The Negatron Collider is a weapon in Rift Apart. It charges up and fires a long-range continuous energy beam. Its strength comes from both its range and the power of the beam it fires.
The weapon can be purchased early on from Mrs. Zurkon in Nefarious City, Corson V for 5,000 bolts after completing the mission "Find Clank". At level 5, it upgrades to the Large Negatron Collider. In challenge mode, the Omega Large Negatron Collider can be purchased for 60,000 bolts.
Characteristics[]
Gameplay[]
Pulling fully will fire the Negatron Collider's energy beam, which has a long range. While the beam is active, it can be moved by aiming to hit different enemies along its path. The Negatron Collider is best used against single medium or large enemies, as well as ranged or flying enemies that require a long ranged weapon to combat them. Though its low starting ammo proves limiting and makes aiming the beam important, its range and damage proves invaluable for a significant portion of the game.
Most raritanium upgrades for the Negatron Collider make it a more versatile weapon. Max ammo upgrades are important to address its biggest shortcoming, along with improving its explosion radius: combined, this makes it more useful against groups of enemies in addition to single targets. Of the bonus upgrades, the Beam Destroys Shots upgrade is extremely beneficial, allowing it to destroy enemy projectiles mid-air; this makes it easier to aim at ranged enemies, so Ratchet or Rivet do not have to interrupt the beam when dodging attacks as they can destroy them.
Once fully upgraded with XP, it becomes the Large Negatron Collider, which is more powerful and also creates a massive explosion once the Negatron Collider's blast expires to cause more damage across the surrounding area. The weapon mostly remains useful in its niche against bosses, ranged enemies, and flying enemies, and its damage mostly remains useful throughout the game. However, other options for ranged become available, in the form of the Ricochet, the Warmonger, and the Headhunter.
