Grungarian tanks,[1] often referred to as just tanks,[2] are formidable enemies in Full Frontal Assault. They are heavily-armored vehicles that, upon reaching an enemy base, transform into bipedal mechs armed with dual gatling guns to inflict immense damage on generators. They are controlled by grungarian demolitionists.

Characteristics[]

Grungarian tanks have two distinct forms. They are first deployed as a slow-moving treaded tank. Once they breach an enemy base, they transform into a giant mech with two legs and powerful gatling gun arms. They appear to be powered by a green substance, possibly gelatonium, held in a rear compartment. In both forms, their sole target is the enemy base's generators; they will ignore players and other units, though they will crush anything directly in their path.

Elite grungarian tanks are tougher variants with reddish-brown armor and an orange rear node.

Gameplay[]

Overview[]

Grungarian tanks are protected by heavy armor that shrugs off most weapon fire. They are devastating to a base's generators but are also very slow-moving. While they largely ignore players, standing in a tank's path is dangerous, as they will flatten any units, deployed weapons, and active barriers on their way to the base.

Tanks should be made a top priority due to the extreme damage they can deal. While base turrets will contribute damage, they are rarely enough to destroy a tank on their own. Tanks are vulnerable to the status effects of special mines like the Chrono-Mine and Groovitron Mine, both of which offer very effective crowd control.

To defeat them, players must use their most powerful weapons, likely emptying out their entire ammunition. The most effective weapon is the Pyro Blaster, which offers high damage combined with low ammo consumption. The Groovitron Glove is also extremely useful as the tank will be occupied with dancing for some time.

It is crucial to focus fire on the tank, but not to the point of neglecting other simultaneous threats to your base.

Campaign[]

Grungarian tanks appear in the GrummelNet Plasma Harvester level, at fixed intervals as the level progresses. Elite variants, which are even more durable, are deployed in the Hidden City of Balkai, Snow Storm. In the campaign, they are almost exclusively deployed as base-assault units. Players should focus their personal firepower on the tank while letting turrets defend against smaller threats to avoid losing generators.

Multiplayer[]

In multiplayer, tanks can be purchased during the Squad Phase for 5,000 bolts each. An upgrade to the even tougher elite tank can be purchased for a one-time cost of 7,500 bolts.

Deploying a tank is a high-risk, high-reward strategy. It can be effective at breaking through enemy defenses, or at the very least, distracting the entire enemy team, creating an opening for players to attack. However, their significant bolt cost means sacrificing investment in base defenses, nodes, or other units.

In multiplayer it is possible to face multiple elite tanks in a row if an opponent has amassed enough bolts. At this point using the Pyro Blaster is likely insufficient, and Hyperstrikes (with upgraded melee damage) and V2 Plasmabomb Launcher or Warmonger actually deals more damage faster. Another possibly strategy is to employ several Cryo Turrets (three or more) and opt to freeze and subsequently shatter a tank with the Cryoshot.
