The Omni-Key 5000,[1] referred to often as simply the Omni-Key in-game, is an item in Secret Agent Clank. It is a key that uses hard-light holographic technology to map out and then spontaneously decrpyt electronic locks, including those composed of quantum bits, superstring remnants, and parallel universe technology.[1] Clank received one from the Agency during "Number Woo works for...?", and can be used to activate doors, elevators and launch pads in a similar fashion to other hacker gadgets.
Gameplay[]
The actual hacking minigame involves the use of the key to remove all colored tiles present in the lock's cylinders. The key will periodically spawn a tile of its own, which will move to one of the key's own cylinders and slowly drop down from there. Moving the key from left to right allows the player to line up the key and lock's cylinders, at which point the tile will land on those below, and vanish both if they are the same color. A tile can also be dropped outside the lock entirely, which results in it being deposited somewhere randomly.
The colors range from orange, yellow, green, and purple, whereas the number of cylinders varies depending on the lock. Rarely the key will also drop a pair of tiles stuck together, which can be flipped, but otherwise act the same as singular tiles. Very rarely the key will spawn a tile consisting of a swirl of four colors, which will remove all tiles of the color it comes into contact with. If a stack of tiles reaches the top of a cylinder the hacking attempt will fail, forcing you to restart.
