The Nefarious Sniperbot is an aerial unit of the Nefarious Troopers in Rift Apart. They are troopers mounted on devastating, fusion-drive cannons. The cannon takes a few moments to charge up, so if you find yourself being tracked by their advanced sensor beam, you must get clear of it immediately. Later into the events of Rift Apart, they are upgraded with more armor and a stronger weapon.

History[]

The Sniperbots are first fought on planet Savali as part of Dr. Nefarious' strike team, that are sent to intercept Ratchet's arrival and hold the local monks hostage.

During Emperor Nefarious' invasion of Sargasso, several Sniperbots will hover in the skies around the Nefarious Battle Cruisers, defending them from Rivet's attempts to stop them destroying the planet. They can be destroyed by Trudi's fireball attack.

At Zordoom Prison, Sniperbots guard both the outside perimeter and the large interiors. When Emperor Nefarious invades Ratchet and Clank's dimension with his armies, he invades Megalopolis. Here Ratchet needs to destroy four Sniperbots so the allied Goons-4-Less can advance. When the Emperor's Imperial Power Suit is destroyed and he loses his composure, he begins opening rifts to bring in all of his armies to make Rivet submit to him, to which many Nefarious Troopers, including several Sniperbots gather and target Rivet with their weapons.

At Zurkie's Battleplex, they and many other long ranged attacking troopers are fought in the Gold Cup challenge "A Good Time to Zoom", by Rivet using a Headhunter.

Combat[]

The Sniperbot is a flying unit of the Nefarious Army, that fires huge laser cannons directly at you. You can avoid this by staying out of the way of the sensor beam entirely by using cover, or time it right by jumping out of the way, or using the Phantom Dash right as the laser is about to fire. Using audio and visual cues, you can time this; the sensor beam will become more concentrated when it is just about to fire and it's sound effect will change, in this short window you can Phantom Dash or jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

A great way to take care of the Sniperbot is ironically by using a sniper of your own. Using the Headhunter, you can hit the trooper's head mounted on the top in its orange dome, and shoot it for critical damage, as long as you can shoot it before it shoots you. Sniperbots tend to be the most out of reach of the Nefarious Troopers, so long range weapons are typically the only ones you'll find use from when fighting them. They are not as heavily armored as Peacekeepers, meaning more weapons can be used to take them down quickly, like Buzz Blades and the Ricochet. Since the Sniperbot is a flying enemy, Drillhounds will not work too well on them, since they of course tend to miss them when coming out of the ground.
