The Korthos Sector is a sector of the Polaris Galaxy featured in A Crack in Time. It is one of five sectors of the Breegus System. The sector is home to planet Zanifar, one of the fongoid's many settled planets, and Lumos, a home of the vullards. The Agorian Battleplex was also located in the sector.
Ratchet and Alister Azimuth came to the sector in search of the Obsidian Eye located on Lumos.
History[]
Lumos was once home to the Breegus System's richest raritanium mine in Krell Canyon. Over time, it instead became known for the Huron Abyss tourist destination and for being the galaxy's most frequently-invaded territory,[1] as agorians had invaded Lumos 117 times prior to A Crack in Time.[2]
Dr. Nefarious's asteroid came to the Korthos Sector two years prior to A Crack in Time, and landed on Zanifar.[3]
Ratchet and Azimuth came to the Korthos Sector in search of the Obsidian Eye on Lumos. When Ratchet arrived in the Aphelion, valkyries ambushed him, although they soon left Libra to deal with Ratchet after prioritizing Azimuth due to his high bounty, having detected his ship nearby, 30,000 kilocubits north of Orrack Minor.[4][a] In "Defeat Libra to reach Lumos", Ratchet destroyed Libra's ship, causing the valkyries to fall back to Minor; Azimuth nonetheless survived.
While in the sector, Ratchet also visited the Agorian Battleplex, after Captain Qwark had found himself entered in the arena, and visited Zanifar at the request of Clank. During his visit to Zanifar, Azimuth was captured by Lord Vorselon, but in "Rescue General Azimuth", Ratchet boarded Vorselon's warship in the sector and freed him.
Additionally, in the sector, Ratchet helped a few locals. During "Escort Ortax the Merciless", he helped tow the agorian to the battleplex after an agorian named Serus the Cheat took his thrusters, hoping to win by forfeit.[7] In "Tow the Junk Hauler Home", Ratchet also helped tow a vullard junk dealer to the space depot when his battery bots went on strike,[8] and in "Find an Omnigasket", he found a vullard's missing omnigasket that had been left behind on a moon.
Curiously, while helping locals, Ratchet also helped resolve a dispute between two vullard businessmen on both sides. In "Destroy the Holo-boards", a businessman on a moon asked him to destroy holo-boards (holographic billboards) of a competitor placed around the sector to help his business.[9] Afterward, in "Hide the Holo-boards", the competing businessman on the depot, unaware Ratchet was responsible and believing the "no-good moon bum" was, hired Ratchet to hide his remaining holo-boards that his competitor was unaware of.[10] Later, in "Set up the Holo-boards", the businessman on the moon lamented that he had not seen an uptick in customers since Ratchet destroyed his rival's holo-boards, and hired Ratchet to place holo-boards of his own business.[11]

Explorable moons[]
A total of four Zoni and one gold bolt can be found across the seven moons within the Korthos Sector, as well as three constructo mods.
Korthos Alpha[]
Korthos Alpha is a desert moon with piles of junk, inhabited only by a few vullards, teratropes, and Breegus wasps. A lone Zoni can be found and captured. The vullard closest to the landing platform, in front of a small shop, can be talked to for the missions "Destroy the Holo-boards" and "Set up the Holo-boards".
Korthos Beta[]
Korthos Beta is a dark-gray moon with various small red and orange plants and grasses. It is inhabited by agorians and teratropes. Tall energy fences, powered by battery bots, are used to contain small squares. Most of these hold agorian warriors, as well as a few soldiers and a single phalanx. Each fence area contains a spring pad that can be used to reach the next area, with the one at the end leading to the long platform path looping around the planet, ultimately leading to a single Zoni.
There also is a lone structure on the other side of the moon's landing pad. It is guarded by agorian soldiers and a single phalanx. Inside the structure is an omnigasket, guarded by agorian warriors. The omnigasket can be returned to the vullard on the Korthos Depot to complete the mission "Find an Omnigasket".
Korthos Delta[]
Korthos Delta is an ice moon with a sea of cold liquid. It is inhabited only by Pyrospinners and a few agorian warriors and soldiers. It features a platforming challenge in the form of platforms that continuously phase in and out of reality. At first, these platforms form simple patterns, and later on, they become increasingly longer and more erratic in their placement.
The last few combinations are simply long paths with each platform vanishing in succession, forcing the use of the hoverboots to make it across in time. A single Zoni can be found at the end.
Korthos Gamma[]
Korthos Gamma is a lava moon with a handful of red-hot metal platforms, requiring the use of the OmniSoaker to be completed. Behind the landing pad is a platform with a water dispenser, which is required to cool down the platforms. The only enemies present are a few agorian warriors, and the only reward is a Zoni at the end.
Korthos Sigma[]
Korthos Sigma is a metal moon inhabited solely by agorian warriors and soldiers. All 25 have to be killed to be rewarded with the Shockwave Payload.
Korthos Tau[]
Korthos Tau is a metal moon inhabited solely by thrashers, including a new version of the melee variant with a built-in tractor beam. 25 thrashers have to be killed to be rewarded with the Choke Barrel.
Korthos Omega[]
Korthos Omega is a metal moon inhabited solely by agorian soldiers. All 25 of which have to be killed to be rewarded with the Double Barrel.
Space missions[]
Escort Ortax the Merciless[]
"Escort Ortax the Merciless" can be started by talking to the stalled Talon nearby Korthos Delta. Ortax needs to be towed with the Ship Tether to the Agorian Battleplex. While en route there, a fleet of agorian Talons will attempt to stop Ortax from being towed. Defeat twenty of the ships to force them to flee, after which the agorian can be safely delivered to the Battleplex.
Tow the Junk Hauler Home[]
"Tow the Junk Hauler Home" is available by hailing the junk hauler between Korthos Beta and Korthos Omega. The vullard pilot requests for his ship to be towed to the nearby Depot after his battery bots revolted. Simply tow the ship and drop it off at the Depot to complete the mission, as there are no sudden ambushes.
Find an Omnigasket[]
"Find an Omnigasket" is available from the vullard in front of the shop on the Korthos Depot. The item, an omnigasket, was left behind on one of the moons in the sector. The moon in question is Korthos Beta, and the omnigasket is in the single-story structure on the other side from the landing pad. It is guarded by a handful of agorians.
Destroy the Holo-boards[]
"Destroy the Holo-boards" is started by accepting the mission from a vullard on Korthos Alpha. The four holo-boards will be marked with small gray dots on the radar, and are easily destroyed with missiles or sustained direct fire.
Hide the Holo-boards[]
"Hide the Holo-boards" can be started after completing "Destroy the Holo-boards" and "Find an Omnigasket". Talk to the vullard on the Korthos Depot again, who requests for two of his remaining holo-boards to be towed back to the Depot. The boards, of which there are two, are marked on the radar and can safely be moved back to the Depot.
Set up the Holo-boards[]
"Set up the Holo-boards" is the final space mission in a small chain within the Korthos Sector. This time, three boards must be towed to different locations, all marked on the radar. Simply release each board at each drop-off point, causing a message from the vullard to be received, until all three boards are delivered to complete the mission.
Notes[]
Annotations[]
- ↑ Orrack Minor is mentioned only and cannot be visited in-game, but appears to either be in the Korthos Sector or close. Azimuth's ship was detected 30,000 kilocubits nearby,[4] and the valkyries retreated there after failing to defeat Ratchet.[5] Orrack Minor is also mentioned as a place Kaden and Azimuth visited, a location home to a vullard settlement and threatened by space pirates.[6]
