Weapons[]

Scorpion Flail[]

Legendary gladiator Quaternion X used to call this weapon "the old ball and chain". The Scorpion Flail extends to its full length when its wielder attacks, delivering a crushing blow capable of disintegrating a small asteroid. Not recommended for children under 3 years of age.

Dual Vipers[]

The Dual Vipers are sure to please even the most hard-boiled weapons fanatics in the galaxy. The nano-optic refire technology and unparalleled ammo capacity promise a better tomorrow for all DreadZone contestants.

Magma Cannon[]

The Magma Cannon is the pride of the Vox Industries personal protection line. This weapon is a quick firing, two-handed monster that spits a cone of searing hot magma. Reactor says, "I may be a lousy shot, but this baby can hit anything!"

Hunter Mine Launcher[]

When Vox said, "I need a gun that launches highly explosive homing mines," his weapons design team thought he was crazy. Maybe he was, because he fed them all to a leviathan. But the new design team gave DreadZone one of its most beloved and deadly weapons.

B6-Obliterator[]

The B6-Obliterator was voted "Weapon of the Year" by the Galactic Association of Ridiculously Unnecessary Firepower. You'll buy it for the precision ground targeting, but you'll love it for its gratuitous destruction!

The Arbiter[]

The Arbiter fires high velocity, carbonox-armor-piercing rockets whose explosions reverberate across the fabric of space and time and into dimensions as yet unknown. Ace Hardlight gave this weapon its name after using it to settle a legal dispute with his former agent.

Fusion Rifle[]

The Fusion Rifle uses a patented form of hydrogen fusion combined with a state of the art magnetic optics scope for long-range accuracy. Gleeman Vox keeps this weapon handy at board meetings in case he gets interrupted.

Holoshield Launcher[]

DreadZone's Holoshield Launcher is a technologically improved version of the top-selling Gadgetron item. This device allows you to shoot out a portable shield any time and anywhere. The Holoshield's patented quantum technology allows your shots to pass through while blocking all enemy fire.

Mini Turret Launcher[]

For this weapon, Vox Industries "borrowed" patented mini-turret technology first developed by MegaCorp in the Bogon galaxy. When a team of MegaCorp lawyers came to Vox Headquarters to present litigation they quickly ended up as contestants on DreadZone. MegaCorp has since ceased legal recourse.

The Harbinger[]

The Harbinger is Vox Industries' answer to its two biggest competitors: The Apocolator and the RYNO. Shellshock says, "Those two guns are like sissies. Weak sissies from the sissiest place in Sissyland." The Harbinger, on the other hand, is the final word in gratuitous destruction. One tap of the trigger and you'll lay a path of devastation from here to the other end of the Shadow Sector.

Equipment[]

Pistol Flux LX[]

Anything made for the Combat Bot was made by Go-Comet, the leader in the industry. The Pistol Flux LX definitely reflects their ability. This luxury edition combines a high powered firing capability with lightweight design to create the ultimate weapon.

Range Warrior[]

Go-Comet dives into the "destroying with style" business with the Range Warrior. Combat Bots can sit back and relax while tracking their target from a distance.

Bogo[]

Named after the sound the weapon makes when fired inside a crowded test laboratory, the Bogo was once the pride of the Maraxus Air Patrol. Go-Comet took these once hovership mounted grenade launchers, and refitted them for personal use. Combat Bots can hover in the distance and lob their payload to unsuspecting enemies.

Alpha Ravager[]

What do you get when a single shot of electrified madness clears an entire DreadZone battlecourse? Alpha Ravager.

Beta Ravager[]

This master of the super weapons was specially designed to be fired and controlled by Combat Bots. With its recoil reduced, Combat Bots will no longer misfire into the grandstands during DreadZone challenges.

EMP Grenade[]

Electro Magnetic Pulse. Toss it at anything electronic and you've got yourself a lightshow of death.

Hacker Ray[]

Vox Industries delves into Combat Bot technology with this top security bypass device. Bots use it to hack security orbs.

Shield Link[]

The Shield Link gadget allows your Combat Bots to create a protective energy shield around an ally during battle. This is particularly useful when an ally is using the Hacker Ray or trying to turn one of DreadZone's bolt cranks.

