The Royal Starship is a private transport ship used by VIPs of the Nefarious Empire, namely Emperor Nefarious himself. They are one of the very few ships with clearance to freely travel to and from Corson V and not be destroyed by the planet's patrolling Seekerpedes. Nefarious Tower is the only place in all of Nefarious City they can be located.
Ratchet and Rivet both procure one of these ships during Rift Apart and use them to travel throughout the galaxy in their mission to save the dimensions.
Collecting Gold Bolts will unlock recolor skin packs for both Ratchet and Rivet's ships. Ship skins pack 1 is unlocked with 7 Gold Bolts and contains the Rebel and Galactic Ranger skins. Ship skins pack 2 is unlocked with 22 Gold Bolts and contains the Wasteland and Bubblegum skins.
History[]
Pre-Rift Apart[]
Before the events of Rift Apart began, the Resistance was able to acquire a number of these ships for their members to safely enter and leave Nefarious City in their missions to undermine the Empire. One of these ships was left on planet Sargasso with the Morts and was in need of repairs from them to function again. Rivet had earlier gone to Zurkie's and acquired the part needed by the Morts to finish fixing it from the Space Pirates. Later, she used another one of these ships to travel to Nefarious City and complete her objective of stealing the Emperor's infobot from his personal assistant's escort.
Rift Apart[]
Whilst escaping from the pursuing Nefarious Troopers and abducting Clank, Rivet's ship is called via it's autopilot and lands in the Nefarious Bazaar, where Rivet gets in and quickly escapes the planet. Ratchet witnesses this and implores Ms. Zurkon how he can get off the planet and follow them. She explains the extremely strict rules on traveling to and from other worlds and that only Royal Starships are allowed to leave, anything else is immediately shot down by a Seekerpede laser. She tells him to find a Resistance member known as the Phantom as he can help Ratchet find one. Phantom makes him a deal and agrees to help Ratchet get a ship if he helps him with hacking the Emperor's propaganda blimp at the Nefarious Day Spa.
With their deal complete, Phantom gives Ratchet a hacking program named Glitch and instructs him to use her on the access console in Nefarious Plaza, which will allow him to use the Emperor's private shuttle to get into Nefarious Tower and find a Royal Starship. After accidentally alerting Dr. Nefarious and the troopers in the tower, Ratchet runs to the nearby ship hanger and jumps into a Royal Starship. He is unable to activate it however, as it requires a password from the Emperor to activate. Luckily, Ratchet finds a reminder sticky note next to the controls and quickly speaks it aloud to activate the ship and escape the planet. The password being: "Why do I need a password? I'm the Emperor! How about I obilerate you instead?! Hahahahaha!".
Whilst flying her ship down to Outpost L51 on Sargasso, Rivet recieves a distress call from the Morts. Her ship is then clipped by a Seekerpede searching for the missing infobot and crash lands, forcing her to make her way to the Gelatonium Factory by other means. This ship is then left inoperable and abandoned for the rest of Rift Apart. At the factory, Rivet saves the Morts from the Goons-4-Less and Clank repairs a dimensional anomaly another group of Morts were trapped inside of. Rivet then reunites with a female Mort she is good friends with and gives her the part from the Space Pirates needed to finish the final repairs on the other Royal Starship at the factory's landing pad. Once Rivet searches Clanks memory banks at her hideout and rescues him from the Seekerpede, the two take off in the new ship to Zurkie's to acquire a part to fix Clank's broken communicator.
After arriving at Zurkie's in their new ship, Rivet obtains the needed part from Pierre Le Fer and repairs Clank's communicator, allowing him to contact Ratchet. While Ratchet is still traveling through space in his stolen starship towards Sargasso, he is interrupted by Clank's transmission and the three devise a plan to rebuild the Dimensionator and fix the damage done to the dimensions before a dimensional cataclysm can occur. When Rivet and Clank return to their ship, they witness a public broadcast on the ship's holographic viewscreen from the Emperor's office, in which Dr. Nefarious announces he is offering a large bounty for the dead or alive capture of Ratchet and Rivet. The two then take off in their ship and head to Blizar Prime to acquire the Phase Quartz needed to power the Dimensionator.
Ratchet and Rivet split up in their mission to build a new Dimensionator with Ratchet traveling to Savali to acquire the blueprints for creating the device. Here he meets Gary and his apprentice KT-7461, who renames herself to Kit. With the schematics, Ratchet and Kit then travel in their ship to Cordelion and after overcoming several hurdles, they are able to use an alternate dimension Kedaro Station's Rubion Forge to create the Dimensionator. The two then return to Zurkie's to meet back up with Rivet and Clank after they have completed their own respective mission.
When Rivet and Clank arrive at Blizar Prime in their ship, they find the planet destroyed but are able to use Blizon crystals to shift to another dimension where the planet is still intact. Here they are able to acquire the Phase Quartz, however in the chaos the crystal becomes shattered to pieces. Rivet recounts an individual the Morts told her about on Torren IV named the Fixer, who is said to be capable of fixing anything. The two then set off to find him and see if the Phase Quartz can be repaired. After arriving at Molonoth Gulch and battling through the invading Space Pirates, the two eventually make contact with the fixer and help quell his emotional crisis. As thanks for this, he repairs the Phase Quartz and Rivet and Clank set off to Zurkie's so the Dimensionator can finally be used again to fix the dimensions.
