Defeat the Emperor is a mission in Rift Apart, taking place in Megalopolis, Corson V. When Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet met up with Captain Quantum and many others to plan an attack against Emperor Nefarious and Dr. Nefarious, Emperor Nefarious disclosed his plan to invade Ratchet's dimension shortly after. As such, Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, and the Resistance joined forces for a counterattack against him.
Completing this mission will unlock the gold trophy 2 Fuzz 2 Nefarious.
Walkthrough[]
Battle the Emperor's Forces[]
The mission begins in the Midtown Mall in Megalopolis. Mrs. Zurkon sells all the usual weapons. By this stage, the weapons should all be affordable, and any weapons not purchased can be purchased now. In particular, the Blackhole Storm is important to acquire and upgrade, as is the Headhunter. Preferably, the RYNO 8 should also be possessed by finding all spybots.
Upon heading down, Goons-4-Less, now aligned with Ratchet and Rivet, are seen fighting several Nefarious Troopers, beginning with Sniper Bots and ranged troopers. Space pirates also appear, fighting for Ratchet and Rivet's team. The objective is to destroy five Sniper Bots, which can be taken out most easily with the Headhunter or Warmonger while allowing the goons to take the heat from the enemy. The rest of the enemies can be cleared out using either the Bombardier, Blackhole Storm, or simply the RYNO 8 if possessed.
After destroying the snipers, several Nefarios Troopers then follow, including a Nefarious Juggernaut. As usual, take out the ranged enemies first and then focus on the Juggernaut next with weapons such as the Blackhole Storm. Once the enemies are cleared out, a short cutscene commences, and Rivet is controlled next.
Fight the Emperor's Power Suit[]
Rivet flies Trudi at first, along a fairly linear path with restricted movement, where she must dodge enemy fire while shooting fireballs. Shortly after, a boss battle begins against the Emperor's Imperial "Power Suit" on a small balcony. In the first stage of this battle, the suit sends its arm through rifts to attack Rivet with sweeping lasers, with small Nefarious Troopers appearing. Focus on the monitor on the suit's hand in-between its laser with the Blackhole Storm or Headhunter.
After the suit falls to 75% health, a short cutscene commences, and Ratchet is controlled across a larger area. The boss fight is similar, though the suit's head will sometimes appear through the rifts and fire rapid-fire energy blasts or twin lasers. On the head, the weak points are the monitors on its eyes. Though a few Nefarious Troopers appear, it is better to let the space pirates nearby deal with them, while focusing on the suit's monitors with the Blackhome Storm, Warmonger, Headhunter, or Buzz Blades. The Void Repulser can also defend against its attacks if needs be.
Once the power suit's health falls to 0, Ratchet is taken through several rifts to a Dimensional Debris Field. Here, hop through the floating debris forward toward the suit, and a Hurlshot grants a path into the Heart Chamber. Here, six heart nodes must be destroyed, while several Nefarious Troopers appear inside. Use the Glove of Doom, Mr. Fungi, and Bombardier against the troopers while focusing on the heart nodes. Once they are all destroyed and the heart is unprotected, simply fire at it while jumping over the electric wave that sweeps the floor continuously. Once it is destroyed, a cutscene commences.
Defeat the Emperor[]
Rivet is controlled in a battle against Emperor Nefarious. Similar to the previous Dr. Nefarious battle, Emperor Nefarious attacks by sweeping in with a melee attack, summoning rocks to throw at Rivet, and firing sweeping laser blasts. Jump over or Phantom Dash to dodge all these attacks, while using the Blackhole Storm, Warmonger, Headhunter, Buzz Blades, or Negatron Collider against him. The Topiary Sprinkler can also help considerably against his melee attacks, which are hard to dodge. Try to avoid using RYNO 8 ammo at this stage. The Emperor is most vulnerable while summoning a rock, though it is important to dodge it after.
When Emperor Nefarious falls to 55% health, he will summon other Nefarious Troopers. Against these, hold them off until Kit arrives using the Glove of Doom or just the hammer. Once they are destroyed, Emperor Nefarious returns, with similar attacks. The sweeping laser will last longer, meaning Rivet should hide behind the debris as cover while it fires or even use the hoverboots to evade, though the fight is otherwise mostly unchanged. Try to keep at least one RYNO 8 ammo around for the end of the battle, though the weapon can otherwise be used successfully.
Once Emperor Nefarious falls to 5% health, a large number of troopers appear. Use the Void Repulser to avoid their projectiles and the Glove of Doom and Topiary Sprinkler, while Kit deals with them (alternatively, the RYNO 8 and other area-of-effect weapons can help). Eventually, a rift appears with no troopers coming from it, at which point, jump towards Kit for a closing cutscene.
At this point, the game is finished, and the option is presented to return to Zurkie's before the final mission to explore other planets and obtain items, or to continue to the title menu. Challenge mode can be begun at any point by making a new save from the title menu.
