Robot zombies[1] are enemies fought in Deadlocked. As their name implies, they are undead robots fought in the sacred robot burial ground in the Catacrom Graveyard on Catacrom Four. They are bipedal, humanoid robots that can appear from the ground and can survive without their legs, or heads.

History

The zombies appear to be corpses of soldiers from the battle that took place on Catacrom Four. During the DreadZone battlecourse, they raise from the soil below to attack contestants. Ratchet fought them on Catacrom Four during almost all of the Catacrom Four challenges that he participated in. He later fought them in the DreadZone Station during the challenge "Zombie Attack", and on Torval during its challenges.

Characteristics

The robot zombies have humanoid bodies that are almost twice as tall as Ratchet. They have bronze armor, sharp claws for hands, green highlights on their eyes and chest, and some have shoulder pads. Where they differ more greatly is in their heads and facial features. While some of them have narrow heads and cyclops eyes, others have thicker heads with horns, two eyes, and bulkier jawlines. Some of the zombies lack heads entirely.

In their movement, robot zombies appear by crawling out of the ground. After this, they normally begin their movement above ground with a slow limp or crawl. When closer to a target, they will move towards them in a slow run, not stopping under any circumstances, before attacking with a swipe of their claws.

Combat

Robot zombies are durable enemies with strong armor and powerful melee attacks (especially on Hero difficulty). Though their movement is slow, if they are capable of surrounding Ratchet, attacking him from behind, or appearing very close to him, they can be dangerous opponents as their melee attacks can severely damage Ratchet's nanotech. As such, it is best to eliminate them with area-of-effect weapons before they can surround Ratchet.

The B6-Obliterator or Magma Cannon are powerful early on, and the Scorpion Flail and Hunter Mine Launcher are also extremely effective later on. The Napalm mod is also very useful against them, as their slow speed means that it can deal damage to them before they reach Ratchet; later on, the Freeze mod can be a great way for longer-range weapons like the Dual Vipers to slow them before they reach Ratchet, and the Brainwash mod is effective at disrupting them.
