The grungarian marauders[1][2] are an organization and the antagonists in Full Frontal Assault. They are a mercenary army[3] hired by Stuart Zurgo to attack planets across the Polaris Galaxy after he disabled their Planetary Defense Centers.
The Q-Force was re-formed to fight back against the grungarian invasion. During the Q-Force's second visit to the Hidden City of Balkai, the marauders began deploying elite grungarians, which are more powerful and heavily armored versions of their standard counterparts.
In gameplay, grungarian marauders serve as the main enemies in the campaign. In multiplayer, however, players can purchase grungarian squads to attack the opposing team's base.
History[]
The grungarian marauders were hired by Stuart Zurgo to invade the planets of Ebaro, Markazia, and Proteus VII after their Planetary Defense Centers were deactivated. Only the Q-Force were permitted to intervene, as Zurgo threatened to shut down every PDC if a Polaris Defense Force trooper was detected.[1]
After the Q-Force reactivated the three PDCs, Zurgo used a stolen access key to throw the galaxy's weather into chaos.[4] He then sent his grungarian forces back to Ebaro, first to defend the corrupted, snowstorm-generating PDC, and later to protect his personal lair.
Characteristics[]
The grungarian army is composed of various species of different ranks, supported by armored vehicles. Standard footsoldiers typically wear grey and brown armor. On the plasma harvester of Proteus VII, they wear bright yellow armor, which is functionally identical but likely adapted for the harsh environment. All humanoid units' armor and vehicles also have vented exhaust pipes on their rear.
During the final confrontation on Ebaro, elite grungarians appear in reinforced purple-blue armor. These stronger variants of brawlers, soldiers, and demolitionists are often equipped with spiked arm guards and bionic eyes.
Units[]
The Grungarians field a diverse array of units, from nimble infantry to heavily armored vehicles and machines.
Infantry[]
The smallest infantry unit is the grungoid, a swift, eight-legged swarmer distinguished by its large jaw and singular eye. Other infantry units are all bipeds; the brawlers, are purple with multiple yellow eyes and squid-like arms tipped with retractable spikes. They're often deployed as front-line shock troops, with elite versions boasting spiked arm guards. The soldiers are armed with rapid-fire machine guns. Standard soldiers depend on their helmets for survival, while elite soldiers feature bionic eyes and can operate without headgear.
Rounding out the infantry is the demolitionist, the most heavily armed foot soldier, who wields rocket launchers and engages targets from a distance. All grungarians, except for the grungoids, wear protective glass domes over their heads, suggesting a reliance on these devices to survive in oxygen-rich atmospheres.
Vehicles and machines[]
The grungarian military also incorporates a variety of robotic and vehicular forces. Dropships serve as the primary transport, deploying all grungarian forces onto the battlefield. Grungoid turrets are operated by grungoids and emerge from underground to engage approaching enemies. Aerial support comes in the form of the Missile Minion, a flying robotic gunship, and the larger, more durable grungarian bomber. Elite bombers are equipped with a protected cockpit.
For direct ground-based assaults, they utilize the wrecking drone, a suicide robot deployed on Proteus VII that charges targets before self-destructing. Lastly, the grungarian tank is a heavily armored vehicle that can transform into a giant mech upon reaching an enemy base. Finally,
Multiplayer[]
Grungarian squads are purchasable units in multiplayer during the Squad Phase. Depending on the player's team, these squads have either blue or red armor and skin color.
Neutral, green-colored versions of grungoid turrets, brawlers, soldiers, and demolitionists are also used to guard nodes, turning blue or red when a team liberates the node. A grey version of the grungarian bomber guards certain crates.

A PS Blog post promoting the game mentioned an "engineer grungarian" who sabotaged the Q-Force's defenses, though no enemy with this specific name appears in-game.[3]
