The Polaris Defense Force are the armed forces of the Polaris government. They are deployed to counteract major threats to cities and planets in the Polaris Galaxy. They act as the Polaris Galaxy's counterpart to the Galactic Rangers in Solana.
History[]
A Crack in Time[]
During A Crack in Time, damage to the Great Clock caused by Dr. Nefarious led to multiple time anomalies spreading across the universe. The Polaris Defense Force were incapacitated and left in disarray when many of their military installations across several planets became frozen in temporal rifts. As a result, they were unable to assist during the crisis, and violent outbursts occurred on Igliak, Sargasso, and Cobalia.[1] After Ratchet and Alister Azimuth saved Axiom City from a rampaging VX-99 hoverdrone, some citizens expressed their outrage at the Polaris Defense Force's failure to defend the galaxy.[2]
With the time crisis eventually resolved, and the status of Dr. Nefarious left unknown following his defeat and the destruction of his space station, the Polaris defense initiative was mobilized.[3] The force, investigating the missing Dr. Nefarious, found that Lawrence had teleported him to safety before the destruction of his space station.[4]
Comic series[]
The Polaris Defense Force assisted Talwyn Apogee, Ratchet, Clank, Sasha Phyronix, Cronk, Zephyr, Captain Qwark, and the Galactic Rangers behind the scenes in stopping Artemis Zogg and the Helios Project. Sasha notified them after finding Ratchet on Veldin.[5]
All 4 One[]
The entire Polaris Defense Force was attending the Single N' Hating It Speed Dating Convention in Meridian City, leaving the city of Luminopolis on planet Igliak an easy target for a rampaging Light Eating Z'Grute set free by Dr. Nefarious to kill Galactic President Qwark.[6]
After events of the game, Lawrence informed Dr. Nefarious that the Polaris Defense Force had set up a perimeter outside the Vartan Nebula, requiring them to take the Corvus exit.[7]
Full Frontal Assault[]
Stuart Zurgo said if he sniffed any Polaris Defense Trooper he would deactivate every Planetary Defense Center in the galaxy.
Into the Nexus[]
Sometime before the events of Into the Nexus, Talwyn officially joined the Polaris Defense Force, and attained the rank of captain. Ratchet and Clank worked closely with their friends in the Defense Force and assisted them in the transfer of Vendra Prog from the Nebulox Seven Prison Ship to the Vartax Detention Facility. Vendra's brother Neftin Prog and their hired Thugs-4-Less however intercepted the Nebulox, freed Vendra and destroyed the ship, killing Cronk and Zephyr in the process.
Characteristics[]
Polaris Defense Troopers were the primary units of the Defense Force, with a Polaris Defense Captain acting as their commander. A substantial portion of the force are single and seeking partners.
Polaris Defense Troops don a standard issue armor when on duty aboard the Nebulox prison ship.
