Ratchet & Clank Wiki

Expatriots are enemies in Secret Agent Clank. They are ex-military robot mercenaries from Rionosis that sell their services to the highest bidder.[1] Several worked for the Kingpin during his time on Rionosis.

Clank first encountered expatriots during "All The Kingpin's Men", when many of them guarded the Kingpin in Azcotal Alley. Hardhat wearing expats appear as enemies when Clank is fleeing through the canals on Venantonio, as well as when he chases the Head Goon on Hydrano.

Frogmen expats called merc divers appeared as enemies in the underwater base on Hydrano during "Clank under glass". The merc divers came from Mariana.[2]

Standard expatriots are humanoid in appearance, wear Hawaiian shirts and hats, and wield personally-modified versions of the pistols used during their time in service.[1]

The merc divers were equipped with stylish diving suits; which they didn't need for any breathing purposes, but rather as a heatsink for their CPU. Their suit's boots are waterproof, but not deodorized. Despite their job being underwater operations, most of them didn't know how to swim. Similar to other expat types, merc divers attacked using their energy pistols, which were actually built for the purpose of cooking fish in just two seconds.[1]

Combat[]

The initial quartet of expatriots are encountered in a stealth scenario, and must be taken out using a takedown.

In actual combat both expatriots and merc divers they are easily fought with any of Clank's available weaponry, lacking any effective attacks themselves to be a genuine threat.

The three different types of expatriot could swap models between levels through the cheat "Expat Exchange".

Merc diver's are called "expatdivers" in the game files.
