Escape Tachyon's Forces is a mission in Tools of Destruction, taking place in Stratus City on Kortog. Ratchet and Clank were transported to Stratus City on planet Kortog by the Smuggler, where a bioscan revealed a lombax lifeform on-board. The Smuggler opted to kick out the two hitchhikers to avoid capture.
Walkthrough[]
Dodge the incoming missiles as you dive towards the city. The weapons vendor now has a new weapon available called the Predator Launcher, priced at 25,000 bolts. If you can afford it, feel free to purchase it; however, it's not essential for this mission, and you can either come back to it later or buy it in the next mission. The Predator Launcher locks onto enemies (up to three), preparing a missile for each lock-on. Upon releasing the fire button, the missiles travel straight towards their targets. While at the vendor, consider purchasing some weapon upgrades. When you're ready, proceed to attack the nearby tesladrones.
Engaging the enemies will also attract nearby sentries, as well as a transport ship that will drop off another group of enemies. These sentries are stronger than the ones encountered on Kerwan, particularly noticeable when using the Combuster unless it has been upgraded for damage. For now, ignore the nearby jackpot crate and use either the Fusion Grenade or Plasma Beasts to deal with the sentries as they spawn in close proximity to one another. Repeat the process with the second group of sentries that appear as you enter the plaza. Additionally, be prepared for a pair of shielded sentries to approach after the second ship leaves.
Shielded sentries can absorb damage with their shields, allowing them to move uninterrupted when attacked with small arms fire. They can even reflect projectiles at times. However, explosive and high-damage attacks will knock them back and damage their shields. Once you've dealt with them, take note of two groups of crates along the left-hand wall of the plaza. Then, go back and open the jackpot crate to benefit from the double reward bonus, especially from the single raritanium chest. You can also purchase Confuzzler Gas from the devices vendor.
Approach the tower with the wall of crates, but be prepared for a Drophyd cyclocannon to roll through. Cyclocannons are armed vehicles equipped with a powerful rapid-fire machine gun that sweeps from side to side. Simply jump from side to side to avoid their attacks and unleash your weapon of choice on the tank. Once the cyclocannon is destroyed, grab the Shock Ravager lying around behind it. This melee-range whip weapon is powerful and can electrocute enemies, allowing it to bypass shields. It's especially useful for dealing with groups of sentries, whether shielded or not, as its electrical arcs can hit nearby enemies. Keep in mind that electrified enemies are temporarily immune to electrical attacks.
Cross the damaged bridge and use the Shock Ravager to deal with the sentries. Face another cyclocannon before entering the room it was guarding. Behind the room's staircase, you'll find a hidden passage leading to another raritanium chest. Return to the stairs and prepare for another group of shielded enemies to attack. They will be followed by a group of tesladrones accompanied by two gunships. Neither of these enemy groups should pose a significant challenge. Afterward, a transport ship carrying more sentries will appear. Once you approach the zipline, another gunship armed with grenade launchers instead of lasers will appear.
After destroying the gunship, use the zipline and then grab onto the versa-target with your Swingshot (Ratchet equips it automatically when near a versa-target while airborne) to cross the gap. Repeat this process with the second versa-target. Then, wait at the edge of the platform for an air tram to pass by. Latch onto the target on the underside of the tram. The tram will take you to the docks, seamlessly leading into the next mission, "Swing through the Docks".
