Grungarian brawlers[1] are enemies in Full Frontal Assault. They are melee combatants that fight for the grungarian marauders.
Characteristics[]
Brawlers are a unique grungarian subtype, resembling purple, bipedal squids with a beak-like mouth and numerous yellow eyes. They attack using their long tentacle arms, which are tipped with retractable spikes. Although equipped with jetpacks, they only use them to enter the battlefield and do not fight in the air.
When idle, grungarian brawlers can be seen doing push-ups or sparring with each other for sport.
Elite grungarian brawlers wear red armor and have their tentacles replaced with metal boxing gloves. Their attacks are stronger and create small shockwaves upon impact.
Gameplay[]
Overview[]
Grungarian brawlers attack with a variety of tentacle moves, including smashing them together, slamming them on the ground, or performing a spinning attack. They serve as front-line foot soldiers for the marauders, either leading assaults on the player's base or patrolling key areas of the map. Most ranged weapons are effective against them, especially rapid-fire weapons like the Combuster or area-of-effect weapons like the Plasmabomb Launcher.
Elite brawlers can withstand roughly twice as much damage as their standard counterparts, and their shockwave attacks can be dangerous to players at close range.
Campaign[]
Grungarian brawlers first appear in the Korgon Refinery and feature in all subsequent levels except the final boss fight. Elite grungarian brawlers are exclusively fought in the Hidden City of Balkai, Snow Storm level.
Multiplayer[]
In multiplayer, brawlers appear as neutral defenders at most nodes, colored green until a team captures the node. They can also be purchased as an offensive squad for 800 bolts, making them a cheap and effective option for swarming the enemy base that can take more punishment than the grungoids. There is no elite brawler upgrade, but purchasing the wrecking drone replaces all brawlers with drones instead.
A cosmetic skin for the grungarian brawler can also be unlocked and equipped after collecting twelve gold bolts.
Behind the scenes[]
Concept art for the grungarian brawler shows a very similar design, albeit with a slightly lighter, pinker skin tone.[2][3]
