Confront and Destroy Dr. Nefarious is a mission in A Crack in Time, taking place at the Nefarious Space Station. Ratchet and Clank returned to Dr. Nefarious' space station only to hear that Lawrence had arrived with his ship to transport the doctor to the Great Clock, and they fought to stop him from leaving before he could use it.
Completing the mission will unlock the bronze trophy Revenge of the Squishy.
Walkthrough[]
You need to use a new platform next to the weapons vendor to take you to a new area of the station's outer perimeter. Jump to the next asteroid to encounter a Protomantis, Protoguards, and Cyclobombers. Defeat them and use the OmniSoaker on the nearby water dispenser to cool down the panels so you can continue further. As you proceed along this linear path you will encounter all types of Nefarious Troopers, ending with a large fight against four Protomantises and two dropships.
After this, you will reach the point from where you can reach Lawrence's ship. Although the game implies you have no time to stop him, you can at this point still turn around and use the nearby teleporter for any remaining activities, such as completing "Find the Complete RYNO V Holo-plan". Fly down towards Lawrence and Nefarious to start a cutscene, followed by the boss fight.
Dr. Nefarious boss fight[]
Nefarious will open with rapid laser blasts from his hands, although the target is always indicated on the ground before impact. He will also throw purple bombs that generate rapid shockwaves. His third attack is a laser that continuously trails across the ground, following you. During all this, he will fly around the area, forcing you to rely on mid- to long-ranged weapons.
After losing 25% of his health, he will call for Lawrence, who will use the station's defense laser to attempt to kill you, forcing you to fly away across the circular platform using the hoverboots. Accelerators will keep you from being swallowed by the laser (which decreases your health over time if you are caught in it), while you have to dodge electricity traveling across the floor sent to you by Nefarious. You have the opportunity to hit some ammo and nanotech crates during this, which you should focus on.
Nefarious will stop eventually, starting phase 2 of his boss fight. This time he uses the same attacks, but will also call for Protoguards and dropships to support him as he takes more and more damage. At 50% remaining health, he will again order Lawrence to use his laser, while also sending longer and wider arcs of electricity towards you. He will also order Lawrence to use maximum power, which ends up destroying the platform entirely. Use the hoverboots to jump from one chunk to another until you eventually have to land on Lawrence and Nefarious' spaceship.
Lawrence will support Nefarious by firing a laser from his cockpit, although he can only use it to sweep the top of the ship in a circle. He will not use this often and it is easy to get behind the cockpit. Nefarious will not sit still however and pelt you with his lasers, throw shockwave bombs, summon swarms of Microdrones, and send waves of electricity across the ship's surface.
If you have obtained the RYNO V, it will make the battle significantly easier. Otherwise, the recommended weapons against Nefarious are the Doom Blades, Judicator, and Spiral of Carnage. The Rift Ripper 5000 is good for extra damage if he stays in range, whereas the Mag-Net Cannon and Groovibomb Glove are useful for stalling him. Other weapons are not entirely useless, but most either lack the firepower or fire rate to stay worthwhile.
After his defeat, there is a long cutscene, after which you immediately continue with the next mission "Beat Azimuth to the Orvus Chamber!".