Grind Cable[]

Combat Bots can now fire a cable from one grind point to another.

Marauder[]

Ratchet's DreadZone starter suit, with some slight modifications by Al.

Avenger[]

Armor worn by an Avenger. This rank was achieved by conquering the Tower of Power.

Crusader[]

Crusader armor can be won by defeating Two Exterminators.

Vindicator[]

The Vindicator armor was awarded for destroying Eviscerator.

Liberator[]

This is the best DreadZone has to offer, the Liberator rank was achieved by finishing off Ace Hardlight.

Versa-Wrench Lite[]

The Versa-Wrench Lite is a cheap but reliable member of Vox Industries' acclaimed line of melee-weapon household tools. This model offers a nano-fiber mesh grip that is just right for the novice combatant. However, more experienced competitors will find this model's striking power insufficient for heavy combat.

Versa-Wrench Multicore[]

The Versa-Wrench Multicore offers significantly increased striking power at a very reasonable price. This model gets its name from its lightweight core, which is made of a threaded helix of graphite, titanium and Tundorian Yeti hair.

Versa-Wrench Striker[]

The Versa-Wrench Striker features an outer shell carved from Sarathosian Leviathan scale, while the core of the wrench consists of magnetized iridium alloy. This model offers the highest impact power in the Versa-Wrench line and was once the preferred melee weapon of Captain Starshield.

Fission Lance[]

The Fission Lance is Vox Industries' strongest melee weapon. The Fission Lance is encased in a shell of highly radioactive Raritanium isotope. Due to its sheer power and its radioactive nature, this weapon is only available for sale to DreadZone contestants.

Obsidian Blade[]

The Obsidian Blade is an experimental super-weapon created by Vox Laboratories. Its core is comprised of "vorpal matter" taken from the center of an H class black hole. Though it takes the form of an innocuous household tool, it is one of the most coveted and feared weapons in the galaxy.

Charge Boots[]

The Charge Boots contain rocket boosters that can propel you in whatever direction you are facing at great speeds.

Gravity Boots[]

Use these boots to walk on any specially designed Grav-O-Tronic surface.

Mods[]

Alpha mods[]

Speed Mod[]

Increases refire rate. This mod features the latest in self-customizing, quantum-optic technology to increase the refire rate of any weapon.

Ammo mod[]

Increases ammo capacity. This mod employs collapsible nano-technology to allow full customization of ammo capacity in any Vox Industries weapon.

Aiming mod[]

Increases auto targeting. This mod uses advanced superscalar predictive targeting chips to compute and track enemy targets. The chips work in parallel, so additional aiming mods will continue to improve a weapon's aiming.

Impact mod[]

Increases knock back to enemies. This mod equips each ammo round with thousands of nano-scale anti-gravity repulsor particles. These particles create a small concussion wave upon impact, thus knocking the target further away from you.

Area mod[]

Increases explosion radius. This mod affects any weapon with explosive projectiles. Miniaturized raritanium fusion detonators are magnetically attached to each projectile upon launch, increasing the explosion size upon impact.

XP mod[]

Increases experience from defeated enemies by 50%. Both weapon experience and player experience are increased as the player uses any weapon equipped with this mod. The nanotechnology that drives weapon and health upgrades is amplified by a localized neutrino energy field emitted by the mod.

Jackpot mod[]

Increases the bolts received from defeated enemies by 50 percent. When you defeat a foe with any weapon equipped with the Jackpot Mod, the number of bolts you receive increases. Each attached Jackpot Mod will further increase the received bolts. The technology used by this mod is highly confidential, but it is believed to have been first invented by a Vox Industries accountant while trying to inflate a quarterly revenues report.

NanoLeech mod[]

Spawns health-increasing nanotech from defeated enemies. This mod applies a polarized magnetic field to each ammo round as it is fired. This field stabilizes and binds the Nanotech from defeated enemies for a short time.

Omega mods[]

Napalm mod[]

Spawns fiery pools of lava with every shot. This mod is attachable to any weapon that uses explosive ammunition. The sticky pools of lava will damage any enemy who crosses them, while leaving you and your allies unharmed. Vox Pharmaceuticals originally developed portable lava technology while designing a heated massage oil. When the massage oil proved unpopular in focus tests it was repackaged as a weapons mod.

