To collect the "Take Aim" skill point you have to shoot down one of the blarg bomber or blarg minifighters that fly through the skies above Tobruk Crater. The latter is especially fast, making the bombers an easier target in comparison. Their flight patterns are not random, and thus it is relatively easy to sit and wait once you have spotted an easy target. The Devastator is the recommended weapon, as it has a slight homing effect when aimed properly, and its missiles are faster than the bomber aircraft themselves.

Swing it!
To collect the "Swing it!" skill point you have to go through the last room in the "Use your Swingshot" mission path without touching the platforms. This room starts with a pair of double versa-targets, followed by two singles and then two doubles again. The set of doubles are easy, as you can hang from them forever, however, the single targets require a quick reaction to not land on the floor. The moment when you use the Swingshot and reel into the lone target, start trying to reposition yourself to face the next versa-target. Once the current has been reeled in and the Swingshot has let go, immediately fire it again at the next target in line, hooking up instantly.

To collect the "Strike a Pose" skill point you have to stand between the legs of the robot statue on top of Al's RoboShack. It is impossible to boost jump onto the roof, instead go and take the rear exit and follow the path until you have taken two elevators. You will now stand on top of a skyscraper, which has a staircase leading to the train station. Turn left and stand on the edge of the building, the RoboShack visible below. To collect the "Girl Trouble" skill point you have to defeat the Alien Queen, and its minions, using only the 8000. This skill point is failed instantly if a weapon is used to harm an enemy, though can be repeated as the Alien Queen respawns when you return to the Blarg Tactical Research Station. The Queen itself requires careful dodging for she is fast to strike, it is recommended to learn her timing properly, to then side flip her attack and follow it up with a hyper-strike. Additional nanotech can be helpful to endure her attacks, as well as that of the many alien swarmers and pair of alien snappers that aid her in the fight. Nevertheless, carefully dodging attacks and following up with a counter-strike is the only way to complete this skill point.

There is a sand mouse inside a small cave, hidden behind a cage in the room with the Gadgetron vendor. Using the Sonic Summoner, you can summon it and use it to damage the Alien Queen without voiding the 'no weapon rule', as the Sonic Summoner is a gadget, and the sand mouse is its own entity. It is recommended to clear any hostile aliens prior to the fight, as the sand mouse will not have enough ammunition to kill the Queen, let alone if it is forced to fight other enemies.

To collect the "Speedy" skill point you have to finish the hoverboard race within less than 1:35 seconds on the NSTC version, and 1:36 seconds in the PAL version. The key to acquiring this skill point is to maintain constant maximum speed, both through boost pads and earning boost by performing tricks, and cutting corners. There are numerous bends and turns in which a fast racer can use airtime and high speed to cut through part of the track. Beware of crashing however, as it is almost certain to cause you to fail the skill point.

Note that you do not actually have to hit them, as detonating the Visibomb (hit the fire button while flying) can take down a saucer if it is close enough.

To collect the "Going Commando" skill point you have to kill ten blarg elite commandos by only using the OmniWrench 8000. The elite guard is a powerful enemy that has a permanent jetpack, making it impossible to kill any that do not float above solid ground, and an accurate weapon with long range. Their sole flaw is that they will not act for a short time after firing three times in a row, but note that they are often accompanied by other guards and enemies. The recommended attack is the Hyper-Strike, for you only need two of these to down a single guard and it can be executed quickly from close range while dodging their fire. Dodging aside, the Decoy Glove is an effective and easy way to hold their attention. Lastly, it is not necessary to kill all ten guards in one life, as dying or leaving the planet and returning allows you to repeatedly kill the easiest guards without issue.

Skill points make their debut in Ratchet & Clank. There is a total set of thirty skill points to be completed in every location, excluding planets Umbris and Quartu. Skill points are used to unlock secrets in the Goodies menu. Completing fifteen skill points will unlock the Sketchbook, and completing all thirty will unlock the Epilogue.

Collecting fifteen and thirty skill points in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the silver trophy Unlock Sketchbook and gold trophy Skillful, respectively.

Novalis

Take Aim

To collect the "Take Aim" skill point, you have to shoot down one of the blarg bomber or blarg minifighters that fly above Tobruk Crater.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Take Aim.

Aridia

Swing it!