Once Ratchet, Kit, Rivet and Clank meet at Zurkie's, they are ambushed by Dr. Nefarious and his troopers. The Doctor takes the Dimensionator from them and fights Rivet and Kit in the Battleplex. After Dr. Nefarious is defeated, the real Emperor Nefarious makes his return and seizes the new Dimensionator for himself before accepting the Doctor's plea for an alliance. The Emperor and Doctor then disappear into a rift to Sargasso. The group then split up again, with Rivet and Kit heading to Sargasso to stop the Emperor's invasion and Ratchet and Clank heading to Ardolis to find Captain Quantum before the Emperor can track him down. On Sargasso, Rivet and Kit are able to successfully stop the Emperor's Battle Cruisers and thwart his attempt to destroy the planet. He traps the two in a pocket dimension but was unaware Rivet had the means to later escape with her Rift Tether. Rivet and Kit then leave in their ship to return to Zurkie's and plan their next move with Ratchet and Clank.
Whilst Rivet and Kit were on Sargasso, Ratchet and Clank arrived at Ardolis and rescued Pierre from his scheduled execution for destroying his own command ship on Torren IV. They save him from being fed to a kraken named Bubbles and he instructs them to head for Skull Mountain to complete the Pirate Trials to be granted an audience with the captain. A misunderstanding then occurs in which Quantum's robot disguise is exposed and the space pirates believe he had murdered their captain. Ratchet and Clank agree to help Quantum escape and in return after doing so, he gives them the helmet he uses to spy on the Emperor through the bugged Assistant. At this moment, Nefarious tracks Quantum down and the captain sacrifices himself to allow Ratchet and Clank to escape whilst he is pulled through a rift to Zordoom Prison. With the spy device in their possession, the two decide to head back to Zurkie's to regroup again with Rivet and Kit.
As the four were on their way back to Zurkie's, a public broadcast from the Emperor played in both Ratchet and Rivet's ships. He announces he has finally rid himself of the last of his enemies and has full control of the galaxy. Ratchet uses Quantum's helmet to continue listening in to the Emperor's talks after the broadcast is over. The Emperor feels unfulfilled now that he has nothng more to gain, but is reinvigorated again at the prospect of finding more dimensions to conquer. To do this with the Dimensionator, he first needs the Dimensional Map and sets off with his armies to acquire it from Savali. Upon hearing this, Ratchet and Rivet both change their ship's courses from Zurkie's and head to Savali aswell.
Ratchet and Clank arrive at Savali too late and find the Emperor's forces have destroyed the Archives. They check inside and find the Dimensional Map is missing. Rivet and Kit fly over the Urfdah Mesa in their ship and approach the Emperor's Flagship to get it back. After reaching the upper decks however, they find Gary being held prisoner and he explains that the Map was hidden inside a dimensional anomaly to keep it out of the Emperor's hands. While Ratchet and Clank head to the planet's Catacombs to find it, Rivet and Kit help Gary escape and get him to safety in their ship. After landing their ship on the planet, the two make their way after Ratchet and Clank to help.
Once Clank successfully retrieves the Map from the anomaly, Emperor Nefarious and Dr. Nefarious ambush him and Ratchet, steal the Map and send the two through a rift to Zordoom Prison. Rivet and Kit arrive too late and Kit reluctantly transforms into her warbot form, revealing to Rivet that she is the same robot that caused the Lombax to lose her arm. Dr. Nefarious quickly saves the Emperor from Kit and sends her to Zordoom aswell before the two escape through another rift. Rivet; feeling deeply shellshocked and despondent over what had just happened retuns to her ship on the surface and takes off to planet Viceron.
Rivet lowkey flies into the outskirts of Zordoom Prison and lands her ship in the Boneyard. After rescuing Clank and many Resistance members, she chases Ratchet and Kit's VIP cell throughout the prison until they are eventually prepared for emergency evacuation. She saves them from being airlifted and Phantom flies in piloting Rivet's ship to pick them all up and escape. The ship is shown here to have the ability to expand it's cockpit back to accommodate two extra passenger seats. Rivet and Kit have a heated argument and dissolve their partnership with Kit refusing to continue and return to her home on Savali. Ratchet, Clank, Rivet and Phantom then leave the planet and head back to Zurkie's.
The four arrive at Zurkie's, where Ratchet has an argument with Rivet about what happened with Kit. The two eventually apologize to each other however and go to meet the other prison escapees in the Gastropub. Ratchet's ship left on Savali is also recovered for him to use again. The Emperor soon makes a public broadcast announcement that he is preparing to invade and conquer every dimension in existence starting with Ratchet and Clank's. His armies then enter a large rift to begin with Megalopolis.
Ratchet, Rivet and their allies then follow the Emperor's forces through the rift to repel his invasion. Ratchet and Clank travel in their own ship and land just before the city's Midtown Mall where the two Nefariouses are. Rivet travels to Megalopolis in her own ship aswell with the newly allied space pirates before continuing flying through the city on Trudi. This is the last point that the Royal Starships are used during the events of Rift Apart and the final battle against Emperor Nefarious takes place.

Trivia[]
Although the Royal Starship is a personal shuttle craft for the use of Emperor Nefarious, the Emperor himself is noticably too big to fit inside the vehicle.
When Ratchet and Clank were sent to Zordoom Prison by the Emperor, their ship was left on Savali and they later travel back to Zurkie's from Viceron as passengers in Rivet's ship. After this, Ratchet reacquires his ship again but it is not shown how he got it back. A possible explanation is that after Rivet and Kit helped Gary get to safety and Rivet left the planet to rescue her imprisoned friends, he took Ratchet's ship and traveled to Zurkie's with it. Gary's abilities of foresight would likely lead him to know the escaped prisoners would meet here and Ratchet would need the use of his ship again. This would also explain how Gary himself got to Zurkie's, where he is found in the Gastropub after the jailbreak awaiting everyone.
