Grind the Rails to the Prison and Jailbreak are missions in Tools of Destruction, taking place in Zordoom Prison on Viceron. The Zoni told Clank that Talwyn was being kept captive in Zordoom Prison. Though Ratchet did not believe him, they resolved to travel there regardless, and Captain Qwark provided them schematics for the prison.

Walkthrough[]

Prior to engaging in the first mission, you have the option to take a detour by using the Heli-Pods gadget on a platform near your ship. This will lead you to another Heli-Pods challenge path that culminates in a gold bolt and a collection of raritanium chests. Additionally, this optional path hides another cache of raritanium halfway through, all of which is valuable for the increasingly expensive raritanium upgrades of your latest weapons.

Regardless of your choice, make sure to purchase the Negotiator from the weapons vendor for 200,000 bolts. You should be able to afford it with the leftover bolts from completing "Soul Searching" and "Fight for Cash Prizes", and it proves extremely useful in this mission.

Grind the Rails to the Prison[]

As you approach the end of the path, past the tesladrones, take note of the two camouflaged drophyd sentries. Apart from their camouflage ability, they possess no new capabilities, but they cannot be targeted by a Nano-Swarmers hive in their current state. Similar to previous sentries, it is advisable to use short-range weapons such as the Pyro Blaster and Shard Reaper. Utilize your Decryptor on the nearby port, which presents split paths. Disregard the second spark and focus on guiding the other to the red port.

The actual grind rail section is fairly straightforward, featuring several jumps, as well as swings using Swingshot versa-targets. Once you reach safe ground again, the mission will automatically conclude and transition into "Jailbreak".

Jailbreak[]

Disregard Qwark's instruction to avoid the spotlights, as the enforcer turret variant is not particularly dangerous. These stationary defenses rely on twin miniguns and thick armor, but they are easy targets for the Alpha Disruptor and Negotiator. Ascend the grav-ramp and activate the second enforcer, then destroy the two chests behind it before turning the bolt crank. The devices vendor in this area sells Visi-Copters, which are remote-controlled weapons that allow you to safely attack enemies from a distance, provided you are out of their range. However, using them comes at the cost of losing out on weapon experience.

Follow the linear path here, which includes another grav-ramp and two more enforcer turrets, until you reach safe ground again and can enter the Sector 2 cell block of Zordoom. Dispatch the sentries and trooper on the platform below you, then quickly loot the jackpot crates and stack of crates on your left before completing the second Decryptor minigame. This one is somewhat lengthy and presents multiple dead ends and solutions.

Cross the bridge to confront the two enforcers patrolling the central platform. They are not significantly different from the immobile turret variants. Proceed into the corridor ahead. This area is guarded by tesladrones, sentries, and troopers, and due to the narrow confines, it is an ideal location to utilize the Buzz Blades against them. Use the Decryptor on the port next to the platform to solve a puzzle involving multiple red ports. This will lead you to the upper walkway, where you can find another gold bolt and several chests. The other port, for the elevator shaft, is a simplified version of the platform port.

Descending the elevator shaft is similar to the skydive sections, but instead of dodging missiles, you must navigate through laser grids. At the bottom, Sector 11 cell block, a few sentries will attack you followed by a group of shielded sentries at the end of the corridor. Due to the narrow area, attacking them from behind is not possible, so resort to brute force with the Negotiator. A single attack from the Negotiator will easily damage the entire group, breaking all of their shields at once (or close enough), while a second rocket will finish them off.

Use the Decryptor to complete the mission and free Talwyn, after which you will automatically enter the next mission, "Escape from Zordoom".
