The RYNO V is a weapon manufactured by Gadgetron in A Crack in Time. It is the fifth iteration of the R.Y.N.O. series and can be obtained by collecting all holo-plans. The RYNO V is the most powerful weapon in the game, capable of rapidly firing bullets and missiles. While firing, it plays the "1812 Overture", a classical piece by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The RYNO V can be upgraded to the Mega RYNO V through use. In challenge mode, the Omega RYNO V can be purchased for 1,000,000 bolts.
History[]
The RYNO V was known as the most powerful weapon in the universe. However, it was illegal to the extent that authorities in the Polaris Galaxy would imprison people in Zordoom Prison for even looking at it.[1] When Ratchet first delivered a plan to the Smuggler, the Smuggler was shocked that such a weapon even existed, unaware that any model would be made after the fourth.[2]
Characteristics[]
The RYNO V is a large weapon with two barrels that fire bullets and a central barrel that fires a larger missile. While firing, it plays the "1812 Overture" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, looping every five seconds. The weapon sprays hails of bullets from its barrels, and in tune with the "1812 Overture," it launches a missile (similar to the Negotiator) from the center barrel while the outer barrels spray bullets in a fashion similar to two overlapping miniguns.
Gameplay[]
The RYNO V is assembled by finding all holo-plans, which are hidden in various locations, and presenting them to the Smuggler in the mission "Find the Complete RYNO V Holo-plan." After this, it can be picked up from him in person at the Axiom City spaceport.
The RYNO V has 1,500 rounds of ammo at V1 (up to 3,000 at VX), though it consumes ammo at an incredible rate due to its rapid fire. Ammo conservation is not a significant concern, however, as ammo crates typically contain enough to quickly replenish the RYNO's capacity. The weapon's primary drawback is its high bullet spread, which often causes it to miss even medium-sized enemies. Despite this, its rapid fire and the power of its individual rounds make it capable of easily destroying most enemies on screen. It is most effective against large groups and the biggest and strongest targets, including bosses, which can be defeated in seconds at point-blank range.
Behind the scenes[]
Several different designs were explored for the shape of the RYNO V.[3] The RYNO V was referred to as the "Gatling Gun" on CreatureBox concept art.
The R.Y.N.O.m that appears in Before the Nexus is identical in appearance to the RYNO V.
The weapon also appears in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
