Master the Hoverboots is a mission in A Crack in Time, taking place in Volgram Pass on Torren IV. Ratchet caught up with Alister Azimuth, who realized Ratchet was Kaden's son after ambushing him. Relieved to discover he was not the only lombax left, Azimuth gave Ratchet Kaden's old hoverboots and sought to train him so they could fight back together against Dr. Nefarious and reach the Great Clock.

Completing the mission will unlock the bronze trophy The General's Pupil.

Walkthrough[]

Alister Azimuth teaches you how to use the hoverboots. Equip them by pressing Right on the D-pad, and use R2 to gain speed. You are agile and can jump while using the boots, but you cannot use any weapons. Talk to Azimuth after getting the hang of it for a quick test course, introducing accelerators, hover bolts, and kick pads. Use the spring pad at the end, coupled with gliding, to reach Azimuth's platform. Talk to him and continue if you want, or repeat the test course.

If you continue, he introduces his final exam: you have one minute to reach the end and collect all 23 flares. The timer starts immediately after his explanation, so quickly accelerate and use the ramp ahead, as well as the subsequent kick pads to reach the second tower. Use the next set of ramps and accelerators to move from tower to tower until you reach a hover bolt.

The camera automatically shifts ninety degrees, so launch yourself into the lowered spring pad to reach a conveyor belt. Follow the path to a grind rail and, ultimately, a catapult to return to the start. If you finish in time and collect all flares, a cutscene plays, after which you need to complete "Return to Aphelion". You will spot a Zoni flying nearby; follow it, noting that it flies off a different ramp when at the hover bolt.

Use the hover bolt yourself to return to the vullard junkyard area, and continue following the Zoni until it takes you back to your ship. Use it to return to the Vela Sector for the next mission, "Travel to Axiom City, Planet Terachnos". Before heading to Terachnos, explore the sector with your new hoverboots to find all of the Zoni and Constructo mods. If you do not have enough Zoni (at least six), you will not be able to land on Terachnos.