To collect the "Swing it!" skill point, you have to use your Swingshot on the last set of versa-targets, without touching any platforms, to reach the last room of the path of the "Use your Swingshot" mission. This room starts with a pair of double versa-targets, followed by two singles and then two doubles again. The set of doubles are easy, as you can hang from them forever. The single targets, however, require a quick reaction to not land on the floor. The moment you use the Swingshot and reel into the lone target, try to reposition yourself to face the next versa-target. Once the current has been reeled in and the Swingshot has released, immediately fire it again at the next target in line, hooking up instantly.

Transported

To collect the "Transported" skill point, you have to destroy three of the ships flying above Outpost X11. This is similar to the "Take Aim" skill point, except you can also use the Blaster, though the Devastator is just as viable. Either fire at any ship passing by or aim carefully to take them down.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Transported.

Kerwan

Strike a Pose

To collect the "Strike a Pose" skill point, you have to stand between the legs of the robot statue on top of Al's RoboShack. It is impossible to boost jump onto the roof. Head through the rear exit of the RoboShack as normal and follow the path until you have taken two elevators. You will now stand on top of a skyscraper, which has a staircase leading to the train station. Turn left and stand on the edge of the building, with the RoboShack visible below. A single stretch jump, coupled with a gliding descent, will land you safely on top.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Strike a Pose.

Blimpy

Blimp from R&C (2002) render

A blimp.

To collect the "Blimpy" skill point, you have to shoot down one of the blimps flying above Metropolis. Although the Devastator can destroy the blimps, it often lacks the necessary range to reach them, therefore the Visibomb Gun is recommended instead.

Qwarktastic

To collect the "Qwarktastic" skill point, you have to destroy the Qwark bot at the start of the fitness course in Metropolis. This has to be done with either the Devastator, Visibomb Gun, or R.Y.N.O..

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Qwarktastic.

Eudora

Any Ten

To collect the "Any Ten" skill point, you must destroy ten of the ships flying around the logging site. It has a similar task to the "Take Aim" and "Transported" skill points, except this time, you must shoot down ten ships. They are quite common, relatively slow, and fly close to the ground level, making them easy targets.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Any Ten.

Blarg Tactical Research Station

Girl Trouble

To collect the "Girl Trouble" skill point, you have to defeat the Alien Queen and its minions using only the OmniWrench 8000. This skill point is failed instantly if a weapon is used to harm an enemy, though it can be repeated as the Alien Queen respawns when you return to the Blarg Tactical Research Station. The Queen itself requires careful dodging, for she is fast to strike, and with that, you should properly determine her timing, that way you can then side flip her attack and follow it up with a hyper-strike.

Additional nanotech can be helpful to endure her attacks, as well as that of the many alien swarmers and pair of alien snappers that accompany her.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the silver trophy Girl Trouble.

Rilgar

Tricky

To collect the "Tricky" skill point, you have to perform a Twisty McMarx at either of the hoverboard races (meaning Kalebo III instead of Rilgar is also possible). A Twisty McMarx involves gaining airtime, preferably by taking either of the two highest ramps while boosting, followed by performing four tricks in a row. Once airborne, hold the R1, R2, L1, and L2 buttons (each only once and consecutively) and move the Left analog stick sideways to spin. A set of four full rotations will execute the trick and earn you the skill point. The PS Vita equivalent for the standard shoulder buttons are: Shoulder R, Touchpad top-right, Shoulder L, and Touchpad top-left.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the silver trophy Tricky.

Cluck, Cluck

To collect the "Cluck, Cluck" skill point, you have to transform an extermitank into a chicken using the Morph-o-Ray. The Morph-o-Ray requires time to turn such a large enemy into a chicken and also requires Ratchet to either wear the O2 Mask or crouch beneath the barrel to avoid the toxic gas.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Cluck, Cluck.

Speedy

To collect the "Speedy" skill point, you have to finish the hoverboard race within less than 1:35 seconds on the NSTC version and 1:36 seconds in the PAL version. The key to acquiring this skill point is to maintain constant maximum speed, both through boost pads and earning boost by performing tricks, as well as cutting corners. There are numerous bends and turns in which a fast racer can use airtime and high speed to cut through part of the track. Beware of crashing, however, as it is almost certain to cause you to fail the skill point.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the gold trophy Speedy.

