The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.
The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.

The RYNO (an abbreviation for Rip You a New One) is a weapon created by Dr. Nefarious in the re-imagined Ratchet & Clank (2016 game) and the re-imagined movie.

The RYNO could be upgraded into the RYNO Xtreme! with use. This iteration utilized Fluginium-infused slugs and missile volleys alongside its missile volleys, and was said to have a damage output of infinity by the woman who designed it.[1]

This iteration of the RYNO takes elements from previous RYNO weapons throughout the Ratchet & Clank series. It takes the appearance of the RYNO IV from Tools of Destruction, but the functionality of the RYNO V from A Crack in Time, firing missiles at a rapid rate, though quickly consuming its ammo.

History[]

In the Ratchet & Clank film and Captain Qwark's retelling of its events, the RYNO was created by Dr. Nefarious, who also held its trademark, while its upgrade was designed by an unidentified woman.

In Qwark's retelling of events, Ratchet obtained the weapon from the Slim Cognito in Blackwater City on Rilgar after giving him all the RYNO Holocards, at which point Ratchet was granted the weapon for free. The weapon upgraded to the RYNO Xtreme! with use, and could be upgraded with Raritanium, particularly to improve its ammo capacity.

In challenge mode, the Omega RYNO Xtreme!!! may be purchased from a vendor for 1,000,000 bolts. When meeting Slim on playthroughs with the weapon equipped, he will instead identify Ratchet and Clank as possessing the RYNO, and request a picture with them, to which the confused Ratchet will oblige.

In the Ratchet & Clank movie, Nefarious tried to use the weapon to kill Captain Qwark in the Deplanetizer's Star Cracker Chamber after the former's plan to destroy the galaxy was thwarted. Ratchet wacked it with his OmniWrench before he could fire it, resulting in Nefarious being hit in the face by his own weapon, causing him to be disintegrated as he fell through the chamber. The mid-credits scene showed that he somehow survived this, but he was rebuilt as a robot in the aftermath.

Characteristics[]

The RYNO has the appearance of the RYNO IV in Tools of Destruction. It is a small green and dark green carbine, featuring a jaw below its orange nozzle from which missiles are fired at a rapid pace, spouting off in many directions in front of the weapon, with some homing in on enemies. It also plays triumphant horn music while firing, similar to the RYNO V in A Crack in Time.

Combat[]

The R.Y.N.O. has a very large maximum ammo capacity and fires its missiles rapidly. Once acquired, it is easily the most powerful weapon in the game, though the player must aim it correctly to conserve ammo, as it consumes its ammo very quickly

Once upgraded with Raritanium expanding its ammo capacity, and once fully upgraded to the RYNO Xtreme!, its main shortcoming (ammo capacity) is entirely alleviated. This means there is little reason to use another weapon, as the RYNO can handle any threat in the game, quickly defeating all bosses and enemies once fully upgraded.
