takedowns when they turned their backs. During straight combat it is recommended to strafe as much as possible, using ranged weapons like the Tanglevine Carnation and Cufflink Bomb to handle them.