Batalia

Jumper

To collect the "Jumper" skill point, you have to traverse the grind rail without taking damage. The main threat to this is the large number of mines placed on the rails. The majority of them can be destroyed safely with the OmniWrench, but the remainder has to be avoided manually. Do note that none of the mines respawn as long as Ratchet does not die, meaning it is possible to remove mines by intentionally taking damage, and as long as your nanotech does not run out, you can retry it as many times as needed.

Accuracy Counts

To collect the "Accuracy Counts" skill point, you have to shoot down a blarg minifighter using the turret. It is the same turret used during the mission "Destroy the bombers", but the skill point can be obtained at any time. Similar to earlier skill points, pick a target and wait for it to pass by its route, then shoot it down.

Eat Lead

To collect the "Eat Lead" skill point, you have to let a sand mouse destroy all four Cannonball tanks. Sand mice are summoned by using the Sonic Summoner, which has to be equipped while standing near one of their houses. The only sand mouse house on Fort Krontos is located behind the large building on the right near the landing pad. Although quite powerful, they will only be active for a limited time, thus it is recommended to clear the level preemptively of any other enemies, while ignoring the tanks. Then, once cleared, return to the start, summon the sand mouse to follow you and let it destroy all tanks on its own, while you just dodge their attacks.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the silver trophy Eat Lead.

Gaspar

Destroyed

To collect the "Destroyed" skill point, you have to destroy all ten docked blarg destroyers in the Blarg Depot. Each destroyer is hooked up to a refueling station by a cable, destroying the station causes a chain reaction that takes down the entire destroyer. A large number of these had to be destroyed for a gold bolt, collected at the end of the route.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Destroyed.

Gunner

To collect the "Gunner" skill point, you have to shoot down five ships using a turret. Similar to other skill points, simply aim and shoot in front of the target ships, as your bullets are relatively slow. Learning their flight paths and continuously firing through their intended route is the easiest way to obtain this skill point.

Orxon

Sniper

To collect the "Sniper" skill point, you have to shoot a screamer through a specific pipe. Said pipe is located near the end of the path you take for the mission "Explore as Ratchet". At some point, you must traverse across a series of metal platforms, eventually reaching a plateau with two toxic crabs. There will be a large rock formation on your right; behind it is a large group of sleeping crabs and two screamers. A metal pipe is embedded within said rock formation. Equip the Blaster and aim through the pipe to shoot the screamer and earn the skill point.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Sniper.

Hey, Over Here!

To collect the "Hey, Over Here!" skill point, you have to lure a toxic crab into a forcefield. Make sure to have the Taunter in your possession, and follow the path for the mission "Catch the Infobot". After the Magne-Strip has been traversed, you will reach a forcefield, with several crabs asleep behind it. Stand in front of it, equip the Taunter and begin blaring it. This will then draw the crabs into the forcefield, killing them.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Hey, Over Here!.

Pokitaru

Alien Invasion

To collect the "Alien Invasion" skill point, you have to destroy three blarg saucers using the Visibomb Gun. The saucers dominate the skies above Jowai Resort, but despite their numbers, they are also quite fast and agile. The Visibomb Gun steers rather poorly and thus can likely not hold up in a chase, however, due to their numbers, there is a fair chance of simply running into one head-on if you can predict their flight path. Note that you do not actually have to hit them, as detonating the Visibomb (hit the fire button while flying) can take down a saucer if it is close enough.

Buried Treasure

To collect the "Buried Treasure" skill point, you have to destroy all underwater explosive crates. The O2 Mask and Hydro-Pack are recommended as they make it easier and faster to scour the area. There is a number of explosive crates located on the seafloor throughout the inner area of Jowai Resort. Touch them to start their detonation sequence, which subsequently removes any crate within their immediate vicinity.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Buried Treasure.

Hoven

Pest Control

To collect the "Pest Control" skill point, you have to exterminate a large group of anklebiters in a specific area. Said area is in an apparent dead end, hidden behind a copse of trees near the landing pad. The anklebiters will appear out of the snow in an attempt to kill you, but despite their numbers, they are a minimal threat. The Pyrocitor or Suck Cannon are suggested weapons to quell their numbers.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Pest Control.

