The Nitro Launcher was an explosive launcher weapon, first found on Veldin. It was best used against a large group of enemies, or vehicles, because of the damage it did to all surrounding foes. It was a bomb that exploded upon impact. At V5, the Nitro Launcher became the Nitro Eruptor. Ratchet was handed this over by the Galactic Rangers, to help destroy a large vehicle on the Kyzil Plateau of Veldin.

Nitro Eruptor

The Nitro Eruptor was the powerful upgrade of the Nitro Launcher. It launches a bomb, which had an extremely wide blast radius, and shot out little energy shots in the explosion. However, it was rare for these shots to hit anything, as these shots seem to emanate from random directions.

Mega Nitro Eruptor

In Challenge Mode, the Nitro Eruptor upgraded to the Mega Nitro Eruptor for 380,000 bolts (342,000 bolts with Gadgetron discount). It had 4200 power, with medium range and could hold 12 bombs. The ammo costed 50 bolts each. At the point of gaining 7500 experience points, it upgraded to the Giga Nitro Eruptor and at 125000 experience points it upgraded to the Omega Nitro Eruptor.

Trivia

When the Nitro Launcher/Eruptor grenade explodes, the nearby space seems to move to the center of the explosion, suggesting that the weapon does not use nitroglycerin, but an exotic energy.
