Extermibots are enemies in Ratchet & Clank, the 2016 re-imagined game, and in the Qwark vid-comic Arriba Amoeba! in Up Your Arsenal. They are robots on Rilgar sent by the Blackwater City Administration to deal with an amoeboid infestation. They carry a small gun that fires toxic gas. Though assigned to deal with amoeboids, they are incapable of differentiating between amoeboids and normal citizens.

History

Qwark vid-comic

According to the Qwark vid-comic issue 2 Arriba Amoeba!, Captain Qwark fought a group of extermibots while defending Blackwater City from amoeboids created by Dr. Nefarious. The extermibots were sent to deal with the amoeboid threat but also attacked Qwark.

Ratchet & Clank

Extermibots were sent by the Blackwater City Administration to deal with an amoeboid infestation during the Hovercon Intergalactic Hoverboard Competition. Ratchet and Clank fought several during "Win the hoverboard race", encountering them on his way to the race, as they were unable to differentiate between him and the amoeboids.

Re-imagined

The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.

The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.

In Qwark's retelling of events, extermibots were deployed by the Blackwater City Administration to stop the amoeboid infestation sent by the blarg, which had caused the hoverboard race to be put on hold. They were encountered by Ratchet during "Travel to the hoverboard event", identifying him as a rodent-type organism before attacking him. After Ratchet defeated the amoeboids, the event was put back on.

Characteristics

Extermibots are yellow and dark brown humanoid robots with green eyes, and faces appearing similar to gas masks. They carry a single gas-firing gun that is connected to a large backpack. Extermibots are often found in small rooms, or locked behind closed doors and cages. They will attack amoeboids, but will not distinguish between amoeboids and citizens. When finding a target, they will run to them in range of their gas gun and fire.

Combat

In the original Ratchet & Clank, extermibots run towards Ratchet and fire toxic green mist from their gun in close range in front of them. They do not pose a threat individually, but their numbers make them challenging if the player allows them to come close, and also give them an edge against the amoeboids. They are easily defeated with most medium-range weapons available at this point. In some cases, it is easy to allow them and the amoeboids to fight each other and defeat the remaining enemies. When the O2 Mask is obtained, equipping it will protect Ratchet from any damage by them.

In the 2016 re-imagined Ratchet & Clank, extermibots are a greater threat, as their gun fires a ranged attack, firing gas that explodes on contact. They are best defeated at this stage with either the Combuster or Fusion Grenade, though most weapons are effective enough. When found alongside amoeboids, it is best to allow them and the amoeboids to fight each other (and in fact, allowing extermibots to kill 35 amoeboids will earn the trophy "Not My Job") and clean up the remaining enemies.

In the Qwark vid-comic Arriba Amoeba!, the extermibots fire gas that will travel horizontally in the direction fired. This can be easily dodged by jumping over it. They can be defeated in three punches.