Time Bomb mod[]

Attaches sticky grenades to the target, which explode and send lethal electric shocks to nearby enemies. Vox Industries purposefully added a time delay into this mod to improve ratings. DreadZone fans love to watch combatants fleeing in terror from a fellow gladiator who is hit with the "Time Bomb."

Freeze mod[]

Freezes enemies in a layer of ice. This mod encases each ammo round in a thin layer of liquid Hydrogen. When targets are impacted by this -253 degree substance, the humidity vapors around them crystallize into ice, freezing them on the spot.

Mini-Bomb mod[]

Spawns explosive mini-bombs with every shot. This mod can be attached to any weapon that uses explosive ammo. It packs multiple Deuterium fusion mini-bombs into every ammo round, causing the mini-bombs to explode out and seek enemies on impact.

Morph mod[]

Morphs enemies into highly explosive farm animals. This mod fuses billions of ionized Heisenberg improbability particles onto each ammo round. This results in the generation of a massive improbability field upon impact, which frequently has the effect of turning the target into a pig. Animals may vary due to the unpredictability of quantum science.

Brainwash mod[]

Causes affected enemies to attack other enemies. Each ammo round is injected with a potent drug known as Friendium Paranoiathol, causing the target to temporarily see his allies as an angry horde of political talk show hosts.

Acid mod[]

Causes damage over time to affected enemies. This mod injects each shot with high molarity hydrofluoric acid mixed with a particularly unfriendly form of Sarthosian swamp bacteria. Parental supervision recommended for children under 5 years of age.

Shock mod[]

When enemies are hit, lightning shoots from them to strike any nearby enemies. This potent secondary attack is achieved by applying an eight gigavolt static electric charge to each ammo round. Though this has since become Vox Industries' most potent weapon mod, it was originally designed as a party gag for creating static cling on women's undergarments.

Combat Bots[]

Upgrades[]

Go-Comet A[]

This is the first of four devices used to increase your Combat Bots' armor and damage capabilities. Go-Comet refuses to comment on the details but warns that using these devices on household electronics could be dangerous.

Go-Comet X[]

This is the second of four devices used to increase your Combat Bots' armor and damage capabilities. It is advised to use gloves and shower often.

Go-Comet XR[]

This is the third of four devices used to increase your Combat Bots' armor and damage capabilities. The top secret components will give off an odor that will stay in your clothes for the rest of your life. Be advised.

Hyper-Tron[]

This is the fourth of four devices used to increase your Combat Bots' armor and damage capabilities. This device requires two people to lift, and one person to monitor the deadly amounts of radiation the device gives off.

Dreadinator[]

This is DreadZone's own Bot enhancement device. Technicians happily circumvented all weapon manufacturing limitations, used only the finest in outlawed materials, and created a machine so powerful, even Shellshock won't go near it.

DZ Ultra[]

This is an improved version of the DZ Dreadinator. It's better because it says "ultra!"

Ultranator[]

This is a top of the line Bot enhancement device. Designed specifically for DreadZone style combat, this massive upgrade gives your combat bots the power they need to fight the toughest of enemies.

Paintjobs[]

The Royale[]

This is the original paint scheme from a DreadZone Champion Bot.

The Gold Star[]

This hand painted design comes from a decommissioned Gagnian Patrol Bot. These Bots were once used exclusively by high ranking Exterminators.

Gunner Grey[]

This urban battle design was originally used for standard Trezor elite troopers. DreadZone adopted it from a former contestant.

The Assassin[]

This design was hand painted by Big Al himself.

The Commando[]

This battered look comes from Grunt Troop armor originally used in the battle for Catacrom Four.

Pale Rider[]

These colors represent the ancient guardians of the Temple of Shaar.

Elium Shocker[]

These are signifying colors from the Aquatos National Protection Force.

The Destroyer[]

This design represents a slightly modified version of a Kronos Peace Keeper outfit.

The Dragon[]

This is a replica design from the Valix Network Security Corp.

Bruiser Machina[]

One of DreadZone's most popular designs, these colors were originally worn by Sarathosian Swamp Jaggas.

The Firestorm[]

This design was once kept for the most powerful Knights of Tempus.

