Ratchet & Clank Wiki

Repair the Wind Turbines is a mission in Quest for Booty, taking place on Hoolefar Island on Merdegraw. Ratchet and Talwyn were requested by Mayor Barnabus Worley to repair the local wind turbines, so as to fix the supply beacon and re-establish a radio signal to contact Rusty Pete.

Walkthrough[]

Along the rest of the beach, though the hoolefoids have little going on, the Smuggler can be interacted with. At this time, he offers nothing new and will demand Ratchet stop talking to him on second conversation.

Head up the stairs towards Wind Turbine Alpha and talk to the Wind Turbine Operator. After the conversation the first wind turbine can be completed. Head around the structure and use the wrench to grab one of the lava rocks, which you can use to break the nearby gate, accessing a dead-end path to several (explosive) crates.

Wind Turbine Alpha[]

Climb the wind turbine next to the Wind Turbine Operator. This is a fairly simple platforming affair. Dodge the gaps and jets of steam accordingly, with the second half encompassing a ledge traversal challenge. At the top, you only need to turn the bolt crank, which simultaneously activates a teleporter that takes you back down. This will show a cutscene opening three gates, granting you full access to the island. Ignore the underwater gate as it leads nowhere for now.

The goal for the remainder of the mission is to fix all four of the other turbines on the island and break as many crates as you can find to procure bolts for later.

The listed turbine order will be clockwise, although the island is interlinked enough, allowing you to approach in any variation.

Wind Turbine Epsilon[]

Return to the main path and use the now-open gate on the left and keep left to reach an open area with several anthropods. Use another lava rock to break the gate up ahead, then Swingshot across the gap and break another gate. This will lead to a grind rail section, during which you must switch rails several times, jump over obstacles, use the Swingshot to cross gaps, and most notably twice use a looping side track to grab a lava rock to throw at a gate blocking your path.

At the end is a catapult that will launch you straight to the top of the tower. After repairing it, use the nearby grind rail to return to land, and end up straight at the base of Wind Turbine Delta. Ignore the nearby catapult, as it just returns you to the area prior to the grind rail start.

Wind Turbine Delta[]

Use the spring pad, timed properly to avoid the blue fire, to reach a ledge from which you can shimmy around the corner. Drop down, avoiding another source of fire, then use your OmniWrench Millennium 12's kinetic tether to rotate the platform, allowing you to cross the gap. From here, you only need to rotate another platform, perform a wall jump sequence, followed by more manual platform adjustments and timed jumps to dodge jets of flames. As before, you will be sent to the ground after fixing the turbine.

Wind Turbine Beta[]

Proceed east across the rotating platforms to reach the Hoolefar supply beacon, where you can talk to the Beacon Operator (who is unable to help with the beacon until the wind turbines are all restored). The path to the right will lead back to Major Worley, so continue onwards and climb the large wall behind the supply beacon's energy conductor. Use the wrench to extend the bridge and break the gate, followed by moving the three floating platforms into position, allowing you to go back and forth to retrieve another lava rock to smash the second gate to reach Wind Turbine Beta.

This turbine is covered in a long and winding grav-ramp, with numerous steam jets to hinder your advance. Early on, you will have ample time to cross each series of jets, although the longer sections require careful timing to cross safely, especially on hard mode.

Wind Turbine Gamma[]

Once finished with the Beta turbine, you can use the nearby grav-ramp half-cylinder with the rotating blades to reach Wind Turbine Gamma. Eliminate the few anthropods that will attack you here before climbing the tower, which features another grav-ramp path. Use the tether to lower the platform and ascend upwards, jumping over and dodging the sawblades. Careful timing is only truly required at the very end before you can reach the top and complete the mission, allowing you to continue onto the next one: "Find the Beacon".
