The Ricochet is a weapon in Rift Apart. It fires a long-range seeking projectile that can be bounced off of many nearby enemies numerous times before an individual projectile is finished. As such, the weapon is useful at targeting single targets from a distance.

The weapon can be purchased early on from Mrs. Zurkon on Outpost L51, Corson V for 6,500 bolts. At level 5, it upgrades to the Wreckochet. In challenge mode, the Omega Wreckochet can be purchased for 85,000 bolts.

Gameplay[]

Using R2 sends out an initial projectile on an enemy. Repeatedly pressing R2 will cause it to hit nearby enemies. If the player aims their camera at a different enemy, the Ricochet projectile will instead bounce to the other enemy. Because it hits a single target at once, the weapon is used as a ranged weapon to target enemies from a great distance, particularly enemies that are also ranged. The main shortcoming of the weapon is its low ammo, meaning it should be targeted well and used sparingly.

The raritanium upgrades to the weapon improve its basic functionality, but do not drastically change its role. In particular, the max ammo upgrade addresses its biggest shortcoming, while the two bonus Extra Hits upgrades make it more ammo-efficient.

Once fully upgraded with XP, it becomes the Wreckochet, which is more powerful and also causes the Wreckochet's projectile to explode once it runs out of bounces or if there are no other enemies remaining. The weapon is very niche in its use against single targets and bosses, and becomes outclassed by the Warmonger and Headhunter later on. However, when acquired, it and the Negatron Collider are still the best choices against such threats, making it a compelling choice.

The Ricochet is required for the bronze trophy "No Need for Multiball", wherein the player must kill two enemies with one Ricochet hit. This is best accomplished when used against small enemies such as horned toads.
