The Dr. Croid Guardian Bots, more commonly referred to as simply guardians, are robots in All 4 One, who serve primarily as enemies, with one serving as an ally. They are large robots patented and developed by Dr. Frumpus Croid, used to guard Terawatt Forest from collector minion assaults.
One of them was reprogrammed by Cronk and Zephyr using a cranial mood reshifter and became an ally of Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and Dr. Nefarious. This guardian was named Leon by Qwark and developed its own personality. The heroes rode on Leon's back, using his fusion cannons to defend themselves on the way through Croid's defenses.
History[]
Before All 4 One[]
The guardian bots were originally created by Dr. Frumpus Croid and Nevo Binklemeyer to mine Toranux comet shards in Gorthan Crater, which they were unable to do themselves due to toxic crabrock deposits in the area.[1] After Nevo's believed betrayal and the collector assault on Uzo City, Dr. Croid modified the guardians with Omegatron tractor beams[2] and repurposed them as aggressive combat robots to protect his base in Terawatt Forest, easily crushing collector incursions in the region.
All 4 One[]

After avoiding several guardians along the Kaleero Trail, Ratchet, Clank, Qwark, and Nefarious learned it was the only means of crossing Gorthon Crater.[2] They found one to activate and managed to get him out of murder mode using a cranial mood reshifter, causing him to ally with them.[3] Qwark proceeded to name him Leon, and he aided them in reaching the Hall of Paradoxology to find Dr. Croid, battling several other guardian bots along the way.[4]
Characteristics[]
Early concept art of various Guardians.
Guardians are immense, humanoid robots. They are fitted with guardian cannons on their backs, equipped with high-powered energy projectiles and missile launchers, Omegatron tractor beam eyes, ion-hand cannons, and ion-chest cannons.
Guardians are powered by protomorphic energy from the shards of planet Toranux.[3]
When hostile, guardians enter murder mode.[3] They are extremely powerful, capable of destroying a Tank Minion in a single blow. Some guard pathways with their Omegatron tractor beams that can kill a player if pulled in. Few things in Terawatt Forest pose a real threat to these machines, except for fusion cannons, Croid Bots, and other guardians. Their weak spots are the glowing yellow areas on their palms and chest plates, making them particularly vulnerable to direct fire from fusion turrets.
