The Goon Dropship is the miniboss unit of the Goons-4-Less enemy faction in Rift Apart. These G-Series Dropships are equally capable of travelling through space as they are the drive-through at Galaxy Burger. There is room inside for multiple squads of Goons, several complements of Robomutts and cupholders for eight.
As the name implies, Dropships will fly in and drop off several other Goon units. Usually they will then fly away, but sometimes they will stay on the battlefield, forcing you to take them down before moving on. When dropping off Goon forces, the non-combatant Dropships can be destroyed if hit with enough heavy firepower before they can fly away.
History[]
Rift Apart[]
The Goon Dropship first appears in Megalopolis very early into Rift Apart. The Goons are hired by Dr. Nefarious to attack Ratchet and Clank during the Festival of Heroes and are deployed by the Dropships into the city. The Goons are the first enemies fought and a Dropship is the first miniboss fight of Rift Apart.
When mass dimensional chaos ensues after the Dimensionator is destroyed, the Goons continue to pursue their bounty through the tears in the dimensions into Rivet's universe. On the Sargasso of Rivet's dimension the Goons cross dimensions with their forces and attack Rivet as they are unable to differentiate their Lombax target from her and Ratchet. Their Dropships deploy Goons around Sargasso as Rivet attempts to liberate the Morts they have taken hostage to interrogate and find where their bounty targets are.
Later, on the intact dimension version of Blizar Prime, the Goons again cross dimensions in pursuit of Rivet in their Dropships and on hoverbikes. After Rivet reaches the mining site's main drill and activates it to obtain some Phase Quartz, she discovers the drill is what destroyed the Blizar Prime in her own dimension. During this the Goons and their Dropship, continue attacking her. In order to stop the drill before it shatters the planet, Rivet damages the Dropship enough to knock it into the drill and successfully dislodges it. This happens when the Dropship's health reaches 5%.
After Rivet freed all of the inmates from Zordoom Prison including the goons, they decided to forgo their contract and formed an alliance with the Lombax to fight their Nefarious Trooper captors. They later traveled to Megalopolis again in their dropships through a dimensional rift to fight off Emperor Nefarious' invasion with Rivet and her allies.
Combat[]
Being the miniboss unit of the Goons, the Dropship is a heavy vehicle with a high amount of health and strong firepower. Because of their high health, it is suggested using heavy weapons on them like the Warmonger and Negatron Collider. The only exception is the very first Dropship faced in Rift Apart, since it is part of the tutorial area and thus has so little health that even the Burst Pistol is viable against it. Since Dropships are a flying enemy type, the Drillhound a pretty poor choice, as it tends to miss it's target when springing out of the ground. It's method of attack is a horizontal sweeping gattling laser cannon. It's laser fire projectiles can be caught with the Void Repulser and fired back at it.

Trivia[]
The design for the Goon Dropship in Rift Apart is quite similar to the dropships used by the Extermibots in Going Commando. Considering the Extermibots and their equipment are all developed by Megacorp and the Thugs/Goons-4-Less often purchase hardware from Megacorp themselves, it is possible the goons' new dropships were developed or designed by them. The goons may have also simply appropriated the design for their own manufactured vehicles.
