The Corvus Sector, also referred to as the Corvus Nebula,[a] is a sector of the Polaris Galaxy featured in A Crack in Time. It is one of five sectors of the Breegus System. The sector is home to the fongoid planet Morklon, as well as four moons.

Ratchet and Clank came to the sector not by choice but when they were exiled there by Dr. Nefarious.

History[]

Before A Crack in Time[]

Terachnoid sages from Pollyx Industries discovered the Time Bomb in the sector, listed under project file 1171-Zeta. Though they studied it extensively, they wasted their samples, and thus the project was terminated.[2]

Ten years prior to the events of A Crack in Time,[3] agorian commander Lornock Argos defeated fongoid chief Zahn Gribnak in a one-sided battle, an event known as the Battle of Gimlick Valley.[4]

Also sometime prior to A Crack in Time, while space pirates operated in the sector, some witnessed Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence drifting through the sector while stranded on an asteroid.[1][a]

A Crack in Time[]

Around the events of A Crack in Time, Lord Vorselon began operating in the Corvus Sector, sending goons on regular raids.[5]

Ratchet and Clank were exiled to the Corvus Sector by Dr. Nefarious' Asteroid Flinger 5000, which caused them to crash on Morklon. The two survived thanks to the Zoni in Ratchet's Zoni Vessel,[6] before using a time portal to alter history so the fongoids won the Battle of Gimlick Valley, allowing them to then use Argos' repurposed ship in the present.[7]

Ratchet returned to the sector in Aphelion to help locals. In "Destroy 50 Ships", Ratchet helped a vullard by destroying some of Vorselon's raiders.[5] In "Help Introduce Warlock and Snookiebear", Ratchet helped unite a terachnoid and a valkyrie who met over the holo-net.[8] Later, Vorselon challenged Ratchet to a duel in the sector, leading to "Vanquish Lord Vorselon".[9]

After the events of A Crack in Time, Qwark claimed that a group of mutant space ninjas had been spotted in this sector.[10]

Explorable moons[]

A total of two Zoni and two gold bolts can be found across the four moons within the sector, as well as one Constructo mod.

Corvus Alpha[]

Corvus Alpha is an uninhabited desert planet covered mostly in quicksand. It features a series of sparse platforms that have to be traversed using spring pads and versa-targets, before a group of kick pads allows a higher trail of platforms to be reached. This trail, featuring the same platforming elements, leads to a Zoni at the end.

Corvus Beta[]

Corvus Beta is a lava moon with a large number of platforms visible in its orbit. It appears uninhabited, but thrashers and agorian warriors will warp in on select platforms. The OmniSoaker is required a few times to progress through some of the platforms as well. A series of platforms orbits the moon at a very high distance, which have to be slowly traversed to reach the lone Zoni. Two waves of agorian hunters and agorian phalanxes have to be fought prior to reaching the Zoni's platform. A single gold bolt can also be found by dropping down from above to a lower platform.

Corvus Sigma[]

Corvus Sigma is a metal moon inhabited by 35 agorian hunters and phalanxes, with the majority consisting of the former. It is recommended to rely on crowd control weapons like the Groovitron Glove and Mag-Net Launcher as the hunters can assault you from all sides. Defeating all enemies grants a gold bolt.

Corvus Tau[]

Corvus Tau is a metal moon inhabited by forty thrashers, solely of the ranged variant. Despite their numbers, these should be easy foes this late in the game. Defeating them all grants the Barrage Upgrade for the Constructo Bomb.

Space missions[]

Help Introduce Warlock and Snookiebear[]

"Help Introduce Warlock and Snookiebear" can be started by talking to either Snookiebear83 or Warlock, each located in ships opposite one another within the sector as indicated on the radar. Both will request to be escorted to the other, with Snookiebear83 also needing to be towed. In either case, the Aphelion and her escortee will be attacked by a group of fighters. Defeat all twenty to force them to retreat, after which the escort quest can be completed by reaching the other partner.

Destroy 50 Ships[]

"Destroy 50 Ships" can be started by talking to the lone vullard at the Corvus Depot. He will request fifty of Vorselon's fighters be destroyed. This mission temporarily replaces the agorian ships with security satellites, as they do not otherwise spawn in the Corvus Sector. Each satellite only allows for 25 ships to be destroyed before it becomes vulnerable, at which point the fighters flee, so you need to fight at least two to reach the total of fifty for the reward.

Behind the scenes[]

Corvus is also the name of a constellation in real life.

Notes[]

Annotations[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 In Tools of Destruction, a Corsair refers to someone with "clockwork and gears" for brains and a "round fella" with him, playing Lance and Janice, floating on an asteroid outside of the "Corvus Nebula",[1] suggesting another name for the sector. This is an apparent reference to A Crack in Time prior to its release.
