The Mutant Crab[1] is a minor character in Going Commando. He is a two-headed Smolgian snapper from planet Smolg, who unlike the rest of his kind, did not grow a second head, and was sentient and intelligent, to his regret.[2] He speaks with an upper-class English accent, and smoked a pipe, wearing a red sweater and a white scarf. He was also depressed, knowing that his species was meant to kill others, and expressed his dismay at his lack of feral ignorance.

Ratchet and Clank encountered him during "Explore the docked ships". Mistaking him for one of the other snappers, Ratchet raised his OmniWrench upon seeing him, and to his surprise, the Mutant Crab spoke, imploring Ratchet to kill him. Ratchet and Clank realized he meant them no harm, and Clank told the Mutant Crab he could relate, as he too was a defect from the sentry-bot series designed only to kill. The Mutant Crab then offered them a telescreen containing a newscast from Damosel, in exchange for 40,000 bolts for food. The two made the exchange, and to their surprise, the Mutant Crab ate the bolts rather than purchasing food, and then left.
The Mutant Crab later attended the movie premiere of the Secret Agent Clank film.
