Constructorbots[1] are enemies in Ratchet & Clank and the 2016 re-imagined game found in Outpost X11 on Aridia. They are humanoid, yellow robots responsible for construction of the compound, which wield a flamethrower to attack intruders and sandsharks.

In the re-imagined release, knocking a constructorbot into the quicksand earns the trophy "That Sinking Feeling."

History

In the original release, constructorbots defended the Outpost X11 compound, and were found defending against sandsharks outside and attacking Ratchet when he entered the compound during "Find Skid's agent" and "Use your Swingshot."

In the re-imagined release, constructorbots were presumably used to help build the McMarx Sports Shack for Skidd McMarx, and then set to defend against intruders. When Ratchet and Clank entered the shack during "Find Skidd's Agent" and "Locate the gadget inside the McMarx Sports Shack‎‎", the constructorbots identified them as intruders and attacked.

Concept art for the re-imagined release

Constructorbots are yellow, humanoid robots with a green icon in the center of their chest. They carry a large, red backpack with a pipe connecting to their flamethrower, which they fire against intruders. Their heads also contain a face shield, which they lower to cover their face while attacking.

Combat

In the original release, constructorbots use their flamethrower to sweep to the right and back to the left. Then they lift up their face shield to check the tip of the flamethrower before continuing, spraying flames in an arc in front of them. These flames can be dodged by jumping, or dealing enough damage can interrupt this attack. When Ratchet gets close to them, they do not move or react aside from rotating to face him when starting to fire. Constructorbots can be dealt with using a hyper-strike from the OmniWrench, or with the Bomb Glove.

In the re-imagined release, constructorbots are a little more threatening. They will fire their flamethrower to the ground, creating a short burst of flames that will travel in front of them at a quick pace to reach medium range, similar to the blarg space commando, though constructorbot flames have a shorter width. Their flames are best dodged, while they are best defeated using the Combuster or the Fusion Grenade.
