The Flux Rifle is a weapon manufactured by Gadgetron in Up Your Arsenal and its multiplayer mode. It was designed and built by Cora Verolux while she was simultaneously doing her math homework and eating breakfast.[1] It is a long-range sniper rifle with a scope allowing it to zoom in on enemies from a distance.
The Flux Rifle is available upon reaching Aquatos from a Gadgetron vendor for 75,000 bolts. With use, it can be upgraded to the Splitter Rifle, and in challenge mode, it can be upgraded to the Mega Splitter Rifle for 340,000 bolts.
Characteristics[]
The Flux Rifle is a long, thin, dark green, and orange rifle with a small yellow scope, a small magazine, and a left-hand grip. The Splitter Rifle is an orange, yellow and black rifle with a slightly larger nozzle and magazine. Both rifles have a thin stabilizer mounted onto the barrel.
In multiplayer the Flux Rifle's model is in fact a lower quality version of the Vaporizer from Going Commando.
Gameplay[]
The Flux Rifle fires a single, powerful bullet that deals heavy damage at a long distance. It is most effective and stronger when aimed down its scope, allowing it to be precisely aimed, and also to defeat enemies at a distance from a vantage point. This can make it a very strategic weapon. However, when used without its scope, it is ineffective against all but large targets, as it can easily miss, and it is nigh-impossible to aim the weapon at enemies mid-combat without taking damage first or using the Holoshield Glove. This makes it a niche weapon.
When used strategically, it can be effective at destroying larger enemies from a distance before even engaging them in combat, reducing the threat before going in. At V4, its shots explode. At V5, it upgrades to the Splitter Rifle, which can be fired through enemies. These upgrades make it very effective when fired at clusters of enemies, although there is generally little use for the phase-through effect.
Behind the scenes[]
The Flux Rifle is a possible holocard in the 2016 reimagining of Ratchet & Clank.