Whirlybirds

To collect the "Whirlybirds" skill point, you have to shoot down five Blarg heli-commanders. It is easier to shoot these down from a higher position, such as the platform where the turret is. The Devastator is recommended for this task. From this position, you will have a fair line of sight when shooting down these vehicles.

Gemlik Base

Sitting Ducks

Cargo ship render

A cargo ship

To collect the "Sitting Ducks" skill point, you have to destroy all cargo ships on the Gemlik Base. These cargo ships are box-shaped aircraft with black paint and orange accents. The Visibomb Gun is required to destroy all eight of these ships, with seven located outside and the last one inside the base. When standing on the landing pad tower, three ships are visible on building to the left, a single one sits on a platform straight forwards, and another lone ship is parked on a building to the right. A pair is located slightly out of sight, on top of another structure deeper on the right side of the base. The final cargo ship is located within the last room of the base, a circular hangar in which you have to fight a large number of enemies (mainly Robosquawkers and blarg space commandos). The ship is parked upside-down on the ceiling.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Sitting Ducks.

Oltanis

Shattered Glass

To collect the "Shattered Glass" skill point you have to destroy all streetlights in the Gorda City Ruins. The streetlights are easily sighted by their bright blue light and can be destroyed with any ranged weapon, note that they must be destroyed in one go, as your demise causes them to all to return. There are eight located on the landing pad platform, four more on the larger central one below. The nearby taxi will take you a platform with a pair of streetlights, and another pair stands several platforms over deeper within this route (amidst a large group of Scoutbots). Another pair of streetlights is located on the second platform within the Swingshot path for a gold bolt (said path is only unlocked once all missions have been completed), and the final four are located on the final platform, together with the gold bolt.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the silver trophy Shattered Glass.

Blast 'Em!

Unnamed blarg fighter render

A blarg bomber

To collect the "Blast 'Em!" skill point you have to destroy three blarg bombers. The bombers are few in number, but rather slow and easy to hit with either the Devastator or Visibomb Gun. Wait around on any of the taller platforms until one passes by and shoot it down.

Kalebo III

Heavy Traffic

To collect the "Heavy Traffic" skill point you have to complete the grind rail section without taking damage. Identical to the "Jumper" skill point on planet Batalia, the mines can be destroyed but the trains have to be dodged entirely.

Magician

To collect the "Magician" skill point you have to get a score of at least 4,500 points in the Gadgetron site's hoverboard race. Points are scored through performing tricks, with harder moves awarding significantly more points. Note that points awarded will decline per each subsequent identical trick performed, making variety an important factor. It is recommended to actively avoid shortcuts and boosting, except when in need for airtime on a ramp, to get as much time as possible to perform stunts.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Magician.

Drek's fleet

Sneaky

To collect the "Sneaky" skill point you have to destroy all enemies on the main path, from the landing bay to the bridge of Drek's flagship. It should be noted that the Sentry-bots do not respawn once the mission has been completed, as only they and not the Robomutts, can activate the alarm. Regardless, if they are still present, the Hologuise is useful to avoid being accidentally seen. If the alarm is activated it is recommended to retreat and wait it out behind a closed door.

Careful Cruise

To collect the "Careful Cruise" skill point you have to complete the path for the "Swim through the water tanker" mission without taking damage. There is a timer for swimming through this tunnel, which is guarded by many electric fans and mobile robots similar to Spiderbots that fire lasers. The time granted is somewhat lenient, making it recommended to at times withhold from using the Hydro-Pack and ensure you make it through safely.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Careful Cruise.

Veldin

Going Commando

To collect the "Going Commando" skill point, you have to kill ten blarg elite commandos using only the OmniWrench 8000. The elite guard is a powerful enemy that has an accurate weapon with long range, and a permanent jetpack, making it impossible to kill any that do not float above solid ground. Their sole flaw is that they will not act for a short time after firing three times in a row, but note that they are often accompanied by other guards and enemies. The recommended attack is the Hyper-Strike, for you only need two of these to defeat a single guard, and it can be executed quickly from close range while dodging their fire. Dodging aside, the Decoy Glove is an effective and easy way to hold their attention. Lastly, it is not necessary to kill all ten guards in one life, as dying or leaving the planet and returning allows you to repeatedly kill the easiest guards without issue.

Collecting this skill point in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Ratchet & Clank will unlock the bronze trophy Going Commando.
