Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is a 2021 animated, Canadian short film based on the Ratchet & Clank series. It was written and developed by John Derevlany, directed by Mike Alcock and Craig George, and was produced by Mainframe Studios (formerly known as Rainmaker Entertainment) and PlayStation Originals, the same companies who were previously responsible for the 2016 film.[1] Life of Pie is not considered canon to the video game narrative.[2]

The short presumably takes place in the Solana Galaxy, as Marcadia is listed on the directional pole Ratchet flies past at the beginning.

Synopsis[]

"While on an inter-galactic pizza run, Ratchet and Clank discover that the diabolical Dr. Nefarious has developed an interdimensional portal device that would allow him to rule the entire multiverse! The intrepid duo spring into action, liberating the "Portalizer" from Dr. Nefarious and then racing off to securely lock it away in a weapons museum. But along the way, they run into bumbling Captain Qwark, who uses the weapon to accidentally unleash a sentient-pizza-topping mob upon the citizens of Galactic City. It's up to Ratchet and Clank to battle the savory horde and keep the Portalizer out of Dr. Nefarious' evil hands before he uses it to destroy the galaxy!".[1]

Plot[]

While on an intergalactic pizza quest, Ratchet and Clank ran into an anomaly, a giant tentacle emerging from a portal, they learn this is due to the latest plot of the evil Dr. Nefarious: to utilize his latest invention - the Portalizer - to bolster his Nefarious ranks with underlings from other dimensions. Ratchet and Clank quickly snatched the Portalizer, and fled so that they could take it to the authorities. Arriving in Galactic City, the duo ran into Captain Qwark, who Clank had accompany them to get on Ratchet's nerves. Realizing the potential of the weapon, Qwark utilized the weapons from the Weapons Hall, such as the Taunter and the Chimp-o-Matic, on Ratchet and Clank in order to take the Portalizer for himself. Qwark then used the Portalizer to go to the Pizzaverse in hopes of becoming the spokesperson of the natives, only to accidentally unleash a mob of live and sentient pizza toppings upon the citizens of Galactic City. With the Chimp-o-Matic finally having worn off, Ratchet and Clank then arrived on the scene to clean up the mess Qwark made. Things grew more dire however when Nefarious arrived and stole the Portalizer back from the distracted duo, forcing Ratchet and Clank to return to the evil doctor's space station, to both stop him and re-acquire the Portalizer. Nefarious managed to have Ratchet captured, blaming the young lombax for always ruining his plans. But Clank snuck up behind them and used the Portalizer to open up the rift to the Calamari Quadrant, with the giant tentacle emerging once more to attack Nefarious' warbot troops, giving Ratchet and Clank a chance to once again escape with the Portalizer. As the chaos in his space station settled, Nefarious stressed and froze, playing the drama show of Lance & Janice, as his warbots line up to slap their boss. Ratchet and Clank then return to Galactic City, finding Qwark had taken credit for saving everyone from the problem he created, much to Ratchet's chagrin. Ratchet and Clank then had the Portalizer contained, and then went off to continue their intergalactic quest for pizza - with Ratchet finally accepting to use all 10 of Clank's tokens to acquire a pizza.