Heads[]

Crash V6[]

This is a modified Go-Comet crash test helmet. Big Al has added crack proof glass on the visor, six High Stack sensors, and an internal code reader that plays Al's top 40 favorite songs like "Shamus on Youmus" and "I love You so Much I'd Eat Dirt"

Gate Keeper[]

This helmet is truly a rare find. Originally worn by Tron-Del Warriors, these helmets were made for sleek and silent attackers, fearless raiders, and fighters of truth and justice. They also mysteriously smell like feet.

Cyclone[]

This is an Al custom design. Going for simplicity, the occular sensors are merged into one frontal piece. As a back-up, targeting information displays visually if the bot's central computer is damaged. Al says this was the original helmet design for a mysterious superhero named Al-Man. Al insists that he is real, but there is no relation.

Bounty Hunter[]

This design is rough and rugged. Al designed it based on the helmet worn by Jet Baxter in Al's favorite movie "Mandles, Sandles for Men. The Saga Continues?" He starred alongside Courtney Gears. The movie was a flop but the helmet gained massive acclaim.

DreadZone 3030[]

This is DreadZone standard fare. Equipped with DreadZone communications software, a targeting system, and 2-ply Orxonian plate armor, you can rest assure that your bot will perform at its highest capabilities.

Help[]

Moves[]

Ledge grab[]

Feel like just hanging around? Jump up to a ledge and you'll automatically grab and hang on.

Ledge traversal[]

Hanging onto a ledge by your fingers? Proceed along the ledge by moving the Left Left analog stick left or right. Don't look down.

Strafe[]

Sometimes you have to play offense and defense at the same time. If you need to dodge and shoot, use strafe. In Third-Person Mode, hold R2 while holding the Left Left analog stick left or right.

Swingshot[]

Time for some swashbuckling action. You can swing from ledge to ledge when you're near a swingshot target. Just press and hold R1 to automatically deploy your swingshot. Let go of R1 to automatically release when you make it to the other side. In 3rd Person Mode, jump towards the orb and then press and hold Circle to swing. Release Circle to let go.

Hyper-Strike[]

This attack was banned for not being Holovision friendly. But this is DreadZone so swing away! Jump by pressing X , then Square for a nasty strike.

Comet-Strike[]

Your wrench is your best friend. Throw it, and it will come back to you. For Lock-Strafe Mode, press and hold R2 and then hit Square. For 3rd Person Mode, press R1 then Square to launch your wrench into a group of unsuspecting DreadZone employees.

Multi-Strike[]

This isn't the kind of combo you get for lunch. Press Square three times in succession and you'll deliver a triple pronged combo of doom.

Double Jump[]

Your DreadZone battlesuit comes with built in Spring-rod Technology. Press X to jump and then press X again while in mid air to do a double jump.

Cable Grind[]

With an amazing 65 percent breakage rate, DreadZone grind cables are also magnetically charged to hold anybody or anything. Just hop onto a grind cable and you'll automatically hook on. All standard issue DreadZone Battlesuit helmets are fitted with gyro-balance emitters so hopefully, you won't fall off.

Challenge descriptions[]

DreadZone Station[]

The DreadZone Battle Arena, where gladiators compete every night to win fortune, fame, and continued survival! This floating complex also contains the very best in living, dining, and training amenities for all DreadZone gladiators.

Advanced Qualifier[]

This challenge is specifically designed to familiarize new contestants with the features of their battlesuit and their robot allies. It also doesn't hurt to see if they'll look good on Holovision. It's all about the ratings baby!

Grist for the Mill[]

This is the standard weed-out regime for beginning gladiators. Footage from this challenge ends up on blooper reels during the prestigious 2 a.m. timeslot.

The Big Sleep[]

The very air turns against our contender in this, our most requested battle. Our triple-patented DreadZone Sleeper Gas will slowly drain Ratchet's health as he fights. Can Team Darkstar take down an entire robot platoon before the toxic fumes turn their lights out for good?

Avenger Tournament[]

This is the tower of power folks! DreadZone arena technicians must have been insane when they designed this course. Gladiators will make their way up the treacherous tower while fighting off multitudes of vile and dangerous foes. They'll be fighting for a chance to compete in the next DreadZone planetary battlecourse, and the real prize, to become DreadZone champion.

