Buzzsaw Blitz[]

The Buzzsaw Blitz is the first Destruction Derby challenge, in which Clank pilots a Saw Torso against three opponents, two of which use Ram Torsos, and one using an Electro Torso. In each of the four corners are freezing vents, and in the center is a buzzsaw surrounded by several barricades. Beating the challenge is required for the mission "Survive Robot War III".

The Saw Torso mainly relies on its spin ability to hit opponents from any side (including Ram Torsos about to hit you), and cause any hit enemy to momentarily spin out of control. Spins can be used to hit enemies into the freezing vents, but this can be difficult to accomplish. Due to the Ram Torso's speed and the Electro Torso's range and power it is best to rely on grabbing nanotech and power-ups, simultaneously denying the opponents the same.

CHARGE![]

CHARGE! is the second Destruction Derby challenge, fought using a Ram Torso. Clank battles three opponents, one in another Ram Torso, one in a Saw Torso, and one in an Electro Torso. The freezing vents are still present, though in the center are few barricades, but two domes, which Clank will bounce off of upon hitting them.

The Ram Torso can travel around at great speed, damaging enemies upon hitting them. It also has a very strong boost ability with which it gains a large speed boost, hitting one or multiple enemies to great effect. It can also be used as an escape ability, or to push enemies into hazards with some difficulty.

Electric Boogaloo[]

Electric Boogaloo is the third Destruction Derby challenge, fought in an Electro Torso. Clank battles three opponents, one in a Saw Torso, one in a Ram Torso, and one in another Electro Torso. There are several saw hazards around the arena, a few domes which Clank will bounce off of, and two spinners that will knock vehicles off-course.

With the Electro Torso, the best strategy is different from previous vehicles: instead, maintain a safe distance from opponents, while being close enough to zap them. As the Electro Torso charges up, its range and power increases, meaning it functions best by avoiding engagements and only attacking when fully charged.

Showdown![]

Showdown! is the fourth Destruction Derby challenge, fought in a Ram Torso against the Smasherbot boss. The only hazards are the freeze vents and the spinners. The spinners are more threatening in this challenge because the Ram Torso relies on charging into opponents in a straight direction, which the spinners can interrupt.

The Smasherbot is a slow moving boss with powerful melee attack, in the form of slamming its hammers down in front of it or to either side. Though the Ram Torso also uses melee attacks, there is a brief moment after it hits where it rebounds off an opponent, providing ample opportunity to reverse away from the Smasherbot after landing a hit. It can either be hit head-on, or hitting it at the corner to cause the Ram Torso to bounce off to a safe distance after. The speed boost likely also causes you to hit and subsequently overshoot the boss entirely. Make use of the power-ups when they become available, and the challenge should not be too difficult.

Smasherbot's Revenge[]

Smasherbot's Revenge is the final Destruction Derby challenge, fought in a Saw Torso against the Smasherbot. In addition to the Smasherbot are normal opponents, one with a Saw Torso, one with a Ram Torso, and one with an Electro Torso. These opponents will occasionally target the Smasherbot, though they are still a threat to Clank. Though hazards are sparse, each type of hazard (domes, spinners, and saw blades) is present in the arena.

It is best to finish off the smaller opponents first, allowing Clank to focus on the Smasherbot, who will largely ignore the others in favor of you. It is possible to pin one of them between yourself and the Smasherbot, which will cause it to try and attack you, futilely, and instead quickly smash the other opponent into pieces. Regardless, due to the Saw Torso being relatively weak, try to rely on grabbing the nanotech and power-up crates to force a war of attrition where you slowly whittle down the other Torso's.

Once this is done, against the Smasherbot, the same tactics do not apply with the Saw Torso, as it has much less of a rebound upon hitting the Smasherbot, meaning its retaliation will definitely land if the Saw Torso attacks it head-on. Instead, aim to hit its corners again, and make frequent use of the power-ups against it to defeat it.

Little League[]

Little League is the first Gadgebot Toss challenge, and requires five goals to win. There is a single goalpost, a single opponent, and two spawning areas, one with a bomb and one with a gadgebot. With this challenge, prioritize hitting the opponent to stop them using the gadgebot and scoring a goal, and then use the gadgebot to score in their place.

Interacting with the goal would sometimes result in a bug where Clank would be thrown around the field at high speeds until he was manually moved inwards towards the field center.

