The Doppelbanger is a weapon manufactured by GrummelNet Industries featured in All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault. It is a launcher used to deploy customized robotic decoys, which use pre-recorded taunts to draw enemy attention. When upgraded, it gains the ability to shoot at enemies.

For 30,000 bolts in All 4 One, it can be upgraded to the Elite Doppelbanger. Through use in Full Frontal Assault, it can be upgraded to the Alpha Doppelbanger.

Its function was similar to that of the Decoy Glove.

History[]

All 4 One[]

A Doppelbanger! I knew that it wasn't real! I was only testing you!

These robotic doubles were originally designed to help husbands skip out on date night with their wives. When the wives discovered they preferred the robots to their actual husbands, they were repurposed as battlefield decoys.[1]

The Doppelbanger is first available at the Village Entrance in the Aldaros Plains for 5,000 bolts. A single upgrade is available to purchase upon reaching the Rehabitation Center segment of N.E.S.T., and the remaining upgrades at the Kaleero Trail in Terawatt Forest. It is a special device only useable by Ratchet. It is not upgraded with use, but its ammo can be upgraded for 10,000 bolts, and its power for 10,000 bolts. After purchasing the ammo and power upgrades, it can receive an elite upgrade for 30,000 bolts. Upon being upgraded to the Elite Doppelbanger, each deployed doppelbanger would gain the ability to fire at enemies with their arm turrets.

Full Frontal Assualt[]

The Doppelbanger returned in Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. This time, RatchetClank, and Qwark were able to use this weapon. It already had the turrets at LVL1, saving the player's time and ammo. Once upgraded to LVL3, it became the Alpha Doppelbanger. It had a different color scheme and was more powerful. It was similar to the Gold Decoy Glove in that it would explode.

Behind the Scenes[]

The Doppelbanger was originally spelled Dopplebanger.[2]