Manic Speed Demon[]

It's all or nothing in this round! Either every enemy falls in 90 seconds, or DreadZone starts looking for new gladiators.

The Tower of Power[]

The Tower of Power. Most gladiators run away crying if you even mention the name. The ones that don't fight to prove their worthiness in this DreadZone arena battle.

Climb the Tower of Power[]

It takes most gladiators everything they have to reach the top of the Tower of Power. Which is why we garrison a whole platoon of soldiers there to wait for them! Be sure to tune in for the post-show reaction shots!

Perfect Chrome Finish[]

A seasoned gladiator laughs at the prospect of merciless robots hordes. But can our hero destroy an entire legion without taking a hit?

Close and Personal[]

Any gladiator can dismantle an army of killer robots with an arsenal of unstoppable power. Too bad in this challenge, our hero will only have his bare hands!

Crusader Tournament[]

The Crusader Tournament. A place where real heroes test their strength and spirit against a myriad of deadly challenges, all leading up to the ultimate battle with DreadZone Exterminator Reactor. Don't forget, the Battledome Shuttle is always available 24/7 to take people to the never ending parade of deadly challenges.

Static Deathtrap[]

Tonight on DreadZone: what happens when we force the criminally insane to use strategy and planning? Let's test this Lombax's puny mental mettle by taking away everything but pre-placed mines!

Marathon[]

This time Ratchet is utterly doomed. We've wired his DreadZone collar to four control nodes placed throughout the arena. If he can't stop their countdown in four minutes or less, the whole audience gets a fresh serving of Lombax pate!

Reactor Battle[]

Tonight, a very special episode of DreadZone: Ratchet versus Reactor. Thinking about betting on the Lombax to win? Vox Space Casino and Resort says you have a better chance of being hit by a meteor. Twice. While underground.

Zombie Attack[]

Here's a popular DreadZone fan mail question: how long would it take for a robot zombie to eat a full grown Lombax? The answer: two minutes and fifteen seconds. In this challenge, that's exactly how much time you'll have to survive against a never-ending onslaught of hungry zombies.

Heavy Metal[]

Large. Gigantic. Enormous. If it's bigger than a Blargian breadbox, then Ratchet gets to fight it. Right now.

Endzone[]

All robots like to stand in glowing boxes. Too bad we wired the endzone of this battlefield up to Ratchet's collar. Will we get to see a gladiator do his special "touchdown dance" on Ratchet's grave? Only one way to find out!

Vindicator Tournament[]

Wretched, calculating, and vicious, Eviscerator is like no other exterminator on DreadZone. That's why the Vindicator Tournament has been devoted to the torturous pain he so adamantly likes to inflict.

Murphy's Law[]

Our crack team of gladiator experts have matched each round of this challenge to the best weapon for the job. Wait, did we say "best?" We meant "most entertaining."

Air Drop[]

Tonight's easy. Our hero has to still be standing after three minutes. By some strange feat of coincidence, those are also the three minutes when the DreadZone Volunteer Air force is planning to test their bombing run formations. What are the chances?

Eviscerator Battle[]

Bred for war. Trained for battle. Groomed for stardom by Gleeman Vox. Some of the Eviscerator's opponents are reduced to insensibility by fear alone. That means drooling and calling for mommy. Will our gladiator be able to hold onto his weapons long enough to fight this bio-engineered terror?

Higher Ground[]

In tonight's challenge, Ratchet must ascend the Tower of Power once more! But this time, we let our Arena Engineering Interns construct the path. Let's see what those loveable scamps came up with!

The Corkscrew[]

Grinding to the top of the infamous DreadZone Corkscrew can be trying even during the best of times. Or, at least, it will be once the Corkscrew is finished. For now, it's impossible.

Liberator Tournament[]

Only the strongest and bravest of heroes make it to this tournament, each fighting for a chance to face undefeated champion Ace Hardlight. DreadZone has seen the universe's finest gladiators cut down mercilessly. Can anyone face Ace Hardlight and survive?

Catacrom Four[]

This DreadZone battlecourse will challenge you to fight your way to the Catacrom Burial Dome, and across hallowed ground rumored to be haunted by the robot undead.

