Markazia is a location in Full Frontal Assault, previously mentioned in the Ratchet & Clank series. It is an arid planet located in the Polaris Galaxy, and the homeworld of the markazians.
The acid ruins on the planet are visited in Full Frontal Assault, and are the location of GrummelNet's Korgon Refinery. The refinery is the location of the Planetary Defense Center, which Ratchet, Clank, and Captain Qwark had to restore after Stuart Zurgo deactivated it, leading to an attack.
History[]
Before Full Frontal Assault[]
At some point in the past, an ancient race attempted to colonize the planet, but hostile conditions eventually caused it to be abandoned, leaving the acid ruins.[1]
At a later date, the Korgon Refinery was built by GrummelNet to collect and distill acid for use in their bioweapon division.[2]
During Ratchet and Clank's second visit to Mukow in Tools of Destruction, the drophyds redirected all Imperial Army traffic to the Markazian Station in sector 9.[3]
Full Frontal Assault[]
Markazia was the first target of Stuart Zurgo's revenge plot against Captain Qwark. Zurgo deactivated its Planetary Defense Center, leaving the planet vulnerable to attacks from the grungarian marauders. The current Q-Force, consisting of Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark, soon arrived, and managed to reactivate the defense center, driving the Grungarians away.[4]
The Plumber had been stranded near the Korgon Refinery all morning due to a loose fusion coil in his ship. The Q-Force picked up his distress call and Ratchet helped fix it, leading him to realize that the Plumber onboard the Starship Phoenix II was an imposter.[5]
Geography[]
Markazia is a highly arid world, which oozes lethal acid from natural pools. These acid pools had attracted GrummelNet Industries, who set up the Korgan Refinery to collect and distill the acid for use in their bioweapon division.
The Korgon Refinery is a GrummelNet factory located in Markazia. The purpose of the refinery was to allow GrummelNet to collect and distill acid for their bioweapon division.[2] The plant is located next to Markazia's Planetary Defense Center and is full of dangerous acid pools and savage anthropod swarms.
Amongst the planet's wildlife are the Markazian hummingbird, which is capable of flapping its wings one trillion times per second,[6] and the Markazian trout.[7] Like with many other planets, skreeducks are present.
Multiplayer[]
The central platform hosting node 1.
The competitive multiplayer map.
The competitive multiplayer map on Markazia features a relatively symmetrical design with three nodes on each side of a central battlefield. Traversal is facilitated by numerous hoverboots ramps and meteor pad that allow for quick movement across the map's many plateaus and ledges. The middle nodes (3 and 6) are more heavily defended, boasting an additional three grungarian brawlers. Each base also has an outer ledge facing the center of the map that holds three stacks of bolt crates.
Node 1 is situated in the map's center and can only be reached by using the versa-targets accessible from the middle nodes. Once captured, it provides an excellent vantage point over the battlefield and is reinforced by two grungarian demolitionists. A useful shortcut can also be found behind node 3, where a series of hoverboot ramps connects nodes 2 and 4 and hides several more bolt crates.
