Template:GOEnemybox Mutant Fireflies, sometimes referred to as Swamp Flies,[1] were a cross between a firefly and a beetle that have a faint gold glow. They are the only enemies on planet Oozla that do not live in the slimey water, but fly around a small area, usually in groups. These insects are often preyed upon by the flesh-eating Fly Trap plants found throughout planet Oozla. These pests will attack by flying up to Ratchet and pinching him with their pincers. They are easily killed by one strike from a Wrench. Also, if in large groups, Ratchet could slaughter all of them with the Gravity Bomb, or Mini-Nuke, with one shot. The Lancer would also take care of them easily. They could mostly only be considered a threat if they attacked in large groups, they are however very slow. They also look very similar to the desert dwelling Mutant Sandflies of Tabora , however the Mutant Sandflies don't give off a glow, are far times faster than Mutant Fireflies, and often attack in swarms of 10 or more.

Trivia

  • The term Mutant Swamp Fly was used to refer to Mutant Fireflies, as seen in a game of Galactic Chess, but this may be because some people may be unaware of their true name. They are still the same creature, just different names they are called by.
  • The Mutant Fireflies are chess piece in Galactic Chess , as seen in Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal .
  • Clank stated while playing Galactic Chess that the Blargian Snagglebeast is allergic to these flies. The Blargian Snagglebeast is effected by the allergic reaction for two turns in the Galactic Chess game, as stated by IRIS in Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
