Rykan V was a planet located in the Verdigris Sector of the Polaris Galaxy. This volcanic wasteland was home to the Rykan V Lava Refinery, which consisted of a number of lava tubes that reached deep below the planet's surface. The refined lava from this refinery was used to make metal for the most advanced weapons and armor in the Polaris Galaxy. Rykan V also had a spaceport near the lava refinery, presumably for outgoing metals from the refinery.

History

Lombax activity

During or before the Great War, the Lombaxes constructed a facility on Rykan V, which could only be opened by Lombaxes. The facility, hidden in one of the rock islands in sector four, was presumably a development center for the Dimensionator.

Ratchet and Clank fighting their way through the spaceport

The Lombax artifact that Ratchet, Clank, and their new allies, Talwyn, Cronk and Zephyr retrieved from planet Ardolis led the group to Rykan V in their search of the Lombax Secret. In his own search for the Lombax secret, Emperor Percival Tachyon sent troops to support Imperial Forces already stationed on Rykan V to prevent Ratchet, Clank, and their new friends from finding any Lombax secrets on Rykan V. However, the group of heroes broke through Tachyon's forces and reached the spaceport. Here, Ratchet and Clank separated from Talwyn, Cronk, and Zephyr. Ratchet purchased a modified Gyro-cycle from the Smuggler, and used it to reach the coordinates indicated by the Lombax artifact. Talwyn, Cronk, and Zephyr met up with Ratchet and Clank at the location indicated by the coordinates, and discovered a Lombax facility. Once inside, the group found a tape which revealed that the Lombax Secret that was used to vaporize the Cragmites was the Dimensionator. The tape pointed to a Lombax testing facility on planet Sargasso, and the team left Rykan V for Sargasso in search of the testing facility.

Time crisis

Rykan V experienced two ice ages during the events of the time crisis that affected the Polaris Galaxy, due to Nefarious' meddling with time. Time rifts caused lava to actually flow back into volcanoes. This event was particularly humorous because Rykan V was one of the hottest planets in the galaxy.

• The Smuggler said that Leviathans once inhabited Rykan V, but had been scared away by the Drophyds.
• Rykan V seems to be close to the Verdigris Black Hole, because, when Ratchet was flying through there, you could see Rykan V in the background.
• Ephemeris, the Creature Collector, had visited Rykan V to collect the Grivelnox that is seen in All 4 One.
• Rykan V's trees look really similar to Gaspar's ones, another volcanic planet.
• The Grivelnox was the apex predator on Rykan V.
