This is the walkthrough for the Hidden City of Balkai, Snow Storm level as featured in Full Frontal Assault. After Stuart Zurgo uses Qwark's credentials to disrupt the galactic weather grid, the Q-Force returns to Ebaro to reformat the Planetary Defense Center.

Walkthrough[]

This level is a remixed version of the Hidden City of Balkai, now covered in snow. The storm creates periodic ice tornadoes that block your view and will freeze you on contact. Your primary objective is no longer to capture key nodes, but to destroy ten weather beacons scattered across the map. The level is also home to three grungoths, durable beasts that rely on lunge attacks. They can simply be avoided with your hoverboots until you have enough weapons to defeat them.

You also gain access to the final set of defenses. The Cryo Turret (3,500 bolts) is a turret version of the Cryoshot. While expensive, placing a single one near your base can be invaluable for slowing down enemies that break through your lines. The Transmorpher Mine (1,500 bolts) turns groups of enemies into harmless bunnies but is ineffective against grungarian bombers and tanks. The Electro Barrier (2,000 bolts) damages enemies on contact but is similarly expensive and offers little protection against the most dangerous ranged threats.

All grungarian marauders on this map are elite versions, boasting more health, damage, and upgraded abilities. Elite grungarian soldiers fire homing bullets, while elite demolitionists can fire multiple grenades in quick succession.

Focus on destroying the ten beacons while fending off the occasional enemy wave. Once all beacons are down, return to your base to begin construction of a reformatting device. Activating it will trigger a major assault, similar to the standard reboot sequence.

This attack is longer and more intense than previous ones. Prepare for multiple bombers and two tanks that attack from opposite sides near the end. A reliable strategy is to stack your defenses—mostly Warmonger Turrets with one or two Cryo Turrets and Chrono-Mines—on one lane while you personally defend the other. Upgraded Thundersmack Thunderpods and Doppelbangers are excellent for supplemental, autonomous defense. Use the Groovitron Glove to neutralize high-priority targets like bombers and tanks.

After the assault, you must escort the reformatting device to the Center. Before you do, it is highly recommended that you sell all your defenses to amass at least 20,000 bolts for the final encounter. Activate the device with Triangle to start its slow journey. Clear out the grungarian blockades in its path, which include groups of grungoids, brawlers, soldiers, and their shield generators.

The temple path features to an ambush by grungoids and two demolitionists. Rush ahead to clear the grungoid turrets blocking the entrance to the main hall. A final tank guards the area; destroy it quickly before it can reach the escort device. With the tank down, destroy the last shield generator to clear the path. Your final objective is to defend the device while it works. Spend your saved-up bolts to build Warmonger Turrets on all available pads and place various mines. When ready, activate the device to begin a two-minute countdown.

Enemies will spawn quickly, in large numbers, and very close to your position. Ranged units are the biggest threat, as they can target the device immediately. Constantly deploy autonomous weapons like the Thundersmack, Doppelbanger, and Mr. Zurkon, and use the Groovitron to control the most dangerous waves. The wide blast radius of the Plasmabomb Launcher and Warmonger makes them ideal for crowd control here.

Back at the Phoenix II, you can proceed directly to the final mission: Zurgo's Lair of Doom. While you can replay earlier levels for more medals and upgrades, the final boss can be defeated with your current arsenal.
