The 2016 re-imagined game is primarily an unreliable retelling of events by Qwark.
The re-imagined game primarily describes Captain Qwark's account of events. As Qwark is an unreliable narrator, and contradictory events are in-universe fiction (though those which correspond still apply). Please see Project:Bulletin board/Canon for the wiki's coverage of canon.

Cora Verolux is a support character in the Ratchet & Clank 2016 re-imagined game and the Ratchet & Clank movie. She is a field operative for the Galactic Rangers, alongside Brax Lectrus, from planet Novalis, and the youngest Ranger to be recruited.[2] She often fights alongside Ratchet and Clank during missions.

History[]

Early history[]

Cora Verolux cadet photo (2016 movie)

Cora's cadet photo.

Cora was born and raised on Novalis,[1] and became the youngest recruit ever to be selected for the Galactic Rangers.[3] During her first cadet photo, she had much longer hair, partially tied into a ponytail, wore a baggy sweater and large hoop earrings, with wide-framed glasses while wearing braces, cosmetic choices she later regretted.[4] The Flux Rifle was designed and built by Cora while she simultaneously did her math homework and ate breakfast.[5] A statue was built in her honor at Novalis' Tobruk Crater.

Ratchet & Clank re-imagined[]

Cora visited Veldin along with Captain Qwark and Brax to help with tryouts to recruit a new Galactic Ranger. When being interviewed, Cora read over Ratchet's dangerous past, which was one of the reasons he was rejected. With no luck recruiting a new Ranger, she returned to Kerwan. Later, when blarg warbots attacked the planet, she helped fight them off in the Hall of Heroes, though Ratchet and Clank destroyed the Class G Dreadship and fended off the attack, leading to their recruitment. Cora watched Ratchet's weapons training along with Brax and Qwark, and despaired.[4]

Travel to the Fort cutscene

Cora and Ratchet on Batalia.

After securing her and the other Rangers an XK-81 Jetpack from Gaspar, Cora then helped Ratchet and Clank during their mission on planet Batalia, fighting alongside them on their way to Fort Krontos.[6] After voting in favor of Qwark's simplistic plan to attack Quartu over Elaris and Clank's more thought out one, she joined the assault on planet Quartu to find Drek, pairing up with Ratchet and Clank, while being visibly annoyed with them and demanding they listen to her as their senior.[4] The three were ambushed by Mr. Zurkons as they infiltrated the factory, though she managed to interrogate Zed to find new information. She eventually learned from him that Drek's next target was planet Novalis, which frightened her as the planet was populated.

Cora assisted the Rangers in her class-g Star Jumper while trying to stop the Deplanetizer from destroying Novalis. She withdrew from the battle along with Brax, while Ratchet went on ahead inside. However, Captain Qwark betrayed the Rangers, and the mission was unsuccessful. Later, as Clank convinced Ratchet to return to and lead the Rangers, Cora warmed up to Ratchet, admitting they all make mistakes, and revealed her embarrassing old cadet photo.[4] The Rangers were successful in steering the Deplanetizer off course, causing it to destroy New Quartu rather than Umbris.

Characteristics[]

Cora's appearance can be described as a female humanoid, with elf-like ears. She is purple skinned with dark red hair, wearing a blue jewel on her head in a gold tiara, and standard purple Ranger uniform. She is strong-willed and tomboyish, with a no-nonsense personality and no time for humor or childishness. She is a skilled combatant, normally wielding dual Combusters and using an XK-81 Jetpack, though she has also been seen with a Warmonger and a Constructo Pistol. She is agile, and able to dodge explosions point blank.

Behind the scenes[]

Cora was voiced by Bella Thorne in both the movie and the game.

Cora's appearance is very similar to Talwyn Apogee, a markazian, although her species is unconfirmed. Cora in gameplay also acts very similarly to Talwyn, flying around with a jetpack and using a pistol to fight enemies, suggesting she fills Talwyn's role.

The symbol on the jewel she wears on her head is the symbol of the cragmites, as a possible nod to Tools of Destruction.

The pre-production designs for Cora and many characters in the 2016 game and movie were created by Go For Launch Productions.