Valley of Heroes[]

You must defeat all enemies and make your way to the plateau overlooking the battlefield.

On the Prowl[]

Find the Landstalker on the other side of the chasm. But first, find a way to extend the bridge. Don't forget to use your map!

All Aboard the Landstalker[]

It's time to take control of the mighty Landstalker. Use it's destructive mortars to destroy any Quasar Orbs blocking your way to the Burial Dome.

Shaar[]

This challenge will require you to infiltrate the temple and capture all control nodes to win. It may sound simple in theory, but may prove difficult in execution, possibly, your execution!

Return to the Deathbowl[]

Fight your way to the Landstalker located on the other side of the arena.

Landstalker Stalkin'[]

Use the Landstalker to capture the nodes outside of the temple. Then defeat the temple fortifications and breach the main gates to capture the two nodes in front of the temple.

As the Wrench Turns[]

Capture all the nodes located on temple grounds to win this challenge!

Assault on the Frozen Tundra[]

Use only the weapons available to capture the nodes.

Shoot to Kill[]

Using the Landstalker, Ratchet must destroy the targets that are placed throughout the area.

Whack-A-Swarmer[]

The area is full of swarmers. Kill as many as possible within the available time limit.

Traverse the Valix Lighthouse to activate the Gamma Energy Beam.

Lost and Found[]

Travel to the hangar bay and locate the hovership parked within.

Space Ace[]

Using the hovership, fly around the station to secure a safe landing place.

Power Up![]

Travel to the north and south power stations to power up the central lighthouse.

Let the Light Shine Through[]

Travel to the 2nd reflector station and re-direct the light beam back to the lighthouse in order to activate the Gamma Energy Beam.

Time Extension![]

Use the hovership to navigate the Valix lighthouse station before the timer runs out.

Your Land is my Land[]

Control nodes are under enemy command. Travel to each node and retake them to win.

Planet Torval[]

Locate the hidden ship and escape the planet before enemies can track you down and put you six feet under.

Hoverbike or Bust[]

Deactivate the forcefield to release the hoverbike. Be careful, there are three turrets guarding the hacker orbs controlling the forcefield.

Seek and Destroy[]

Destroy all the drones to deactivate the forcefields and unlock the rest of the city.

The Turn On[]

Help Clank locate the ship on his map by activating the vector transmitter nodes.

Blast of Fresh Air[]

Use the bots to blow up the Ace Hardlight statue hiding the ship.

Turret Trouble[]

Use the turret to fight off DreadZone forces.

Stygia[]

This challenge takes you to the Tempus Control Station high above Planet Stygia. Fight your way through a raging meteor shower and DreadZone's meanest to re-activate the planet's meteor shields.

Junking the Jammers[]

Use the Landstalker to destroy the DreadZone jamming devices located around the central platform's core.

Energy Collector[]

Shut down all the lightning collectors so Clank can re-calibrate them from mission control.

Shields Up![]

Re-activate the shield generator.

Shield Survival[]

Defend the Shield Generator and kill all the enemies who are attacking.

Maraxus[]

Infiltrate and survive the inescapable and deadly Maraxus Prison complex. Free your imprisoned bots and try to escape alive.

Locate and free the closest bot from the Alpha block of Maraxus Prison. Then escape to the outside.

The Grinding Chase[]

Grind the Gauntlet of Doom to get to the station's core. Open the grind rail channels to extend the track as you travel the outskirts of the desolate station.

Running the Gauntlet[]

Run the Gauntlet of Doom. Deactivate the control nodes in order to take down the forcefield blocking your escape.

Prison Break[]

Destroy the computer that controls the forcefield and be the first person to ever beat the unbeatable Gauntlet of Doom!

Escape[]

Demolish the mighty Ghost Station. Locate and destroy all orbiting anchors to send the ghost station into a spinning oblivion. Beware of the stations defenses.

DreadZone Station Interior[]

Destroy the East Generator[]

Run through the heavily fortified DreadZone Station and deactivate the first power generator before time runs out.

Destroy the West Generator[]

Run through the heavily fortified DreadZone Station and deactivate the second power generator before time runs out.

Destroy the Central Core[]

Run through the heavily fortified DreadZone Station and deactivate the last power generator before time runs out. Save the station and everyone on it.
