Grungarian demolitionists,[1][2] also known as launcher minions in concept art,[3] are enemies in Full Frontal Assault. They are heavily armored grungarian marauders who attack from a distance with grenade launchers. Demolitionists have blue and white skin with a single horn protruding from the top of their head. They are first encountered in the Hidden City of Balkai.
Gameplay[]
Overview[]
Demolitionists are muscular, bipedal aliens who wield a large, shoulder-mounted grenade launcher similar to the Plasmabomb Launcher. They typically attack in pairs, firing explosive rounds from long range, and usually from an elevated position. A red targeting reticle appears on the ground just before a grenade lands, giving players a brief moment to evade.
They pose a significant threat to a player's base, as they actively aim to destroy players' defenses, as well as deal heavy damage to generators. Because they are well-armored and faster than other base-destroying units like grungarian tanks or grungarian bombers, they should be treated as high-priority targets during a defensive wave.
Their elite variant is more durable and fires several grenades in a row with more range, making them much more dangerous as fire support on the battlefield.
Campaign[]
Grungarian demolitionists appear in the Hidden City of Balkai and GrummelNet Plasma Harvester levels. Elite demolitionists are fought exclusively in the Hidden City of Balkai, Snow Storm and Zurgo's Lair of Doom levels.
Multiplayer[]
In multiplayer, a pair of demolitionists can be purchased during the Squad Phase for 1,000 bolts. Their relatively low price, toughness, and capability to attack defenses from afar makes them a very solid choice for invading an enemy base, provided they are deployed in large numbers or supported by other units. The upgrade to the elite variant is also only 1,500 bolts.
They are also very rarely seen guarding captured nodes, such as node 1 on the Markazia map.
A cosmetic skin for the demolitionist is also available after collecting one gold bolt.