Varsity Bracket[]

Varsity Bracket is the second Gadgebot Toss challenge, requiring six goals to win. There is once again a single opponent, but this time there are two bombs, and in order to hit the goalpost, Clank must throw the gadgebot at its green side rather than its red side, forcing him to run around the back of the goal to the opposite side from where the gadgebot was located. Beyond this, the strategy is the same as before. It is not possible to run underneath the goalpost, meaning Clank will always need to run around it. It can be easier to simply wait in front of the goal, hit the other player when he comes around while carrying a gadgebot, and then steal it from him.

Collegiate Division[]

Collegiate Division is the third Gadgebot Toss challenge, requiring eight goals to win. There are two opponents and three bombs, but a single goalpost, and aside from two barricades, an otherwise fairly open stadium. The key challenge here is avoiding the bombs and punches from the opponents. Avoid running into them, and spend as little time aiming the gadgebot into the goalpost as possible, making sure a clean shot is scored but not giving the opponents enough time to punch Clank. It may be best to punch opponents even when they are not carrying a gadgebot simply to stun them for a few seconds.

Professional Level[]

Professional Level is the fourth Gadgebot Toss challenge, requiring nine goals to win. The challenge features three opponents, two bombs, domes, spinners, and a barricade just in front of the goalpost. Once again, avoiding the opponents is crucial, though a key way to bypass them is to toss the gadgebot into the goal from behind the barricade rather than running around it, as opponents will not do this.

The Uber Finals[]

The Uber Finals is the final Gadgebot Toss challenge, requiring ten goals to win. The challenge features three opponents, two gadgebots, two goalposts, two bombs, several spinners, and a few barricades. Because the challenge has more gadgebots, there is likely already a gadgebot on the field that can be grabbed by attacking an opponent with a bomb or punch, to then throw it in the goalpost. Doing so will greatly save time compared to running all the way back to the spawn point to pick up a gadgebot, allowing Clank to easily outpace opponents. Once again, it is not required to run around the barricade to score a goal, and throwing the gadgebot from just behind it can be equally effective.

Take Two For the Team[]

Take Two For the Team is the first Gadgebot Survival challenge. Three out of five gadgebots must be sent to the house at the end to win. The challenge is fairly simple: at the end of the first two tracks, detonate the furthest gadgebot along to allow the rest to drop below, opening a path to the final track and allowing three to win. The gadgebot should be detonated as soon as it reaches a stop so that the detonation does not harm nearby gadgebots. Gadgebots should also be detonated only at the end, to prevent a risk of them falling below to where no track is present.

Bridge the Gap[]

Bridge the Gap is the second Gadgebot Survival challenge, requiring five of the nine gadgebots to be sent to the house. Only two will need to be consumed in this instance. For the first two gadgebots, set the Bridge command, causing them to bridge the gap at the start. This will cause the remaining to travel along the path until they reach a teleporter. Select the Electrify command to all remaining gadgebots until five reach the house to win.

Of Trapeze and Teleporters[]

Of Trapeze and Teleporters is the third Gadgebot Survival challenge, requiring four of eight gadgebots to be sent to the house. Only one will need to be consumed, and the path is simple: set the Swing command to all gadgebots to cause them to swing across the first gap, then once the first gadgebot reaches the barricade at the end, set it to Detonate, creating a path for the rest to reach the teleporter. Set Electrify to all gadgebots after this, and the challenge is won once four reach the house. The key difficulty here is keeping track of all gadgebots and knowing when to set them to Swing or Electrify. If tabs are kept on them, the challenge will be a success.

Brain Trip[]

Brain Trip is the fourth Gadgebot Survival challenge, requiring three of five gadgebots to be sent to the house. One will need to be consumed. Set all gadgebots that first arrive to Swing, and then just before a gadgebot reaches the arrows near the end that cause them to change direction, set it to Detonate. This will cause the following gadgebots to drop down to the lower track before their direction is changed and they are prevented from reaching the house, making the path for the rest safe.

Nigh Impossible[]

Nigh Impossible is the final Gadgebot Survival challenge, requiring four of the nine gadgebots to be sent to the house. One will need to be consumed, and once again, it is crucial to keep tabs on the gadgebots to ensure they are given commands at the correct times. For all gadgebots, set them to Swing first, and then Electrify to pass the teleporter. For the first gadgebot after they pass the teleporter and drop down, once they reach a block after the arrows, set them to Detonate. This creates a path for all following gadgebots to drop down below and be directed straight to the house, successfully beating the challenge.

Notes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 The Smasherbot's name is spelled "Smasher Bot" in the "Showdown!" challenge, but later spelled "Smasherbot" in the challenge "Smasherbot's Revenge" and "Smasherbot's Return".
