Search for Clues and Solve the Riddles of Darkwater are missions in Quest for Booty, taking place in Darkwater Cove on Merdegraw. The Smuggler translated the map that Ratchet found on Captain Darkwater's remains and took him and Talwyn Apogee to Darkwater Cove to look for the Fulcrum Star.

Walkthrough[]

Upon arrival, the Smuggler will give Ratchet his Predator Launcher and Nano-Swarmers back. He will also offer to sell the Alpha Cannon, but at 50,000 bolts, this is highly unlikely to be within your budget for now, especially considering the payment for translating the map. The Predator Launcher is good at targeting multiple enemies from afar, while the Nano-Swarmers are a strong supporting weapon.

Approach the pirate skull and exhaust all of the options until it demands you fight several anthropods, which are easily defeated at this point. Head through the now-open gate until you reach a small open space with an option to go left and right.

Angstrom's Tune[]

Going left leads, past a few anthropods, to a trail of platforms across the water, which sink when you stand on them. Use the catapult at the end to launch yourself to a trio of platforms in front of a door, which must be moved to the side with the tether while avoiding standing too long on a sinking platform. Go through the remains of the ship to reach another platform trail and a spring pad. Ignore the pad and instead jump over the netting on the left to find another platform trail that leads to the Gyro-Turbine upgrade for the Tornado Launcher (causing its tornadoes to last twice as long), and another spring pad to where you need to go.

Talk to the pirate skull here to play the Angstrom's Tune puzzle. The skull will play a simple melody on the organ, which has to be copied exactly. Repeat this two more times with increasingly complex melodies to clear the skull's demands. Use the grind rail at the left to return to the main area and head for the right path.

Going to the right reveals several platforms with a Swingshot versa-target to a cave with a few heliogrubs. Use the floating platforms to create a path across for yourself with the tether, then take a grub with you to scare away the local gore thwogs. Momentarily drop your grub to fight several anthropods up ahead, but otherwise take it with you to see where you are going while climbing the ascending platforms inside the cave. At the top is a zipline that takes you to the Angstrom's Brew puzzle.

Talk to the Bartender to receive a riddle which requires you to mix a drink, in the right order, with the fluids present; a cold blue drink, a bubbly yellow drink, a swirling green drink, and a hot red drink. The answer to each riddle is: yellow, blue, and green for the first; green, red, and yellow for the second; and finally green, blue, and yellow for the last drink.

Angstrom's Shadow[]

Having completed both riddles will raise all the pillars required to pass through the middle path, so do so to proceed with Angstrom's Shadow. The objective here is to use the panels to create a shadow of a skull on the wall. Use the wrench's tether to move the two sides of the skull each over the eye slits on the wall, which glow up blue when they are positioned properly. The mouthpiece can only be moved left and right, so position it in the middle.

Completing the puzzle will count as completing the mission but also trigger a trap by Darkwater, leading to the next mission "Fight like a Pirate!".
