Eugene,[1] also known as Kid A,[2] is a minor character in Deadlocked. He is one of three child fans of DreadZone, who was featured in numerous DreadZone commercials and in a focus test for DreadZone products. Eugene is a humanoid with blue-gray skin, two antennae, and three fingers, appearing to be a member of the same species as Vernon and Lucy, who also appeared in the commercials.
Eugene first appeared in a commercial for DreadZone trading cards, using level six lawn ninja cards against Vernon before Vernon beat him with a Reactor card.[3] Eugene's next appearance was in a commercial for DreadZone pajamas, in which he cosplayed a hero named "Gammatron" who could shoot laser beams from his eyes, wearing a costume that included a helmet with flashlights which he could switch on from a lever on his chest.[4]
Later, he was Subject 135 in a focus test where he was shown three products: a Secret Agent Clank bobble-head, a Courtney Gears musical lunchbox, and an Ace Hardlight action figure. Eugene reached for the Secret Agent Clank bobble-head before being zapped and sent away.[5] Eugene later appeared on Vox News alongside Vernon and Lucy cheering for Ratchet following Ace Hardlight's defeat; unlike the other two, Eugene did not have his voice dubbed over by Dallas or Juanita.[6]
Eugene was on the final escape shuttle fleeing DreadZone Station alongside Vernon and Lucy, as well as Ratchet, Clank, and many other escapees.[7] After escaping, he, along with Vernon and Lucy, joined the Ratchet Fan Club founded by Al.[8]
Eugene was also a secret unlockable skin in multiplayer.
